Eve Hewson ("The Knick"), Gaite Jansen ("Supernova"), Lucy Fry ("Vampire Academy") and Gugu Mbatha-Raw ("Belle") are all reportedly in the running for the female lead opposite Taron Egerton in "Robin Hood: Origins" for Lionsgate.
Otto Bathurst ("Peaky Blinders") helms the project this gritty, revisionist take on the legend which is described as a "Batman Begins"-style take on the hero of Sherwood Forest.
In this one Robin returns from fighting in The Crusades and finds that Sherwood Forest is rife with corruption and evil. He forms a band of outlaws and they take matters into their own hands.
No actual offers have been made for the female role yet. Joby Harold, who also penned Guy Ritchie's gritty "King Arthur" project that has been filming this year, penned the script.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, Basil Iwanyk and Harold and Tory Tunnell are producing with filming to begin in February.

There is currently a battle brewing for the female lead in Robin Hood: Origins to star opposite Taron Egerton.
The shortlist of contenders for the role include Doctor Who's Gugu Mbatha-Raw and The Knick star Eve Hewson, according to Deadline.
Dutch actress Gaite Jansen (Supernova) and Vampire Academy's Lucy Fry are also being considered for the part - but no word yet on whether it happens to be Maid Marian.
The film will be a "gritty" retelling of the legend that sees Robin (Kingsman: The Secret Service's Egerton) arrive back from the Crusades and recruit his band of Merry Men after finding corruption across Sherwood Forest and Nottingham.
Peaky Blinders' Otto Bathurst is directing from a script by Joby Harold, the man who is also behind Guy Ritchie's Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.

Exclusive: Beki Probst, head of Berlin’s European Film Market (Efm), has hit back at claims that the 2014 edition was “sluggish” or “lukewarm” while the Berlinale Co-Production Market has handed out its awards.
Probst, who has run the Efm since 1988, was responding to reports of a quieter market.
“I think that there was a good movement of business this year,” she said in an exclusive interview with ScreenDaily.
“Daphné Kapfer of Europa International representing 35 sales agents said that it was a very good Berlin, and Glen Basner of FilmNation commented that it was ‘the best Berlin’.
“Even Harvey Weinstein came just for 24 hours to sign a $7m cheque, and Aloft was bought by Sony Pictures Classics.
“It’s the players, and not the market, that is important. The players come here if they have the right line-up. All we can do is provide the best infrastructure, but what happens after that is up to them.”

Berlinale adds 17 features to the Generation programme, aimed at children and youths, including the European premiere of a feature co-directed by Flight of the Conchords Jemaine Clement.
A total of 60 short and full-length films from 35 countries have been selected for the Generation Kplus and Generation 14plus competitions at the Berlin International Film Festival (Feb 6-16). They include five long and nine short animated films.

The selection includes What We Do in the Shadows, a mockumentary that follows the struggles of a group of New Zealand–based vampires to understand modern society and adapt to the ever-changing world around them.
