Animal reporter Anna goes in search of the wolf in the Bavarian Forest. For some years now, the shy predators have been sighted there again. But instead of the wolf, Anna meets Woife, a real outdoors man. At his construction trailer, the animal rights activist is currently fostering the stone martens "Seppi" and "Beppi". Without further ado, the two make a pact: Anna helps the Woife to feed up his charges and in return the Woife shows her the forest and its animal inhabitants such as deer, beavers and forest birds. Thus begins for Anna an exciting adventure in the wild forest. In her search for the wolf, Anna gets active support from forester Marco. Together they set up camera traps. With a little luck, the animal detectives succeed in taking great pictures of the shy predators. And in fact, Anna and Marco quickly hit upon a hot lead.

Anna and animal protector Woife have got a new foster animal: the tawny owl is very weakened. With effort and hardship, Woife can give the poor guy some food. But his chances of survival are not very good. In the next days "Kauzi" needs above all rest. The stone martens "Seppi" and "Beppi" on the other hand are in a great mood. Their climbing skills are getting better day by day. Anna actively assists the Woife, cleans the cage and prepares food. At the construction trailer, Anna and her animal friend cheerfully whistle to attract the most colorful forest birds: Blue tits, nuthatches and bullfinches. Anna gets support from forester Marco in her search for wolves. He uses camera traps to monitor the population of predators in the Bavarian Forest. Two years ago sensational recordings of pups were made. It was the first evidence of wolf offspring in the Bavarian Forest in 150 years. Anna would like to have such recordings in the can again this year. A week later, they want to check the camera traps again.

In the third episode "Anna and the wild forest" our animal reporter meets Anne-Marie. She is an animal welfare friend from the Woife. Anne-Marie takes care of seven orphaned fawns that have to be raised with bottles. She also has a very special foster animal there: "Max", a little wild boar. Unfortunately, the youngster is quite sick. Soon Anna wants to look after him again. At the construction trailer, on the other hand, there is good news. "Seppi" and "Beppi" are as fit as a fiddle, and "Kauzi" the tawny owl is also over the hill. He eats and eats. The pellets, the indigestible remains, are collecting on the cage floor. In a few weeks "Kauzi" can be released into the wild. Anna and the Woife make exciting excursions into the forest. They meet deer, grass snakes and the beaver. And during the wolf hunt Anna can also report a success: A pair of wolves has appeared on a camera trap. The only thing missing so far is any trace of young animals.

There is trouble at Woife's construction trailer. The stone martens "Seppi" and "Beppi" have escaped from their cage. Whether they are ready for the "wilderness adventure" remains to be seen. Anna and Woife would like to see the martens at least one last time and lure them with food. But they might not emerge until dusk. On the farm of animal rights activist Anne-Marie, Anna gets to know the blind fawn "Lilo". The helpless animal needs especially much devotion and soon comes together with a young roebuck in a special enclosure. Anna is allowed to help with the relocation. Unfortunately, there is no news from the wolves. So Anna and the Woife go in search of red deer, the largest native deer species. They can actually spot a grazing doe in a clearing. But the big red deer don't come out until September, when the spectacular rutting season begins.

Anna and Woife can breathe a sigh of relief at the construction trailer: the escaped stone martens "Seppi" and "Beppi" have reappeared and have greedily helped themselves to the food laid out. They are doing well. The relocation of the fawns "Lilo" and "Anderl" does not go so smoothly. But both animal and human remain unharmed and Anna can bring the two deer to their new home. Now in autumn the rutting season of the red deer begins. An impressive natural spectacle. Woife leads Anna to a rutting arena. Here they can listen to the loud roaring and, with a little luck, observe the huge red deer. Finally, forester Marco calls with news. Immediately Anna darts to the wolves of the animal enclosure, where their search for the predators began. With great joy, Marco shows her video footage of a young wolf there. There are again offspring in the Bavarian Forest.
