What really baffles me about being a critic is indecision. I think when a film is really good, it deserves praise. When a film is really bad, it deserves to be pointed out. But when a film lands in the middle, in the “I’m just not sure how to handle it,” it really bothers me.
Clowntown is the collaboration of first-time feature length director Tom Nagel and Axe Giant: Wrath of Paul Bunyan writer Jeff Miller. This pairing of minds might result in a rather interesting experience, especially when “Bunyan” writer Miller is concerned. I saw “Bunyan” and happened to find it hilarious. So going into this film, I think I had different expectation that the result I got was.
I envisioned with a name like Clowntown a visceral sort of Krampus film that will end up making me laugh and creep me out at the same time.

Killer Clowns seem to be appreciating a bit of a resurgence of late. So what is another title to throw on the pile? Introducing Tom Nagel's horror flick Clowntown. Written by Jeff Miller the story of Clowntown is loosely based on those eerie images of clowns seen around Bakersfield, CA back in 2014. While wild rumors circulated that the clowns were committing crimes and such Nagel has run with it and written a script about that. ITN Distribution, Inc. has acquired North American rights to the horror thriller Clowntown. Dan Haggerty, who brought to life the titular frontiersman in the 1974 film and subsequent TV series "Grizzly Adams," died after battling cancer at the age of 74.
In "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams," Haggerty's woodsman flees into the wilderness to escape a wrongful murder charge. He befriends and cares for a bear cub, who remains Grizzly's best friend, even after maturing into full size.
Before starring in the show, Haggerty worked as an animal handler and stuntman in Hollywood. He guest starred in shows including "CHiPs," "Charlie's Angels," and "The Love Boat." His last movie credit was a cameo in the 2013 movie "Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan."
Haggerty suffered from cancer of the spine, which was discovered by doctors during surgery for back pain. He is survived by five children.

Two's company and three's a crowd--but four can soar! At least that's what the good folks at haRFMFul Productions, Sick Puppy Pictures, MOnsterworks66 and Lion Arch Productions believe as they prep a three-feature slate to shoot in Louisiana later this year or early in 2016!
Rycke Foreman (haRMFul), Phil Condit (Sick Puppy), Maria Olsen (MO66) and Lionel Archuleta (Lion Arch) are developing a slate of three horror-comedies for production in Louisiana and are presently attaching cast and finalizing budgets before approaching La. investors. The three films, Happy Ending, Hacked Off and Grizzled! (#Hehog) are all zany romps through HorCom Land featuring lovely ladies, buckets of blood, hunky heroes and terrifyingly funny Big Bads.
The films may all live in the same genre, but they each have their own special stamp of entertaining insanity:

As of late Trejo has been spotted in a myriad of genre films. From Dead in Tombstone to Voodoo Possession and everywhere in between Trejo has probably had a hand in it. One of his newest films Volcano Zombies is in the process of wrapping finalizing postproduction and were seeing a new promotional trailer as a result. And to be quite frank the flick as preposterous as it is looks like a fine example of a so bad its good movie. I havent been this excited about a terrible production since Sharknado and Axe Giant... the latter of which just so happens to have been made by the same people in charge of Volcano Zombies (no joke it looks like the cabin scene and a few different outdoor shots were filmed in the same exact location).

Going into a film called Axe Giant: The Wrath Of Paul Bunyan it really is hard to know what to expect or what sort of film it is. As I went in without knowing anything, I was surprised to find a fun and watchable film. I kind of know a little about Paul Bunyan, a lumberjack legend and I’ve seen pictures so I had that kind of image in mind. This film however takes that legend and adds a spin to it, a pretty good idea to make this its own thing.
Storywise, sure this isn’t wholly original; a group of young adults (first time offenders in boot camp) go off camping as part of a program. Things aren’t what they expected as something is lurking in the woods … I think you know the rest.
What makes this work is the legend itself,...

Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan, the new horror/creature feature from producer/director Gary Jones (Boogeyman 3) is premiering tonight on SyFy at 9 p.m. (Et/Pt).
The movie will be retitled simply Axe Giant for Syfy. The film is a contemporary take on the tall tale of lumberjack Paul Bunyan. Kids at a first-offenders’ boot camp discover that the legend of Paul Bunyan is real, but is much more horrifying than they could have imagined.
The survivors must team up with the local sheriff to stop the 15-foot giant’s new rampage of terror.

Remember that bizarro Paul Bunyan-based horror movie I told you about a few weeks back? If not, that’s okay. I don’t expect you to remember all of the cinematic garbage I try to shove into your brain at any given moment of the day. Well, apparently the good folks over at SyFy have snagged the rights to “Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan” and are preparing to unleash it upon the masses this Thursday (June 13). My faith in American entertainment is restored. The setup is pretty simple: Kids are in the woods with a giant. And the giant, you see, he’s got a relaly big axe. And the kids are going to die. That’s the movie in a nutshell, and I haven’t even seen the damned thing yet. Like many of you, my entire evening is currently planned around the television premiere of “Axe Giant.

One horror flick that has me curious is Gary Jones' Bunyan, a reimagining of the tall tale of titanic lumberjack Paul Bunyan that brings his legend to bloody life as a 15-foot giant maniac with a very large ax. Producer Jeff Miller was kind enough to send over some news stills from the movie and word of a new cast member who's no stranger to forests.
Dan Haggerty, best known as TV's "Grizzly Adams" but forever in the heart of schlock movie fans like myself for his portrayal of a chain-smoking department store Santa battling an evil Nazi elf in the bad movie classic Elves, has joined the cast of Bunyan.
Here's the latest press release regarding the ongoing filming of Bunyan:

Producer Jeff Miller sent over some info and production stills from his new horror flick Bunyan, which puts a spin on Paul Bunyan, the mythological mountain of a man lumberjack of folk tales, by transforming him into a monstrous maniac ready to put the axe to a camp full of troubled teens.
Gary Jones (Boogeyman 3) directs b-movie veteran Joe Estevez, Tom Downey (Transmorphers), and Tim Lovelace (Mosquito) in this horror flick for Kinetic Filmmworks from a script by Miller and Jones. A few extra days of filming are scheduled in the fall with the possibility of a recognizable genre name or two being added to the cast.
Robert Kurtzman's Creature Corps is handling the bulk of the effects work. Hopefully that means Mr. Bunyan won't just be some hulking Syfy movie digital effect that looks like S.S. Doomtrooper dressed in flannel.

I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone associated with the genre felt the inexplicable need to transform the iconic folk hero Paul Bunyan into a horror movie monster. Director Gary Jones — who is largely responsible for such legendary outings as “Spiders” and “Boogeyman 3″ — is in the middle of lensing his upcoming production “Bunyan”, a motion picture which finds a group of teenagers battling a 15-foot giant with a penchant for murder and mayhem. Robert Kurtzman’s Creature Corps is handling the effects. No word yet if Bunyan’s trusty blue ox will make an appearance, though I wouldn’t bank on it. “Bunyan” stars Joe Estevez, Tom Downey, Tim Lovelace, Jesse Kove, Amber Connor, Cliff Williams, Victoria Ramos, Kristina Kopf, and Jill Evyn. A handful of pics rest below. Thanks to Shock Till You Drop for providing the goodies.

Gary Jones is in principal photography on Bunyan , a bloody riff off the tall tale of, you guessed it, Paul Bunyan. The director previously helmed Boogeyman 3 , Spiders and Crocodile 2 . For his latest effort, he takes us to a first-time offenders boot camp where the kids there learn the Paul Bunyan legend is real, horrifying, and a 15-foot monstrous giant! We've got your first look via the photos below. The movie stars genre vet Joe Estevez, Tom Downey, and Tim Lovelace. Jesse Kove, Amber Connor, Cliff Williams, Victoria Ramos, Kristina Kopf, and Jill Evyn round out the cast. Jeff Miller scripted with Jones. The former is also co-producing. On effects duties, expect to see the work of Robert Kurtzman's Creature Corps. Shooting is taking place in the Los Angeles...
