This show marked the debut of the Dudley Boys gimmick. During the Pitbulls (Pitbull #1 (Gary Wolf)) and Pitbull #2 (Anthony Durante))-Dudley Boys (Dudley Dudley (Jeff Bradley) and Little Snot Dudley (Anthony Michaels), with Big Dick Dudley (Alex Rizzo)) match, Joey Styles, predicting that the Dudleys would lose, said that this would be the last time they would see the Dudleys. The Dudley Boys won after Raven (Scott Levy), who was in the Pitbulls' corner, got annoyed because his flunky Stevie Richards (Michael Manna) was getting distracted by his fan in the crowd (Francine Fournier) and dragged Stevie and Beulah McGillicutty (Trisa Hayes) back to the locker room, leaving the Pitbulls without Raven's guidance. Little Snot Dudley left soon after, so that the original combination of the Dudleys (Dudley and Little Snot) never happened again after "ECW Heat Wave" two weeks later, but, many more Dudleys would follow.
The "Stretcher Out Cornette's Boys" sign seen during the Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge (Mike Durham) and Flyboy Rocco Rock (Ted Petty))-Gangstas (New Jack (Jerome Young) and Mustafa (Jamal Mustafa))
match is a reference to how the Gangstas started in James E. Cornette's Smoky Mountain Wrestling promotion, and to the feud between ECW's Paul Heyman and Cornette. Given how the Gangstas left SMW without really giving notice, and all the negativity between Cornette and New Jack, calling them "Cornette's Boys" constituted a serious insult.
Featured ECW Commissioner Tod Gordon "firing" Shane Douglas from ECW, as Douglas was on his way to WWE at the time, in response to Douglas' interference in the ECW World Heavyweight Champion the Sandman (Jim Fullington)-Cactus Jack (Mick Foley) match. Douglas beat up Tod and 911 (Al Poling) made the save, Chokeslamming Douglas to send him off to WWE. He would return at "ECW House Party 96" on January 5th.
The Chad Austin (Chad Slivenski)/The Broad Street Bully (Tony Matteo)-Donn E. Allen (Don Adelberg)/Dino Sendoff (Dino Sandorff) match featured blown spots (mistakes), with the crowd turning on it and Joey Styles even saying, "This match isn't very good." Then "Frankenstein" by The Edgar Winter Group played, bringing out 911 (Al Poling) and manager Paul E. Dangerously (Paul Heyman). 911 Chokeslammed all four guys to the cheers of the crowd.
Tommy Dreamer and Luna Vachon challenged ECW World Tag Team Champions Raven and Stevie Richards for the belts here, making Luna the only woman to challenge for a title in ECW history, as the promotion never had a women's division.
