A Brief History Lecture on the State of Bengal
Bengal & Revolution goes hand in hand since time immemorial. Bengal's contribution to India's Independence is unquestionable, unparalleled. This land's history has invariably been at the forefront of several movements, revolts and powerful resistance against British imperialism and its heinous, illegitimate acts.
Even after post-independence, the people of Bengal have always been vocal about all the issues that pertained to National Interest. I need hardly say, the significance of Bengal, from a political standpoint has been unprecedented. However, we have had our shares of crises and mismanagements too. Be it the '43s Famine, or the notorious "Naxalbari" Movement; that eventually led to Naxalite-Maoist Insurgency in our state.
Hoichoi's "Mukhyamantri" vigorously showcases all of that and some more. The title may suggest it's solely a documentary on all the Chief Ministers, the state of Bengal has had since India's independence; Let me tell you, it's more than that. A brief history lecture for both the academics and the unaware.
The presentation is simple yet precisely to the point. It's neat and very much focused on facts and figures, unlike a majority of the Political Documentaries out there. I'm not saying they are completely impartial with their comments and observations; yet, I have to admit, they tried their best to maintain a reasonable balance between subjective philosophies and historical findings and information. A praiseworthy attempt for sure!

The story telling & the graphical showdown is just impeccable. I feel it is the best Docuseries ever created in Bengal. The narrative of Indian Independence to our recent times & how Bengal has survived through all these years has been captured amazingly.
I wish some great docuseries like this comes up in the near future. Loved it althrough.

Highly biased towards Left ideology
The series portrays left ideology and it's goverment as kind of messiah and fails to portray their ill doings and how they destroyed the state by shutting down factories, political killings, repression of English education, boycotting technology. How they undo the achievements of Bidhan Roy.
It highlights the shortcomings of non left government but doesn't show their achievements. Portrays people from east Pakistan as people of West Bengal. Majority of whom are communist supporters. Not recommended to watch.
Viewers must read additional information on internet to find balance with this series.
