War is hell Warning: Spoilers
In my humble opinion, "La tranchée" was able to achieve everything that "The Thin Red Line" couldn't: Being able to express the horrors of war in a way which is poetical and haunting at the same time, having also some of the most memorable imagery that I've seen in any other film (animated or not) before.

It had an incredibly beautiful animation style (Which reminded me a little the excellent shorts directed by Gerrit van Dijk, but I like this better) but it is the impressive manner in which the scenes are delivered that made me love this short. It is something that can't be described by simple words, but must be seen in order to understood how powerful and intense this short could be.

"La tranchée" is a criminally underrated short. I can't believe that it only has a 6.2 score on IMDb when it certainly deserves much more than that. Personally, I consider this to be one of the best films ever made about war.

10/10 (I would rate it with eleven stars if I could)
