Regardless of how you feel about horror anthology films, it’s obvious that they aren’t going anywhere. And why would they? The format allows for nascent filmmakers to flex their chops on a short segment before feeling the pressure of a full feature; and given that the short story is the most prominent and effective form of horror (just look at the masters: Poe, Lovecraft, Matheson), it also provides the opportunity to experience these tales visually without stretching them thin to reach standard film length. It’s like reading a literary magazine from cover to cover: different styles, different effects, different scares. I’m all for it.

Crestfallen is a film that ponders with issues dealing with a person deciding to commit suicide. In the course of the film, their needs to be an even greater connection to the character then usual, because viewers need to sympathize with the character and feel sorry for the person. They don't necessarily have to think suicide is the right answer for that character, they just got to be able to relate to the feelings a person might have leading them to make that decision. With only a running time of six minutes, Crestfallen isn't able to achieve that connection with the main character. The main problem is, the film only runs six minutes! It just isn't enough time...
