One viewer writes that Bill brings back fond memories of his childhood watching the late Tom Hatten, a Los Angeles-area TV host from decades past who is best remembered for hosting Popeye cartoons on "The Popeye Show" (aka The Adventures of Popeye (1956)) on KTLA. In a brief tribute, Bill explains that Hatten was a cartoon show host from 1952 to 1988 and notes that he passed away in 2019.
A viewer asks vintage toy collector Bill if he has any "Pink Lady and Jeff" (Pink Lady (1980)) action figures in his collection. Bill laughs off the suggestion and explains the short-lived 1980s TV variety show (starring Japanese singing duo Pink Lady and a comedian named Jeff). Bill then shows off his vintage Lenny and Squiggy action figures from the 1970s sitcom Laverne & Shirley (1976).
The Gilligan's Island (1964)-inspired fan art of Toony, shown at the end of the episode, was submitted by "Mary Ann Summers", a name which Bill and Toony both seem skeptical about, as that is the name of Dawn Wells's character on the classic show.
This Fan-Tastic Friday episode inducts Gregory Litchfield from Hanson, Massachusetts as the newest member of the Super-Tooner club. A comic book and cartoon enthusiast, Litchfield is an active participant in the show's live-Tweeting community on Twitter. In his recorded video submission, Litchfield says he enjoys watching the classic Warner Bros., MGM, and Paramount cartoons on the show, and also appreciates the revival of the hosting format he grew up watching. As an artist himself, Litchfield notes his particular fondness for the viewer art submissions at the end of each show, and his own hand-drawn card artwork is displayed on the wall behind him (featuring a variety of well-known Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters). He also name-drops fellow live-Tweeter Fritz Freakenstein (who appears briefly in an insert clip) in a bit about Litchfield's hands being tied up. Afterward, Toony remarks that Litchfield deserves to be a Super-Tooner based on the video's impressive production value alone.
While this Fan-Tastic Friday episode doesn't feature any of the show's colorful recurring guest characters beyond regular cast members Mr. Quizzer and Goldie Fisher, it does introduce a new character - Kangaroo ("Outback Marsupial"), played by one of the show's writers, Yazmin Ramos. This also marks Ramos's first on-screen appearance on the show.
