"Mörderischer Besuch" is a novel-based police drama/thriller from 5 years ago starring the alpha male among German actors, Heiner Lauterbach. And of course, he gets it going with a hot woman 20 years younger than him very early in the movie. This woman becomes a suspect in the murder of two people and Lauterbach's character seems to be the only one who believes in her innocence. Lots of stereotypes in this film. He also takes care of a suicidal prostitute with a young child. Looks like his character is a true altruist, but one that women love who also faces his own demons and has an interest in classical music.
The supporting cast includes Hannelore Hoger, Liane Forestieri and Benjamin Sadler, a decent lineup for a television movie. The director is Jorgo Papavassiliou, a man responsible for quite a few schmaltzy television romantic comedies. No surprise that there is lots of cliché in this film too. How can Lauterbach's character still be on the case after he is sleeping with one of the main suspects?? No realism here. Apart from that, there are some homosexuality references in this film, a stolen painting and some Jewry references as religion could be one of the motives of the murderer. All in all, a forgettable film with few redeeming qualities. Not recommended.
