Gavin Polone has filed suit against the Gilmore Girls TV series revival coming to Netflix. In addition to Gilmore Girls, Polone was an Ep on Twisted, which was cancelled by ABC Family (now Freeform) after one 19-episode season, and Jane By Design, which was cancelled by the same network, also after a single season. Povone executive produced Gilmore Girls from 2000 to 2007 and now, he says his contract stipulates that he should be paid.
According to a report in Variety, Povone argues, "...an agreement for the original series entitles him to payments for the revival. He contends that their agreement from 2000 and settlement agreement from 2002 entitles him to $32,500 for each episode produced after 2003, a percentage of the modified adjusted gross, and credit as executive producer in the opening title or main credit."

Following the Season 5 premiere of Once Upon a Time, ABC debuted its new drama Blood & Oil. The series follows Billy (Gossip Girl‘s Chace Crawford) and Cody (Red Band Society‘s Rebecca Rittenhouse), a young married couple who head to Rock Springs, North Dakota to start their own business and end up becoming entangled with oil baron, Hap Briggs (Don Johnson), and his powerful wife, Carla (Revenge‘s Amber Valletta). The show also stars Greek‘s Scott Michael Foster, Jane By Design‘s India de Beaufort, and The Following‘s Adan Canto. Personally, I wasn’t too impressed with Blood & Oil‘s premiere (which is partly why I didn’t end up writing a full review of the episode). I found the performances to be pretty weak and the story to be clumsy and contrived, and I say this as someone who absolutely loved Greek and watched Crawford in all six seasons of Gossip Girl.

The actor will play Zach, the drummer in the band fronted by new arrival Oliver (All American Rejects‘ Tyson Ritter) who bonds with Amber while recording at the Luncheonette.
It’s safe to say Amber’s main squeeze Ryan (the returning Matt Lauria) will have something to say about her new *cough* friend.

Each year there are just a handful of television shows that take us by complete surprise and knock our socks off; yet because they are not usually launched on big network, it is nearly impossible to see them coming. Instead, these are shows that were intriguing on concept and deemed worthy of a peek; and once seen, we know that we had fallen head-over-heels in love

You may know that I’m already something of a reluctant, if fairly enthusiastic, fan of ABC Family, and most of the shows they put out. If so, I don’t have to sell you on the two new series coming your way this summer (and only really want to sell you on one anyway).
Much as ABC Family may not quite be putting out the best shows on television, if you look at series that are predominantly geared toward a specific demographic… well, I think they might be actually. Younger audiences (and let’s face it, especially female audiences) are caught in a sort of black hole when it comes to television, and shows aimed at them today are either convinced that your brain doesn’t turn on until you’re 20 (actually, it switches off at about 11, and back on at some vague point), or have no real appeal...

Top 10 lists are tricky things. It can be absurdly hard to narrow down anything to a select group of ten. It’s like being asked to choose your favorite child and you just want to wail, “But I love all of them!” This is particularly true in television. Each year I commit to nearly 100 television shows that air throughout the twelve-month period. Thus, to pare down to the few that were truly outstanding, it can be exceptionally difficult. But there are always a deserving few who manage to do the impossible: sustaining a high caliber of performance and be equally captivating entertainment. As a caveat, there will always be better shows, but sometimes those shows just didn’t manage to be as consistently entertaining. Addictiveness plays a large part of what makes television shows successful. It is a quality that is rare and elusive and can be dependent upon the personal tastes of the viewer.
