Pete has been 'grounded' following the events of the previous episode so when Artie suspects an artefact is involved in turning a wrestling team at a Californian colleges from unable to win a single match in years to being unstoppable he has Claudia accompany Myka. It is her first official assignment. One student has already died, in a fire, then a second spontaneously combusts as Claudia interviews him. It is suspected that artefact might be a medal the coach has the team touch during a pep talk... Myka and Claudia sneak into his office to retrieve it and discover H. G. Wells already there. She hands over the medal and claims she isn't one of the bad guys; she just wants to work at the Warehouse again... but can she be trusted? Meanwhile back at the warehouse Artie is suffering from appendicitis... an annual occurrence as it keeps growing back! At least it means he gets to see the lady doctor regularly... Pete suggests better ways of seeing her.
This episode was a lot of fun. It made a nice change to have Claudia take a lead role in an investigation outside the warehouse... her discomfort/enjoyment as they spoke to the wrestlers who were wearing nothing but towels was priceless. She also demonstrated that once she stopped trying to be like Myka she could be effective in the field. The return of H. G. Wells was a treat; especially as it wasn't obvious whether or not she could really be trusted. The main story had a few nice twists before the final reveal. The secondary story, back at the warehouse, was enjoyable providing quite a few laughs and the possibility of romance for both Artie and Pete. The cast was on good form; I particularly enjoyed Allison Scagliotti's performance as Claudia; it was great seeing her get some character development. Jaime Murray was also a lot of fun as Wells; hopefully her character will return again soon. Overall a really good episode which provided the usual mix of drama and comedy.
