Camila Cabello and Lil Nas X are fighting over a man. Well, at least in their new “He Knows” video, which dropped Wednesday.
“I’ve just never seen that in a video before,” Cabello tells Rolling Stone about seeing a guy and a girl fight over a love interest. “I just loved the idea of us fighting over this fluid guy, who we don’t know which way he’s leaning. Much has been made about her past relationships with Shawn Mendes, and that pairing made headlines in 2019-21. However, her first ever proper relationship, as Cabello claims, was with Love Life coach Matthew Hussey in early 2018. At the time, the Havana singer was extremely nervous near him, while also being the happiest when she was around him.

The first twenty minutes of the 1979 horror film When a Stranger Calls (watch it Here) really creeped out movie-goers. It stuck in their heads, earning the movie cult classic status. The rest of the running time, viewers don’t often remember so clearly. So when Screen Gems gave the greenlight to a remake, they decided to expand those first twenty minutes to feature length, stretching out the thrills and suspense for as long as possible. It was a clever idea that was brought to the screen in an entertaining way. And if you haven’t seen the When a Stranger Calls remake, this is the best horror movie you never saw. (You can watch that one Here.)

About a half hour after Joe Biden finished up a give-em-hell type of State of the Union speech, he was still in the House chamber, shaking hands, taking selfies and chatting up other senators in candid moments that were caught on C-Span. The president lingered for so long that some photographers joked that soon the House chaplain may show up to give the next morning’s prayer.
Finally, House Speaker Mike Johnson, still on the rostrum, called an end to the proceedings, and the TV lights dimmed. Biden got the signal that it was time to go, but even then it took him a few more minutes to exit.
The speech and even Biden’s endurance in its aftermath should have provided some reassurance to Democrats fretting about Biden’s age and agility in recent months — as one prominent Hollywood backer put it to me the other day, the term is “freaking out.

It is one of Hindi films’ most cherished and eternal romantic songs, featuring the urbane Guru Dutt and the ethereal Waheeda Rehman, but the dream-like music for “Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho” was scored by its composer within 10 minutes and its opening lyrics took even lesser time. Music director Ravi, to whom we owe this melody, revealed the tune came to him as he was returning home from work and it took him “just 5 to 7 minutes” to refine it.
Stopping there, he called up lyricist Shakeel Badayuni and recited “Chaudvin ka chand ho…”. In a minute, Shakeel responded with “Ya aftaab ho…” and after another couple of minutes, added “Jo bhi ho tum khuda ki kasam, laajawab ho”.
“Chaudvin ka Chand” (1960) proved to be a pace-setter for Ravi, who was born in Delhi on this day (March 3) in 1926, for it established his reputation, and he went on to score for many...

Amandla Stenberg, in a recent interview, talked about her upcoming movie The Acolyte. Star Wars has one of the most dedicated fanbases in pop culture history, with fans clinging to beloved stories and characters for over 40 years now. So when a new Star Wars project dares to shake things up too much, it often faces intense scrutiny from fans. This brings us to rising Stenberg and her new Star Wars Disney+ series, The Acolyte.
What Exactly Is Amandla Stenberg Trying to Say About The Acolyte? Amandla Stenberg in The Hate U Give
In a recent interview with Magazine C, Stenberg admitted feeling “a little more trepidation than I thought” about joining the Star Wars universe. She even referenced controversial Star Wars director Rian Johnson, saying The Acolyte “tries to honor the ethos of Star Wars and also challenge them, hopefully harmoniously.” Her comments sound eerily similar to Rian Johnson’s approach to The Last Jedi,...

Paramount’s Bob Marley: One Love delivered a huge $50 million-plus domestic opening over the six-day Valentine’s Day-Presidents Day corridor, enough to crush Madame Web‘s $26.2 million start, a record worst for Sony’s superhero adventures.
Monday estimates show One Love raking in $52 million for the six days domestically, up from Sunday’s estimate of $51 million. That includes $34.1 million for the four-day Presidents Day weekend and a record $14 million on Valentine’s Day (rival studios say the decision to go out on sweetheart’s day was a smart choice in building momentum). The movie’s weekend debut is on par with the starts of such musical biopics as Rocketman or Elvis, and did almost double the business it was tracking to do. (Grosses for all films could shift again when final weekend numbers are tallied following the Monday holiday.)

Anthony Daniels has been stirringly loyal to the "Star Wars" media empire ever since its inception in 1977. Daniels played the prissy, cowardly droid C-3Po, an automaton built to aid in translation and matters of diplomacy. Curiously, he was programmed to flee from danger, and frequently comments on how his carbon-based compatriots are reckless and foolhardy. He may have a point, as C-3Po is dismembered and reassembled several times throughout "Star Wars" history.
Daniels has appeared inside the droid costume, or at least provided the voice for C-3Po in 14 feature films, not all of them "Star Wars" related. He played the part in "The Lego Movie," for instance. He also voice the popular droid in "The Star Wars Holiday Special," appeared on both "The Muppet Show" and "Sesame Street," starred in the animated series "Droids," and acted in over a dozen "Star Wars" and "Lego Star Wars" video games.

Keri Russell is pretty recognizable. From the college drama series "Felicity" to FX's spy thriller "The Americans," not to mention a small but key role in "Mission: Impossible III," general audiences know her face. However, fans may not have recognized her in "Star Wars: Episode IX -- The Rise of Skywalker," where she always wore a mask. Though we see her eyes for a bit, that's all we get. If you recall, her character, Zorii Bliss, encountered our Resistance heroes on the planet Kijimi, while they were looking for Babu Frik (Shirley Henderson) to get information from inside C-3Po (Anthony Daniels). Zorii has a past with Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), both romantically and as a fellow spice runner. Though she initially threatens them at blaster point, Zorii ends up helping the Resistance, even turning up with Babu Frik in the battle of Exegol.

Kate Cox, the Texas mother who sought permission to obtain an abortion, has been forced to flee the state to get medical care, her lawyers said on Monday.
“This past week of legal limbo has been hellish for Kate,” said Nancy Northup, president and CEO at the Center for Reproductive Rights, which represents Cox. “She’s been in and out of the emergency room and she couldn’t wait any longer.”
Cox, who lives in the Dallas area, was 20 weeks pregnant with her third child when the baby was diagnosed with trisomy 18, a fatal condition.

In the animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," we were introduced to the character of Professor Huyang, an architect and lightsaber designer droid who has been instructing younglings studying to be Jedi for, as he says in the series, "over a thousand generations." Visually designed with inspiration from concept artist Ralph McQuarrie's original art for C-3Po, Huyang's database has all the information about every lightsaber ever made and the Jedi who wielded it. He's got drawers full of lightsaber parts (which was based on creator Dave Filoni's grandfather's basement draws full of tools and parts), and he's always ready to help guide the young padawan in the creation of their first weapon. Plus, as we saw in the live-action Disney+ series "Ahsoka," he helps with Sabine's (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) lightsaber training. Huyang is voiced in both projects by David Tennant, aka the Tenth Doctor from "Doctor Who,...

For the last 46 years, many "Star Wars" fans have likely wondered why C-3Po, a protocol droid that specializes in translation and in human/cyborg relations, would be so afraid. From his own description, C-3Po was constructed to be a diplomatic aide, helping politicians and envoys strike deals and communicate more smoothly. To make that android also cowardly, prissy, and miserable seems functionally counterintuitive. Shouldn't a diplomatic aide droid be logical, forthright, and obedient? Of course, in the 1999 film "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace," it was revealed that C-3Po was constructed by an elementary school-aged Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) as little more than an idle home engineering exercise. So perhaps Anakin wasn't really thinking C-3Po through in terms of on-the-ground governmental diplomacy.

According to the Oxford Learner's Dictionary, the word "cast," merely as a verb, has 11 different definitions. The first verb is the one meaning "to look over," as in "cast a glance at." The second is the verb meaning to project light over something, i.e. "cast a shadow."
It's not until the fifth definition that one arrives at the word meaning "hire an actor for a part," as in "Anthony Daniels was cast as C-3Po in 'Star Wars.'" The eleventh definition is the verb meaning "pour liquid into a mold for the sake of duplicating a 3-D object," as in "casting in plaster."
Back in the mid-1970s, when Daniels was working his way through the audition process for "Star Wars," there was some unfortunate confusion between definition #5 and definition #11. The actor was one of the final actors being considered to play the droid C-3Po, the prissy,...

The film has Darshana Rajendran and Roshan Mathew in the lead.Still from 'Paradise'Across a phone call, Prasanna Vithanage’s voice fades mid-sentence. It must be the weather, he says when he is back. As I picture Sri Lanka in the rain, he asks, is it pouring hard in Kerala. It isn’t, but there has been a spell or two, right in the middle of Onam. Ah, Onam, he says fondly of Kerala’s biggest festival. Everything about Kerala appears very dear to this filmmaker in Sri Lanka, who has been coming to the state’s annual film festival (Iffk) year after year since it began in the mid-1990s. It seems apt that after decades of making many noticeable films, Prasanna has now made a...

San Francisco, July 30 (Ians) Apple has released the iOS 16.6 update that comes with over a dozen significant security improvements, two of which are currently being exploited by hackers.
The tech giant has shared details of over a dozen security flaws on its support page, ranging from categories including kernel, Find My, WebKit, and Apple Neural Engine.
According to Apple, two of the vulnerabilities were most likely actively exploited.
The exploited WebKit issue was first patched with Rapid Security Response iOS 16.5.1 (c). And the kernel flaw, which was most likely aggressively exploited, was probably fixed first with iOS 15.7.1.
However, Apple claims that iOS 16.6 addresses these vulnerabilities as well.
To manually install iOS 16.6, tap on Settings then General > Software Update. Then, tap Download and Install to kick off the update and keep your iPhone safe.
Meanwhile, Apple has released the iOS 17 public beta, which includes a new StandBy mode, personal voice feature and more.

David Zaslav has at last made a good decision with regards to the film history he acquired more than a year ago via the creation of Warner Bros. Discovery. The fact that Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Paul Thomas Anderson were metaphorically leaning over his shoulder is probably not a coincidence. However he got there though, it seems the small but indispensable cable network that is Turner Classic Movies has been spared a total ransacking by its new corporate owners.
The news became official Wednesday afternoon with the announcement that rather than staying totally under the control of Wbd TV Networks, creative decisions regarding the classic cinema network will now fall under the oversight of Warner Bros. Pictures bosses Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy (Wbd TV will still control TCM’s budget). Further, after being ousted just last week from TCM by Wbd’s cable network C-Suite, longtime chief TCM programmer,...

Jill, now 32 and a mother of three, opened up in the Prime Video docuseries Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets about what it was really like to film her family’s popular reality show. She says she felt like she had no choice but to fall in line with her dad Jim Bob Duggar’s demands that she and her husband, Derick Dillard, share their lives with millions of TV viewers. But when it came to letting a film crew document her labor, she tried to put her foot down.
As her due date approached, she says producers approached her about filming the birth.

"...is going to support you and teach you and you're going to learn from them," said Olsen.
"I just feel open to learning from people.
"Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.
"Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Stay positive and happy. Work hard and don't give up hope.

Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham is considered one of the greatest drummers of all time, but Paul McCartney wouldn’t necessarily have wanted him in The Beatles. He believed Ringo Starr was a much better fit for the band. McCartney shared why he might have been wary of working with Bonham, even though he liked Led Zeppelin.
John Bonham | Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage Paul McCartney compared Ringo Starr to John Bonham
Starr and Bonham are both widely considered to be among the best drummers of all time. Starr was an expert timekeeper, but Bonham was adaptable, powerful, and lively with his drumming. Their respective bands played different types of music, and McCartney said he would rather have Starr. He gave his bandmates a sense of comfort that Bonham wouldn’t have been able to.

"Star Trek: Discovery" has gone to some pretty wild places. The show's first two seasons were set about a decade prior to the events of the original 1966 "Star Trek" series, at a time when the Federation was about to go to war with the Klingon Empire. At that time, the U.S.S. Discovery had recently discovered that the entire galaxy was populated by a vast network of interdimensional spores(!) that aren't readable by most starship scanners. The Discovery was able to tie its engines into the network and instantaneously teleport anywhere in the galaxy. So much for trekking.
This was such an astonishing technology, even by "Star Trek" standards, that the writers of "Discovery" found themselves in a pickle. Wouldn't the ability to teleport anywhere in the galaxy cause a fundamental shift in the way "Star Trek" operates? Indeed, wouldn't any of the multiple "Star Trek" shows that followed...

The White House Correspondents’ Association dinner will draw loads of attention for the celebrities who show, the jokes that Joe Biden tells and the shtick that Roy Wood Jr. uses in his routine.
What often gets lost is the year-round role of the Whca itself, including pressing for access to the president and promoting the First Amendment. This year, there also will be reference to Evan Gershkovich, the Wall Street Journal journalist jailed in Russia, and Austin Tice, the freelance reporter kidnapped in Syria in 2012.
Deadline recently talked with Tamara Keith, the NPR White House correspondent who is the president of the Whca this year, about the Biden administration and the press, as well as what she plans to tell the dinner crowd at a time of economic distress in the media business.

No film in the history of the motion picture medium has ever been burdened by a more crushing weight of expectations than "Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace." The original trilogy of movies that kicked off with 1977's "Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope" had their roots in the try-anything era of New Hollywood. The studios were chasing trends and taking risks, trying to replicate the blockbuster success of "The Exorcist," "The Godfather" and, most importantly, "Jaws."
George Lucas' "Star Wars" was a box-office rainmaker. It is still the highest-grossing domestic movie of all time (adjusted for inflation). It revolutionized the film business at every level. The merchandising, the franchising ... everything that drives the industry today was pioneered by and ripped off from "Star Wars."

"We are not going to become more quiet, we're going to become louder." This film is more important than ever right now. A trailer has debuted for an abortion rights documentary titled Plan C, from director Tracy Droz Tragos. It first premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, and it's also playing at SXSW right now in Austin, TX. "Plan C" is actually a secret grassroots organization that persistently fights to expand access to abortion pills across the USA keeping hope alive during a global pandemic and the fall of Roe v. Wade. The film is about what happens when abortion safety becomes a major issue for Americans, and how they continue to make a difference by doing what is right and just and necessary. It features the co-founders of Plan C, Francine Coeytaux and Elisa Wells, plus plenty of other special guests out on the front-line helping and supporting women.

The box office saw another strong weekend, though this also being Oscar weekend and this being written on Sunday morning, we’re probably going to see a few minor adjustments on Monday when actual box office is reported.
Regardless, Paramount’s sequel, “Scream VI,” became the second franchise sequel in a row to exceed the opening of all previous installments. It came into the weekend with solid reviews of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it brought in more than $5.7 million just in Thursday previews. It won Friday with ease with an estimated $19.3 million, and that added up to an estimated $44.5 million for its opening weekend. That is indeed the best opening for the franchise, the previous record being 2000’s “Scream 3,” which opened with $34.7 million.

With her deeply invested observational documentaries, London-born French filmmaker Claire Simon has amassed a body of work somewhat comparable to that of American master Frederick Wiseman, in its focus on institutions and the transitory communities they foster. She has previously explored the teenage experience in a French high school (“Young Solitude”); the foot traffic in Gare du Nord train station (“Human Geography”); the comings and goings in Paris’ Bois de Vincennes park (“The Woods Dreams Are Made Of”); and one of the annual intake sessions at Le Fémis, the country’s leading film school (“The Competition”). Her latest outing, “Our Body” luxuriant in length but never less than compelling, immerses us in the day-to-day drama in a French hospital, specifically the departments dedicated to women’s health, with typically compassionate and insightful results. Typical, that is, until Simon herself unexpectedly becomes one of her own subjects.

Various prominent figures didn’t all share positive sentiments for him, but none of them questioned his star power with American moviegoers. Emperor Hirohito and Wayne had a private conversation that a journalist asked about, although the Western legend wasn’t having any of it.

As the online landscape continues to shift and evolve in the screen sector, so too do the conversations surrounding streaming legislation in Canada. The current iteration of that dialogue, Bill C-11, is in the final stages of voting at the Senate this week. It is expected to be passed back to the Commons for a final vote and eventual passage into law in the coming days.
Just as decision-makers wrapped that bill’s third reading on Feb. 2, Canadian screen leaders took the stage at the Canadian Media Producers Association’s (Cmpa) annual Prime Time event in Ottawa. There, they discussed media policy and potential changes to the industry in the years ahead.
Unsurprisingly, most of that discussion revolved around the concerns some of the 26 amendments to the 56-page bill have raised. (The bill is the longest study ever conducted at a Senate committee.) While the heart of the bill is...
