lower level TV movie
SnoopyStyle29 July 2018
The real estate market is tanking and realtor Lauren Baker (Emily Rose) is struggling. It doesn't help that her writer boyfriend Francois doesn't work. Sean Crawford comes in looking for an agent to sell his family mansion which he co-owns with his sister Rebecca. With her partner Maddie, Lauren is able to sell the coveted Chicago address for cash. Then news of the murder of the real Crawford siblings on the Appalachian Trail arrive. It's a scam and the real Garrett Crawford claims the mansion. The situation for Lauren is dire and even Francois leaves her.

This could be a murder mystery but it spends half of the movie exploring the excitement of a real estate deal. It needs to get to the reveal of the scam quicker. It needs to get to the heart of a thriller sooner. Once the investigation starts, Lauren should pair together with Garrett. This plays like a lower level TV thriller. There's no reason why that thug would leave Lauren alive. It's not the worst movie out there but I can't give this a passing grade.

Potentially good story wrecked by bad musical score.
cleio1419 August 2020
I checked this out because Rose & Bryant were so good together in Haven. The story had the potential to be a really good film but the music is so terribly mismatched to the plot. If you're feeling like you've run out of Prime, watch this but honestly, put on an episode of Haven instead. More mystery, more fun.

Not So Bad
carolynocean16 February 2021
I have to say that I was drawn into this story , It had a different feel to it , not like the usual predictable daytime movies. I agree with other reviews regarding that awful music throughout, I mean it just did'nt fit with this type of movie, completely mismatched!

The plotline here was good, intriguing , with some good acting performances from the cast. It kept me guessing and interested throughout, I think a 5 rating is fair, a thumbs down for the music though !

What were they thinking with the music
jodib7425 June 2018
This is supposed to be a thriller and the music sounds like something off of a 1980's comedy. This could have been a really good little movie as the story line was ok, but the music totally took away from even taking it seriously.

Reminded me of a typical Lifetime movie with a very bad soundtrack.

Just horrible-spoilers
LtlHippo30 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
There were so many dumb characters and moves in this movie. The woman sees Rebecca in the Chinese diner and instead of calling the cops, she chases her down in her car. Then almost dies in an accident. This happened a few times when the cops should have been called. Then the guy found the pool hose in the garage where the grounds keeper died. I can't believe the cops didn't wonder where it came from. They considered it a suicide with hardly an investigation. These women seemed intelligent but made moves that were so darn stupid. Don't they use certified funds these days when closing on real estate deals? At times, I thought I was watching a parody of all the other "dumb women" movies.

Pretty good tense thriller with pops in it
steeleronaldr13 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Buying a house/mansion requires a lawyer to check the background make sure it's a good deal. From my or my parents experience the lawyer proved a good move. There's no such thing a paying cash without a lawyer to assure all is ok. A multimillion mansion for $650K is a steal and should have raised red flags. As for the acting it was pretty good to say the least. The plot was great and the chemistry between the actors was pretty good. I agree though with another review is that the two main male characters were pretty close to looking like brothers.

This was pretty much predictable at times and despite the flaw's this movie had was still enjoyable. It moved at a good pace and kept the viewer happy. I think adding a soundtrack to fit the scenes would have made this movie better. It's predictable at times but many movies are and the plot twists helps. If it were on DVD I'd actually buy it for my ever growing collection.

Not terrible. 6.25 stars
paintedlaughter-5629018 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The acting in this movie was good, the plot was decent and somewhat believable, and the scenery was beautiful (and this is Chicago we are talking about so that is not an easy feat). But at least 5 different times, I commented out loud in frustration, "Why are the women in this movie so dumb?" Don't get me wrong...the female characters as a whole didn't strike me as being low IQ, but they consistently stupid mistake after stupid mistake as if they have never watched a suspense or horror film before. If you are following someone in a car, everyone knows you don't get too lose and you should write down the make/model and a plate number. If you see a murder or fraud suspect, you should call the police, not your BFF. Everyone knows most French guys cheat, and anyone who is living rent free on your couch instead of contributing is a user. I mean don't they? Isn't this common sense? So my biggest beef was with the screenwriters.

Could've been very good. Casting was terrible
megadinero20 June 2022
This could've been a really good movie. But the people who cast this movie used FOUR almost identical actors in different roles. It was so confusing. All FOUR had black hair, the identical build and the same height. Why couldn't someone on the production team change the hair color of a couple of these guys to blonde or redhead or change hairstyles so the viewers could tell the difference between the men? Even their hair styles were alike or similar!

I guess the casting 'experts' couldn't find FOUR identical quadruplets to play the FOUR roles.

The same goes for the female actors. Two were brunette and we couldn't figure out who was the good one and who was the bad one.

The movie is very sloppy. I don't know if they had to edit out a lot of scenes that would have made this movie make more sense or not. I know a lot of things can happen in post production. But if that's where the blunders occurred then that's the fault of the producers/directors.

Perfect Dysfunction
lavatch17 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"Perfect Plan" unfolds the theme of trust issues and "children of dysfunction." These issues figure in the dilemma of two winsome realtors in Chicago, Lauren and Maddie. They place their trust in a phony homeowner in the exclusive Burr Ridge Park district, who exploits them in a cash transaction for the sale of the home.

The slick con artist named Kennan Blake has impersonated the owner of the multi-million-dollar home after murdering the brother and sister, Sean and Rebecca Crawford, along the Appalachian Trail in Maryland. He then hires an unemployed actress, Brenna Lakeview, to impersonate the sister. He retains Lauren and Maddie as realtors, whose motto is "experience, diligence, and integrity."

The heart and soul of the film was in the comaraderie of the two realtors. Maddie had the lively humor that raised morale after the partners lost their enormous commission. For her part, Lauren had the worst luck imaginable in losing the commission, her job, and her boyfriend, yet was tenacious in searching for the culprits.

One of the most interesting characters is the carpenter Garrett Crawford, who lost out on his inheritance, but redeemed himself in supporting Lauren in discovering the con artist. He was also a perfect match for Lauren. This romantic side of the film effectively complemented the main narrative of the scam and demonstrated that hope springs eternal for children of dysfunctional families.

Terrible
shirinu22 February 2021
Very low quality movie, low quality storyline, and bad acting! The characters in this movie aren't well created. I sometimes play a movie in the background while getting other things done and this movie isn't even good enough for that

The Actual Worst
jackieraedowell7 February 2021
This movie is horrible. Dry, humorless, and cheesier than an extra cheese pizza with cheesy cheese sticks. Just stupid. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME! We actually laughed at how bad this movie is. The entire time. Just... Just don't.

ER is for Emily Rose who is the star
aocsincher29 November 2020
Cute, sexy, quirky and feminine all in one...what's not to love about a naive character with all those attributes? Mix in an interesting plot and a few thrills and you have yourself a winner. I recommend this, especially fun to watch on a cold rainy or snowy evening.

Perfect Plan by Tristan Dubois
sjanders-8643022 October 2020
Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, and Jonathan Watton are great in this very satisfying mystery thriller. The script flows well and the production is tops. Emily Rose is low key with plenty of heft even though she is beautiful. The main men are tall and thin so it is very plausible what happened. Recommend!
