WWE will wrap up a year that began with such potential and is ending with disappointment with its TLC pay-per-view on December 14. The sixth instalment of this PPV will include matches with each of the signature gimmicks the event traditionally boasts: a chairs match, a ladder match, a tables match and a TLC contest that incorporates all three weapons.
Those with a decent sense of history know that TLC matches go back several years further than the PPV does. The TLC match between Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt will actually be the 16th (or 17th, depending on your point of view) such match in WWE. The first several tables, ladders & chairs matches defined several wrestlers’ careers and raised the bar in terms of performance, risk-taking and overall workmanship.
The TLC match itself has become one of WWE’s signature gimmick matches, right up there with Royal Rumble, Survivor Series,...

Welcome to Raw is Predictable!
While being predictable is not necessarily a bad thing, when you can see something coming a mile away and there still are dozens of clues and hints, it kind of takes the fun out of the adventure. That’s what happened Monday night, as Raw plowed through another three-hour program that was about as mysterious as the end to a whodunit movie after you’ve seen the film five times.
At the same time, WWE is doing a decent job of setting the table for Survivor Series, with the five-on-five traditional elimination match almost complete and two other matches set, with a WWE Tag Team Championship match also likely. There have been PPVs where the main matches weren’t booked until the go-home Raw. The elimination match will probably eat up one-third of Survivor Series when entrances are factored in, so getting that booked is key.

The return of Daniel Bryan is something that every wrestling fan is anticipating. He’s one of the best wrestlers alive and his absence from WWE programming has been felt ever since he had neck surgery in May. When he had the surgery the feeling was that he’d be back in a month or two. The reason it’s been longer is because he hasn’t had the strength come back in his right arm. While doing interviews for Total Divas, his wife Brie Bella has said that Bryan won’t need a second surgery and that he’s hopeful of coming back in about three months.
A return in three months would mean he’s likely going to be ready in early December. Perhaps he could be ready by Survivor Series on November 23 because if he comes back at that show he would give a good boost to that event,...

Coming off an abysmal 2013 Survivor Series PPV, WWE did its best this week to regroup and get back on track as we now head towards the next PPV and the final show of the calendar year, Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. What we received was, at best, a mixed bag of setting plans in motion, coupled with more Creative decisions that continue to baffle and amaze. For whatever reason, the WWE product, creatively, is a mess right now. They have not followed through with success on many fronts since the summer: Ryback, Ziggler, Damien Sandow, Daniel Bryan, Curtis Axel, and so on.
As fans we should all be concerned, and as a media empire, so should WWE. The Road to Wrestlemania is fast approaching, and it should be the most interesting time of the year, but creatively WWE is not ready to even start that direction. And financially, it’s their...
