A royal prince and heir unwilling to engage in a dynastic marriage became an incognito apprentice carpenter, gifted. He falls in love with a classy, sassy girl he meets as champion of the local orphanage run by a nun. He ignores she also ran away to avoid being married off. However the prince is being searched by orders of the king, he is about the abdicate as he approaches the age limit, and wants his noble son to succeed, which is only possible if he marries a princess first, and by his sister, who sent her ambitious, sycophantic court squire to prevent him succeeding, as the throne then falls to her. When both are brought to the palace to wed, she questions princess's royal lineage.
