As the Undertaker announces his retirement, we look back at his Wrestlemania record...
This article is from Den Of Geek Us.
WrestleMania XXX was an eventful show. It calmed the fears of those afraid that it would crash the WWE Network and cause major damage to the company's latest venture. Cesaro broke away from his tag team and broke out by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy. Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and the Rock hung out in the ring and had a blast. Mr. T and Roddy Piper buried the hatchet. Daniel Bryan went through an endless supply of punishment before being defeating Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista.
That was a big moment and a major story, but the thing people will be talking about for a long time is the end of Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar. For the first time ever, Undertaker lost at...

The tears of the man himself were only matched by those coming from the eyes of the fans. On the April 11, 2011 episode of Monday Night Raw, Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland stood in the middle of the ring and announced to everyone that he was retiring from professional wrestling. It was clear that he did so unwillingly, but doctors had given the man an ultimatum.
Threatened with the risk of being being confined to a wheelchair should be continue taking bumps, Copeland elected to walk away while he still could. There’s no doubt it was a smart decision, his neck was in bits following many years of working a punishing in-ring style.
By his own admission, Edge had paid the price for agreeing to take many of the bumps he had absorbed in big-money matches during his near-20 year career in the grappling industry. At the time, they were very much worth it,...

WrestleMania Xxvii was a momentous evening for a single reason – after seven years, The Rock was finally -Finally – back in WWE. On February 14, 2011, “The Great One” made his long-awaited return to the company, announcing that he was going to be guest hosting the event.
In the weeks that followed, WWE’s live gates jumped up as fans anticipated the next appearance of The Rock.
Apart from that, WrestleMania Xxvii was a bust. While The Rock was responsible for the show doing huge business, reviews coming out of the event were overwhelmingly negative. There was only a single match on the show worthy of the name WrestleMania, and from top to bottom, the card was incredibly weak.
The show’s problems, in retrospect, were no surprise. WWE had been in a creative slump for months, with The Nexus angle bombing badly in late 2010 and erasing a lot of optimism...

In many ways, WrestleMania 28 is the grandest WWE show of the past decade.
While there are many years when the show’s main event doesn’t feel worthy of all the hype that goes into it, that charge certainly couldn’t be levied at WrestleMania 28. In a bout first announced 363 days earlier, John Cena, WWE’s top star and the standard bearer for his generation, took on The Rock, WWE’s most charismatic and famous superstar ever.
Not only was the bout unmatchable from a marquee standpoint, but the rest of the show was strong, as well.
After a surprisingly good showing at WrestleMania Xxvii, Triple H and The Undertaker agreed to a rematch – this time in Hell in a Cell with Shawn Michaels as referee. In the third of three main events, Cm Punk was set to defend the WWE Championship against Chris Jericho, a dream match...

When The Rock and John Cena shook hands in Atlanta, the night after WrestleMania Xxvii, I knew the following year would be a show I wouldn’t wanna miss. My friends and I booked our tickets for Miami, Florida but little did we know how much of an amazing trip it would end up being.
Miami is such an incredible host city – from the great weather to the party atmosphere, it had it all.
We were lucky enough to get a hotel that looked straight out onto the beach so many afternoons were spent catching some rays near the water as we got tanked on the margaritas from the hotel bar.
Since we had two friends who had never been to ‘Mania before, we ended up taking them to WrestleMania Axxess and, as you can see in the picture above, I channeled my inner Undertaker and decided to do this pose.

If you’re a semi-regular Monday Night Raw viewer, you can typically tell when it’s WrestleMania season: Undertaker starts showing up, other part-timers come out of the woodwork, Hall of Fame inductions are announced, and WWE brass try to push a main event that fans outright reject down our collective throats.
Sad to say, that’s actually become a routine thing in recent years. Consider WrestleMania Xxvii, with Miz versus John Cena headlining, or Xxix, with the Cena/Rock rematch (of a “Once in a Lifetime” match, no less), or XXX, with Randy Orton and Batista battling for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, or last year’s title match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. None of those matches (with the possible exception of Rock/Cena) was something fans were particularly starved for and demanding. Hogan/Andre, Austin/Michaels or Undertaker/Hbk they weren’t.

The Undertaker versus Brock Lesnar. For many years, fans had been salivating at the possibility of seeing these two men face off at WrestleMania. Despite initial rumours suggesting they’d face off at WrestleMania Xxvii, they’d end up holding off on that confrontation until ‘Mania XXX. There was so much hype and excitement when they first signed the contract for the match.
Afterwards, however, thing fell flat.
So much so that if you tried to picture the ‘Taker-Lesnar feud of 2014 as a white line, there would be an enormous gap in the middle. At the time, this feud was built solely on the names of the wrestlers involved, and the only effective hype segment was when Undertaker ‘stabbed’ Lesnar with a pen and Chokeslammed him through a table.

Last week, Atlanta Police issued an arrest warrant for WWE Superstar Heath Slater after he was alleged to have assaulted a woman following WrestleMania Xxvii in 2011.
Slater, whose real name is Heath Miller, is accused of putting female hotel security guard in a chokehold and trying to force her back to his room. The woman in question did not report the incident to police, instead informing her employer, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
As expected, Slater, who is still a regular on WWE television, denied the charges and released this statement on Twitter: “The charges & civil suit brought against me are completely frivolous. I am innocent and these charges will be dismissed as soon as any judge hears the evidence. My attorney Don Samuel will handle this matter.”

There’s a lot of misunderstanding that crops up when people discuss the idea of the ‘shoot’ and the ‘worked shoot’. A shoot is a completely unscripted moment in the otherwise entirely worked world of professional wrestling, whether it’s an off-the-cuff remark, an angle gone off the rails, or a wrestler going into business for himself during a match.
A worked shoot, on the other hand, is a planned and approved segment on a wrestling show that’s given the appearance of being a shoot. Where a shoot is just someone deviating from the script, a worked shoot is an attempt to fool an audience that’s become blasé about knowing that wrestling is a work.
In the right hands, and with the right preparation, a worked shoot can be the most incendiary angle a promotion can put on, garnering mainstream publicity and laying the groundwork for...

With WWE’s next pay-per-view (or ‘special event’) happening on June 1st, the creative team find themselves in a delicate situation. The neck injury sustained by Daniel Bryan leaves them without a WWE World Heavyweight Champion and reduces the show’s star power even more. Coming from Chicago for the second consecutive year, Payback only has rematches of Evolution vs The Shield and John Cena vs Bray Wyatt, along with an Intercontinental Championship match between Bad News Barrett and Rob Van Dam. Whilst the two main events will be interesting and should deliver in quality, these rematches won’t convince non-Network subscribers to fork out $45. And with the WWE’s stock plummeting recently, the corporate staff in Connecticut certainly doesn’t want to miss out on money!
In a rare move, a promo has been announced for Payback, where Bryan has to either surrender his title or his wife Brie gets fired.

Atlanta — If Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson never steps back into the ring for a professional wrestling match, he won't have a problem staying retired, even though his last bout was a loss to nemesis John Cena.
But the 41-year-old action movie hero said he won't rule out a return to the ring that made him famous.
"I'd like to leave it open. But if I'd never wrestle again, I'd be very content with that," Johnson said recently while on set filming the season finale of TNT's "The Hero," which airs Thursday night. "Winning or losing never really mattered to me. The whole idea was to put on a great match. Got injured in that match. Still was able to walk out on my own, which I was more happy about. I don't know. We'll see."
Johnson's wrestling career has been in question after he lost his WWE championship to Cena in WrestleMania Xxvii in April.

Last night on Monday Night Raw, reigning WWE Champion Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Finally relieved himself and the WWE of that sparkling monstrosity that the WWE Champion was forced to carry for eight years. He debuted a brand new design for the championship, complete with custom Brahma Bull side-plates to celebrate his own reign. The majority of WWE fans have long called for the end to the ‘Spinner’ title belt and at long last, WWE have answered. Only three weeks ago I posted an article that argued there was no better time for a new design than now. Cm Punk’s mammoth reign as champion marked the end of a period were the championship was swapped on a bi-monthly basis. Punk aimed to bring credibility back to the WWE and back to the championship and his lengthy reign did just that. This new era and newfound credibility has now been...

When Jack Swagger debuted in WWE, it seemed like the former Ncaa star was primed for success, being pushed right off the bat on the Ecw brand with a six month long undefeated streak and winning the Ecw World Heavyweight Championship just over five months after his debut.
After a successful run in Ecw, Swagger was moved to the Raw brand, where he’d win the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania Xxvi, granting him a future World Title shot over the course of that year. “The All-American American” cashed in his contract five days later on April 2, 2010, defeating Chris Jericho to capture his first and currently only World Heavyweight Championship.
After a poorly booked 82-day reign, Swagger began to spiral down the WWE ladder, eventually forming a partnership with Michael Cole as a part of the Texan commentator’s feud with Jerry “The King” Lawler leading up to WrestleMania Xxvii.

WrestleMania! The grandest stage of them all. The platform for wrestlers to leave their mark on the profession they love. Unfortunately for some wrestlers though, WrestleMania has been a platform to leave the wrong kind of mark.
Here’s our list of 5 of the worst, most embarrassing moments in the history of WrestleMania.
5. The Undertaker ‘Hangs’ Big Bossman (WrestleMania Xv)
Growing up myself and my sister always had a rivalry as to who was better. She foolishly thought The Undertaker was the greatest of all time (even then) while I knew the greatest wrestler on the WWF roster was The Big Bossman. Sadly the two legends paths never seemed to cross so we never resolved our feud. That was until they met at Wrestlemania Xv when they fought it out in possibly the shortest Hell in a Cell match ever … maybe Undertaker’s worst ‘Mania match ever? So how do...

Not long after Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson returned to the WWE last year — and shortly before the wrestler-turned-actor-turned-wrestler again unleashed the People's Elbow at WrestleMania Xxvii, the man himself promised MTV News he'd inflict some serious damage on someone during the biggest night in wrestling.
"I'm going to take my fist and lay it across somebody's lips and take my boot — which is a size 14, so it's a big boot — and stick it straight up somebody's ass," he bragged.
The ass in question turned out, in fact, to be two asses: John Cena's and the Miz's. Both men felt the wrath of the Rock at WrestleMania. On April 1 at WrestleMania Xxviii, the Rock is set to...

Normal 0 false false false En-us Ja X-none With 2011 having recently drawn to a close, one question has been on the tip of every snarky Internet wrestling commentator's tongue: what was the best match of the year? Putting aside voices in the wilderness crying out for their favorite puroresu bout or Chikara quirkfest, the general consensus seems to be that the best wrestling match of 2011 was John Cena vs. Cm Punk at WWE's Money in the Bank, with wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer even having awarded it one of his rare and coveted five-star ratings. From my viewpoint, however, the best match of the year went down much earlier, when Triple H faced the Undertaker at WrestleMania Xxvii.
I wouldn't dare claim that Cena vs. Punk wasn't a tremendous, memorable match worth revisiting - in fact, it's definitely, without a doubt, my favorite match of the year, hands down, no argument.

Who would you trust to teach you how to survive against unnatural beasts? You'd trust The Rock, that's who.
Dwayne Johnson will take on the supernatural world for the first time since 2005's "Doom" (if you don't count "The Tooth Fairy" or "Race to Witch Mountain") as he's signed on to star in "Monster Hunter's Survival Guide," according to Deadline.
"Monster" is based on the comic book miniseries by John Paul Russ, a comprehensive guide on how to hunt monsters -- and, more importantly, how to survive such confrontations.
Johnson had a great year with "Fast Five," which made over $626 in worldwide box office, and he re-emerged as The Rock to host WrestleMania Xxvii. He gets back in the ring and is the main event for this Sunday's Survivor Series at Madison Square Garden, which sold out in 90 minutes, and he'll be the headliner of WrestleMania Xxviii, which has already broken ticket sales records.

In the WWE, a Superstar’s career is made and broken on your personality and gimmick. You could have the best in-ring ability in the world, but if you can’t find a way to connect with the audience and tell a story, there is a good chance your name will be on the Future Endeavours list. Roster members like Santino Marella aren’t beloved by the WWE Universe because of their technical abilities (or lack thereof), but because their character and showmanship has always entertained them and made them laugh. In the world of Sports Entertainment, as WWE calls it, wrestling ability is almost secondary.
This is something that Cody Rhodes has clearly learned during his time in the company. I remember watching his very first appearance back in 2007, in a backstage segment with his father, the charismatic and much loved Dusty Rhodes, and Randy Orton. He would continue...

Steve Austin, six times world champion and WWE wrestling legend, and star of films such as The Expendables and The Stranger, returns to the screens in the unmissable Born To Fight on DVD & Blu-ray 3rd October 2011.
Currently hosting the WWE Tough Enough Us reality show series, and having just finished his guest referee spot at Wrestlemania Xxvii, Steve Austin now steps into the boxing ring for the very first time with his latest acting role in Born To Fight!
Matthew’s first day at his new school inevitably turns sour when his nerd-like tendencies soon attract the attention of the school bullies, most notably the school’s undisputed boxing champ Hector. When an innocent initiation challenge leads him to being humiliated and roughed up by Hector, in steps the janitor, a muscle-bound retired fighter named Dan (Steve Austin), who comes to Matthew’s rescue and suggests that he joins the school’s boxing club.
Currently hosting the WWE Tough Enough Us reality show series, and having just finished his guest referee spot at Wrestlemania Xxvii, Steve Austin now steps into the boxing ring for the very first time with his latest acting role in Born To Fight!

On Sunday night, I ended my seven-year hiatus from professional wrestling when I attended a screening of Wrestlemania Xxvii, the WWE's annual celebration of Spandex and suplexes. And almost immediately, I realized why I had decided to stop watching this stuff in the first place.
Because, boy, was the show awful. Full of bizarre bookings (Alberto Del Rio wuz robbed!), plodding matches (I'm still recovering from the Undertaker/Hhh snooze-fest) and, of course, an anti-climactic finale (having The Rock bury both challenger John Cena and champion The Miz was a rather, uh, interesting choice, to say the very least), it was a listless four hours that left me feeling empty inside. And while, sure, there were a few bright spots — why has no one ever told me about this Cm Punk guy?!?! — overall, I feel pretty secure saying that I can probably go another seven years without watching the WWE again.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi swung by WrestleMania Xxvii last night to show off some surprisingly kick-ass moves, including a double-flip back-attack that totally leveled WWE star Michelle McCool. You can see the end result in the image above: Snooki successfully pinned her opponent, even though McCool is roughly four feet taller than L’il Shnookums. (Maybe McCool should consider changing her name to “Lois McLame.”) All hail Snooki triumphant! Check out some grainy amateur video of Snooki’s acrobatic feats of strength after the jump…

Snooki surprised everyone last night when she won her fight against Michelle McCool at WWE's Wrestlemania Xxvii in Atlanta. The Jersey Shore star teamed up with John Morrison and Trish Stratus in a match against Dolph Ziggler, Layla and Michelle that originated a few weeks ago at Monday Night Raw.
"Snooki gets the tag! Snooki, a handspring elbow, I'm amazed!" commentator Jim Ross said as Snooks did an impressive flip. "A hook of the leg and Snooki has won the match! We might be on the verge of Snooki-mania!"

Don't mess with Snooki. She just may flip out on you.
The "Jersey Shore" star took part in a six way, inter-gender grudge match at Wrestlemania Xxvii on Sunday, amazing the crowd in Atlanta with her acrobatics as she flipped and handspringed her way to victory.
Teamed with John Morrison and Trish Stratus, the mighty might took on Dolph Zigger, Layla El and Michelle McCool in the match, with McCool on the unfortunate receiving end of the astonishing display of athleticism.
Perhaps it shouldn't be too surprising; the star did participate in gymnastics until she was 13, and was then captain of her high school cheerleading squad.

This weekend, over 70,000 live fans and millions more at home will cast their eyes on WrestleMania Xxvii, the biggest event of the year in professional wrestling. The show will be live from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and will be hosted by Dwayne Johnson (who has brought "The Rock" back to the WWE). The top matches include a tilt between two legends (Triple H versus the Undertaker), a six-person tag match starring an MTV personality (John Morrison, Trish Stratus and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi against Dolph Ziggler and LayCool) and the match for the coveted WWE Championship (current title-holder the Miz defending against John Cena).
Cena has been the perpetual headliner at WrestleMania for the better part of the past five years or so (he had been in one of the main events of each WrestleMania since 2005, and he has gone on last twice). But though he's the top guy in the company now,...

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.
As always, this year's WrestleMania (the 27th the series, which makes it about the same age as the MTV Video Music Awards) features some guest appearances from a number of celebrities. Keri Hilson will be performing "America the Beautiful" at the event (which takes place this Sunday, April 3 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta), and one of the big matches on the card includes "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. She'll team up with John Morrison and Trish Stratus (the trio are calling themselves the Brunette Mafia) to take on the team of Dolph Ziggler and LayCool in what should be a fun and interesting match.

This week will be remembered forever as the end of the reign of "Born This Way." After debuting in the top spot and spending six weeks there, the lead single from Lady Gaga's upcoming album of the same name has dropped to number four on the Billboard Hot 100. Katy Perry's "E.T." takes its place on top after seven weeks, picking up a ton of airplay in the past week. Expect the track to stick around for a while, especially considering the video for "E.T." premieres tonight (Thursday, March 31) at 7:53 p.m. Et on MTV and MTV.com.
Perry wasn't the only star to change the game in the top 10, as Wiz Khalifa stormed the upper echelon of the chart with "No Sleep." Khalifa, who previously topped the chart with "Black and Yellow" and also has his "Roll Up" at number 29, just released his major label debut Rolling...

I can't hear very well this afternoon, which I can mostly blame on John Cena. I didn't crank up his album You Can't See Me and blow out my ear drums, but rather, I was deafened by the crowd that gathered at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City for the WrestleMania Xxvii press conference. Hosted by villainous play-by-play man Michael Cole, the event not only welcomed several dozen members of the media and some of the headliners from WWE's biggest show (which airs this Sunday, April 3 at 7 p.m. on pay-per-view) but also opened the doors for a group of rabid fans who brought their enthusiasm (and their chants) to Times Square.
I have been a fan of professional wrestling for years and plan on watching the big show this weekend. Hosted by Dwayne Johnson (returning to WWE as the Rock), WrestleMania Xxvii promises to be fantastically over-the-top and wildly entertaining.

When Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson announced his intention — during a raucous appearance on "Raw" last month — to return to the world of WWE to host WrestleMania Xxvii, the question for fans was whether the grappler-turned-Hollywood hotshot would get in the ring for the first time since 2004.
And in a chat with MTV News this week, Johnson made clear he's expecting to do much more than simply emcee the event. "I'm going to take my fist and lay it across somebody's lips and take my boot — which is a size 14, so it's a big boot — and stick it straight up somebody's ass," he told us. "How about that? I say that with love!"

“Ladies and gentlemen,” yelled an announcer five weeks ago on the WWE’s Raw, “Please welcome the host of WrestleMania 27.” The lights in the arena dimmed. A minute’s worth of anticipation built. Then, a voice… “If ya smeeeeelllll what The Rock is cookin’” came roaring from the speakers. And out came the man himself – scowling and posturing like he’d never left. Really though, Dwayne Johnson was gone for seven years.

Having already made a name for herself as one of the breakout stars of MTV's hit show "Jersey Shore" and scoring herself a spot on the New York Times Bestseller list, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi will now attempt to conquer the world of professional wrestling.
Snooki was the special guest on Monday night's (March 14) episode of WWE's flagship show "Raw," and she managed to get involved during a match between Vickie Guerrero and returning former WWE Women's Champion Trish Stratus. Guerrero won the match with some assistance from boyfriend Dolph Ziggler and pals Layla and Michelle McCool, and once the match was over, the women called out Snooki, letting her know that she was now in their world (and not in a club on the shore). Snooki apparently took exception to their rant and attacked McCool. Stratus and John Morrison (who is currently feuding with Ziggler) helped Snooki clear the ring,...

One of the most important aspect of a professional wrestler's persona is his entrance music. It's the signal that lets the world know that he is coming, and a good song can often enhance the character with only a few chords and words. Hulk Hogan's legacy certainly would not have been as great had he not had "Real American" playing over the speakers every time he ripped his shirt off, and the likes of the Ultimate Warrior, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase, the Undertaker, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and the Rock all had distinct music that perfectly complimented their huge personalities.
As far as entrance themes go, Triple H has one of the best. His tune, "The Game," is one of the more savage entries on the WWE playlist, which is owed to the fact that Motörhead recorded the track for him. Over the course of his career,...
