While he spent most of the struggling to mount his cursed project "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote," Terry Gilliam certainly hasn't been sitting idle, rocking a webcast for the Arcade Fire in August, directing an energy drink mini-movie thing “The Legend Of Hallowdega” and he’s currently gearing up for a production of Berlioz’s “The Damnation of Faust” at the English National Opera in London. But it looks like he's going to squeeze in one more film project before he focuses in on his stage project. Terry Gilliam will be shooting a short film, "The Wholly Family," with shooting to…...

Film festivals have for many years been a staple of most serious film fans’ experience. They are a great way to see a host of obscure and hard to find films and to see them gloriously displayed on the big screen. A lot of film festivals though tend to show the same old thing despite their venue and location differences. However, in Atlanta, Ga, there is a truly inspired festival called The Buried Alive Film Festival which is scheduled for November 12 & 13 at the historic Plaza Theater.
Bigger and better than ever, this year’s Buried Alive Film Festival is being sponsored by Fangoria magazine and the forthcoming American Horrors TV show and will screen five features – four of them Southeast premieres – and over 30 stunning short films from around the world.
The 2010 event also marks the first Us festival appearance of multiple award-winning British filmmaker, Ashley Thorpe, the first Southeastern appearance...

Last month we shared a trailer with you for a short film directed by Terry Gilliam called The Legend of Hallowdega. The film premiered on Oct. 31st and now it up online for everyone to see. This is a horror comedy that revolves around the sport of Nascar, which is something I never thought I'd see Gilliam do.
The short stars David Arquette and Justin Kirk, and it "explores the mysteries around Talladega Superspeedway as the host of an investigative news show (Kirk) joins forces with a techno-geek paranormal expert (Arquette) to dodge close-calls and chase crazy leads to get to the bottom of The Legend Of Hallowdega."
Here's the full synopsis from the official site:

Produced by Amp Energy Juice and @radical.media Terry Gilliam's short film "The Legend Of Hallowdega" is about as good as you might expect a film backed by a beverage company and a branding agency to be. Starring David Arquette and Justin Kirk as well as race car drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Darrell Waltrip, the mockumentary is put together as a fictional taping of the "World Of The Unexplained," an "Unsolved Mysteries" styled program probing the supernatural. Led by the show's host, played by Kirk, the eighteen minute short investigates whether or not the Talladega race track is haunted and…...

As a Halloween surprise, director Terry Gilliam‘s short film The Legend Of Hallowdega starring David Arquette and Justin Kirk has been released online. I saw a preview of this during New York Comic-Con and thought it was a complete joke, but it turns out it is a real film and you can seen the entire 18 minutes and 11 seconds of proof below via the official site. Featuring appearances by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Darrell Waltrip the short was shot on location in Charlotte, Nc and at Talladega Superspeedway.
Gilliam also recently directed the Arcade Fire performance from Madison Square Garden this summer. Funding for his continually failed project The Man Who Killed Don Quixote has also recently collapsed so it may be awhile before we something else from this director.
