It appears that The Walking Dead co-creators Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore have finally reached an agreement over the long-running legal issues over The Walking Dead which were first initiated by Moore earlier this year.
In February of this year, Tony Moore made quite a splash in the comic book world by claiming that Kirkman had knowingly deceived him when he was was asked to sign a contract that effectively transferred most of the property rights to Kirkman, the writer of the critically acclaimed title. These property rights became a very big deal for all parties involved with the success of AMC’s groundbreaking adaptation of the comic book series.
Then, later in the year, Moore filed an additional claim in federal court, demanding that he retain co-authorship rights for The Walking Dead as well several additional comic book properties such as Battle Pope. Throughout this sensitive ordeal, Moore went...

Roughly six months after suing former collaborator (and childhood friend) Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore is now approaching a federal court in hopes of legally declaring himself a co-author of “The Walking Dead”, a comic book series that has blossomed into a wildly successful franchise since its 2003 debut. In addition to “The Walking Dead” co-authorship, Moore is also looking to be compensated for several other comic-book properties that he worked on with Kirkman, including “Battle Pope,” “Brit” and two other potential comic book series titled “Dead Planet” and “My Name Is Abraham.”
'The Walking Dead' #1 (2003)
Tony Moore was partnered with Robert Kirkman as the creative team behind “The Walking Dead” when it first launched in 2003, illustrating the first six issues of the black-and-white horror series. When he filed his lawsuit back in February, Moore had claimed that Kirkman fraudulently convinced him to sign away his copyright interests for “The Walking Dead...

It's one thing when a comic book that you wrote becomes a sensational television show beloved by all. But two comic books? If anyone deserves that praise, it's certainly Robert Kirkman.
Best known for creating "The Walking Dead" and acting as executive producer on the show, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Kirkman's newest comic book series, "Thief of Thieves," is now in development over at AMC.
This should come as no surprise, being as Kirkman's "Walking Dead" has done incredibly well commercially for the cable network. Raking in a total of 9 million viewers for its season finale, "Walking Dead" continues to reach the much-coveted age demographics that advertisers so desperately seek. Click past the jump for more on "Thief of Thieves."

With The Walking Dead returning to AMC tonight, there could be an even bigger threat to the series as we know it: Original artist Tony Moore, co-creator with Robert Kirkman on the first six issues of the series, has filed suit against his onetime partner accusing him of promissory fraud, breach of written contract and other charges.
Moore claims that Kirkman persuaded him to assign his rights on Walking Dead and other properties to a limited liability corporation controlled by Kirkman, who allegedly hasn’t shared any royalty or other payments for Walking Dead or any of the other works.
Moore asserts that in September 2005 he and Kirkman entered into the agreement which assigned Moore 60% of comic publishing net proceeds for The Walking Dead and another title Brit, 20% of all motion picture net proceeds for Walking Dead and Brit and 50% of all motion picture net proceeds in connection with another title Battle Pope.

Tony Moore is suing The Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman. The artist claims that he was duped into transferring his interest in the hit franchise over to Kirkman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Moore, who filed documents at Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday (February 9), says that he made a deal entitling him to 60% of the comics revenue and 20% of the TV/movie revenue.
