The storyline continues to thrill and entertain.
Sleepin_Dragon31 March 2024
A major summit takes place, Jin is invited to attend, she is stunned to learn the identity of the founder member of The Organisation, and what its plans are.

Episode three gave us the reason for the game play, it also gave us those dazzling special effects, and some real excitement, this fourth, a bit more casual in terms of pacing, but still highly enjoyable, and very revealing.

The Little red riding theme is wonderfully intriguing, what part will it have to play, only time will tell.

Great action sequences, this whole series is expertly produced.

It is as though a complex jigsaw puzzle is being pieced together, and we're along for the ride, I'm so impressed with how it's being pieced together, the story is outstanding, and this one gives us possibly the biggest twist in the game so far.

It's great entertainment.

8/10.

Didn't "Our Lord" lie?
pika5216022 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I have enjoyed the series. I noticed that Lord told Mr. Evans that they would be protected at the summit. Wasn't that a lie? Given that the aliens seem to know what happens? Just my thoughts. So, Little Red Riding Hood sends the Lord into a tizzy and cuts off communication. Why would Evans read fairy tales anyway to educate aliens about humans to begin with? How about history, culture, art and thousands of other ideas?

Not my favorite episode, but Jin finding out that her friend is the leader of the cult was emotional. Poor Jack, again another lie in a sense, you can leave, but we will kill you!

Enjoying show but characters make odd choices..
stephendodd-6506911 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Again loving the show but they seem to make some bizarre decisions with it and people go totally out of character.

So wade and Da shi really establish they know what they are doing in this episode. They recruit Jin to go undercover and spy for them after the death of Jack all fair enough as she's both interested to find out what's going on and get revenge for Jack.

It's all going well, she infiltrated the group shocked to learn about Ye Wenjie being leader of the group, the authorities/army/MI5 it's never explained who it is pounce and come in to arrest everyone but here is where I think it went a little odd.

Why did they come in now? Surly they could have listened in a bit longer to find out what is going on seemed like they jumped the gun.

Why did they Blow Jin's cover like that so publicly? I'm no secret agent but surely you protect your agent? They didn't secure everyone before extracting her despite having the drop on the situation.

They way I would have done it is have them come in at the end of the meeting after finding out all they could, Ye wenjie tells everyone to "sit it's all part of the plan"

They secure the situation and start to lead everyone out in handcuffs including Jin who is taken same as everyone else (agents maintaining her cover), Tatiana could have escaped during all this with some of her security/alarmed cultists. She overhears a flustered Jin saying I'm not one of them asking for De Shi isn't a trained agent and realises she was a spy tries to free Ye wenjie causing a similar scene and getting shot trying to take out Jin escaping injured in the chaos of her agents attacking she crawls away.

It's not a major change but feels it wouldn't have better maintained the secret agent vibe if the experts hadn't blurted out "let's get you out of here" in front of the bad guys and would have secured everyone before they did so rather than letting a room full of armed "civilians" get the drop of them.

THIS is Sci-Fi!
billsoccer4 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I was going to title my review "Is this the best Sci-Fi episode ever?", but I knew I'd get downvotes just out of spite (and I could be wrong!). So, they capture the 'leader" of this cult, and what a shock to see who it is (Spoiler 1 below). This causes Thomas (Liam Cunningham - who we're not sure if he's a good or bad guy yet, though we find out at the end of the episode) to suspect Mike (Jonathan Pryce) has a record of conversations with the aliens. Mike has lived on a ship for many years, staying away from all other authorities attracting converts and raising them on the ship. Thomas convinces Auggie (Elza Gonzalez) to restart the nano-fiber project, and recruits Raj (Saamer Usmani). Raj develops a team and plan to use the fiber to recover the conversations (Spoiler 2). The plan works and the device reveals much, leading to learning the aliens plans, and a big surprise (Spoiler 3).

Spoiler: 1 - Ye Wenjie (Rosalind Chao)! Apparently to spite the Communists, she did indeed ignore the aliens plea to not respond, and resumed communications over many years.

2 - The fiber is strung between 2 poles across a section of the Panama Canal. Mikes ship passes between the poles and the fiber effortlessly cuts it horizontally (about) every three feet, severing everything/one. Might be a bit gruesome for some, but the cinematography is gripping 3 - The aliens fear that by the time they arrive in 400 years, the earth will be able to repel them, so they confound electronics (and is the reason for the experiments in recent episodes failure)

Wait, what??
Hughmanity26 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Up until this episode the 3 Body Problem had a consistent level of suspension of disbelief, which is crucial to the immersion of the viewer in any show. Then suddenly in this episode, a scene went way beyond that level by presenting a scenario that seemed ridiculous and well, nigh impossible even for this show.

Mike Evans is talking to his 'Lord' (presumably the alien) via the microphone, telling a fairy tale story when the alien voice starts questioning why things are happening, revealing that up until this point in 2024 this alien with supposedly vastly superior intelligence that has been talking to human beings for (checks notes) 58 years(!) has just now come to realize that humans sometimes lie. And that upon this realization, the alien no longer wants to be involved with this person and organization that has been helping them for decades. Say what??

Sorry but this particular plot point makes no sense. I hope this gets clarified or modified somehow from here because it was like this was the first time any human had ever spoken to the alien. Like they were having a get-to-know meet and greet after supposedly decades of communication! And it was a fairy tale story that did it?? Come on.

My Benioff and Weiss GOT season 8 radar is pinging loudly at this point. I hope I'm wrong because the rest of the show has been very good.

Wasted potentials

Episode four definitely could've been better that what we saw here.

Here, the episode takes us into the aftermath of a death of a main character and reveals some secrets about those "aliens".

As the story kept going, i kept thinking that its true that the episode offers intriguing revelations and progresses in the overall plot, it hugely misses opportunities to fully give us that aliens sci-fi we see in movies for example.

Ignoring this, this episode maintains momentum and sets the stage for deeper exploration of the series central mysteries regarding the aliens and the VR game and more on!

Wooden acting
The series and especially this episode suffers from some serious wooden acting. Flashbacks to the past with the actor of younger Dr. Evans clearly show what I mean: pretending to be composed and poised he was jittery sitting at the table revealing how much shabby of an actor he is. The producers could have chosen a better actor for this and many other roles. It's so sad to see many of current younger actors do not comprehend what comprises good acting and living the character on the set. There are so many of these kinds of mishaps in casting throughout the entire series that make it jarring to watch and enjoy as some of the younger actors truly believe this is the proper way of acting. It is not.

The 4 body problem
Rob-O-Cop13 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Oh dear. This show was doing quite well with it's world building until this episode where a bunch of things fell over and went off the rails.

The alien force can communicate across 4 light years of space instantaneously but takes 300 years to travel the distance. So they've figured out how to move information faster than the speed of light, yet not themselves.

The aliens are really smart yet they got confused about what a "story" was, and our cult of alien 'friends' waste their time reading nursery rhymes to them and upsetting them? A story is not a lie, it's a method of extrapolation. But yes humans can and do lie, but little red riding hood isn't an example of that.

The alien friends cult have access to alien tech, but they go around like secret squirrel murdering with a knife people who think they're a con? Why the whole cloak and dagger thing? Excuse the pun. But why waste effort and cause danger by murdering someone who poses no threat? Why trust another new person so much as to bring them to your cult meeting. Why did the 2 person cop force call in a swat team to rescue one woman and kill others, when she wasn't in immediate threat of death? What was the point of the raid. Why not wait till the conference was over, pull in the leader and find out what the story was? Arm assault seems illogical.

And the name of the show is the three body problem, and the alien world has 3 suns and their plant, that's 4 bodies, and yes humans at the present point of time with our present computational skills cannot extrapolate the movements of 3 bodies exerting gravitational force on each other for long periods, but that doesn't mean it's not something that can be done in the future, ever, by intelligence more advanced than what we have now.

And the glamorous smoking. Why? Is it because they couldn't crow bar it into game of thrones so that tobacco sponsorship money was off the table so they're making up for it now?

So the problems are a little more than a little science conundrum now. And they were doing so well.

Did she really crawled that far without being noticed?
matt-3487813 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
So that girl has been shot in a freaking mess between police and cultists. She starts crawling, sliding around people shooting, lots of police and she crawls that far? Without being noticed? Without being questioned? I have some questions now like : How is possible D. And D. The 2 guys who destroyed The game of Thrones are still on someone's payroll? How no one ever questioned this nonsense when the 2 writers presented the script. No one fuond is cringe and they decided to film it and streaming it? What the hell is happening with tv series nowadays?

This is just so bad. It hurts. Cringe cringe cringe.

What a disappointment!
Obj_rater30 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is the part where a series is totally destroyed from a single episode. When the most highly advanced civilization of aliens decides to stop talking to the earth ally just because of a fairy tail. The plot is deteriorating even more when the police invades the convention venue by demolishing a wall!!! Omg why? Also even if aliens can control and kill every single threat of scientists in the world, they somehow fail to prevent the police invading their convention. Very bad acting is also present in this episode. Although the scenario is very clever, it seems that the story will not lead to more interesting scenes.
