- TriviaThis episode deals with characters and events from two previous episodes: Born Psychopath (2013) was about Henry Mesner, a 10-year old boy who was physically and mentally abusive to his younger sister, Ruby, he abused, tortured and killed animals, he also attempted to kill his mother. He stole a gun from his grandfather and threatened to kill his little sister with it after kidnapping her and holding the gun to her head. Nick Amaro attempted to talk him down, but Henry wound up shooting and wounding Nick. After being arrested Henry was diagnosed as a budding psychopath by Dr. Wong and sent to juvenile detention.
Eight years later in Post-Graduate Psychopath (2021) Henry is released from juvenile detention despite warnings from SVU that the boy was not changed or rehabilitated. Like all clinical psychopaths Henry was skilled at lying to and manipulating people. He had his therapist convinced he was rehabilitated and that he regretted his actions as a child. Upon being released he kidnapped Libby Blandon, his therapist's daughter, and brutally raped and tortured her; he cut her inner thighs and vulva with a knife, bit her belly, breasts and buttocks, raped her and repeatedly sodomized her with objects, then stabbed her and left her for dead. Henry went on to murder his parents and his step-brother and kidnapped Ruby, but Rollins managed to save her. Henry was arrested and while in custody he attacked Carisi, stabbing him in the ear with a pencil as part of an attempt to appear insane and be sent to an institution again instead of prison. He also told Rollins he had been stalking her and her daughter and told her he frequently thought about raping Rollins and killing her daughter while masturbating. Henry's gambit paid off, he was found mentally unstable and incompetent to stand trial and remanded to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital for treatment. Rollins paid him a visit there and told him that if she ever saw him come near her or her family again she would kill him.
- Quotes
Captain Olivia Benson: How many times have you done this?
Det. Nadia Szabo: Done what? Use DNA to solve a crime?
Captain Olivia Benson: Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get a rape victim to come forward, let alone agree to the invasive trauma of a rape exam? The minimum pact between us and them is that we don't use their DNA against them.
Det. Nadia Szabo: Tell that to the mother of a 25-year-old boy who was shot during a carjacking.
Captain Olivia Benson: How about you do your job by actually investigating or getting subpoenas instead of trading sexual favors for shortcuts to the DNA database?
Det. Nadia Szabo: You're scolding me for doing favors for people I'm involved with? That's rich.
Captain Olivia Benson: I have never put a rape victim in jeopardy.
Det. Nadia Szabo: Oh, so you're some kind of saint? You've never put your finger on the scale for a former partner or an IAB rat?
Captain Olivia Benson: Get out of my office.
Det. Nadia Szabo: And you get out of my suit!
The entrance is impressive. The subject is a major one. It is major in stories. It is major in recurring roles with the return of Garland, Dr. Truman. And the events have traces of old major cases. Psychopath Henry Mesner (14×19, 22x14)... Recurring lawyer Dara Miglani (Mouzam Makkar) recalls her earlier character. She is the protagonist of the episode where game lovers attacked and gave the lowest rating in Svu history, because she emphasized gender discrimination in games. (Intimidation game 16x14)
The story is about "unauthorized" research and use of a rape kit as DNA evidence in major cases. Olivia tries to prevent sensitive lunatics like the rape kit from being turned against the victim.
Unfortunately, she encounters a strict attitude in the Order area. In particular, they clash with detective Szabo and her boss.
In the field of Law, there is a strong point originating from the Order. Olivia rises with Lorainne performances.
Szabo, Grandpa Green, Dora, Nina, Libby guest stars are beautiful. The family history is tragic. I wanted to believe in your grandfather's accident. So when I heard their words from Svu squad and Lorraine, he got his strict punishment at the end, I was shocked. I think it's as strict as the attitude of detective Zsabo and her boss to this family tragedy. It seems that more time is needed for joint repair.
Nevertheless, the article has written a solid chapter. Always Law must come before order. Order must be bound by Law. For justice.
