When Showtime acquisitions head Gary Garfinkel made the move to pick up the strikingly intimate new Kings of Leon documentary “Talihina Sky” after his staff found it as a work in progress at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, there was no way of knowing how hot a topic the band would become. Documentary Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon goes to Showtime. Showtime has scheduled an August 21 premiere for the project, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Talihina Sky chronicles how family members Nathan, Caleb, Jared and Matthew Followill went from a strict upbringing to start Kings of Leon, a Grammy-winning band . Stephen C. Mitchell directs the film which the Followills are executive producing.
