The first Gran Turismo game to feature cars from Ferrari.
There are 71 tracks and over 1000 cars an the game, with each care being made from half a million polygons, in contrast to the first game in the series, where the cars were made from 300 polygons.
Around 100 UK shops opened at midnight to sell copies of the game on the first day of release. The game went on to sell 1.8 million copies in the first 2 days.
Cost publisher Sony a total of $60 million over its five-year development.
The Red Bull X2010 was designed as a response by Adrian Newey to a question from Kazunori Yamauchi.
The question was "If you built the fastest racing car on land, one that throws aside all rules and regulations, what would that car look like, how would it perform, and how would it feel to drive?"
