This is a good brief entry into the world of the most elusive cat. We can also see the beauty from the pakistani side of the great mountain range.Overall worth the time

On the Trail of the Leopard

This disarmingly nuanced Natural World doc was featured on the blu-ray release for Planet Earth, and was filmed during its production. It follows the gently pragmatic journalist Nisar Malik and the endearingly rattled cameraman Mark Smith in their various travails trying to capture footage of the snow leopard. Having Malik as the central focus lends the endeavour a very journalist flair and it covers a swathe of unexpectedly deep topics around the beautiful leopard itself - warfare, natural disaster, engaging with local communities and even has quite a terse exchange with a scientist about their methodology. A fascinating window into just one element of filming the epic Planet Earth and a really remarkably strong bit of documentary making in its own right.
