Sadness earned

A terribly sad show because it manages to make one care deeply about the characters. The (male) main characters were well developed and their relationships with others are a joy to watch.

Impossible to not get annoyed.

I love this kind of anime but i cant say anthing about this one because i stopped watching it before finishing the first season. I just couldn't stand watching the heroine develope NONE at all. Like zero. All the time she is the passive one who is saying nothing and doing nothing. I watched this a while ago (maybe a few months) but i clearly remember that i dont remember (lmao) her ever even forming a complicated sentence. About anything. Let alone something that has a complicated and deep meaning. She is so shallow it was annoying to the point i stopped watching. And oh my god she is so incompetent for ANYTHING. I understand that she cant wield the sword that good but she is not even drawing it when she is in danger and about to die. And everyone is jumping in and risking their lives to save her. And for what? For her to make tea for them. I really get it if she cant fight but then at least she should be intellectually interesting but she cant even give people around her any advice or opinion on anything. Thats how good-for-nothing she is. There are no deep thoughts or motivation involved. She is bland and i feel like she lacks character. Even though there are many beautiful boys around her (who are all way more smart and capable), i just couldn't ignore her and keep watching because at some point i started to get angry at how miserable her character is. Maybe she starts developing in later seasons/episodes but after watching her for a season im just not interested and beyond annoyed.

An entertaining piece of "history".

Personally, I have been a big fan of Japanese history and culture since I was a kid. And this has tons of history from the end of the shogunate era, focusing on the Shinsengumi.

This is a really fun and entertaining show that will not disappoint fans of samurai anime. It of course is an anime, so even though it has a lot of history, not everything follows that same path. I honestly couldn't stop watching this once I started it, and can't wait for the newest episodes from season 2 to be subbed.

In short, I hope you take my advice and check this out, it won't disappoint!

Loved it, but SO SAD

This anime is an excellent samurai, action anime packed with history. Although I found it a little slow in the first few episodes, I was hooked after a couple. If you want an anime that introduces a diverse cast of male characters who you will inevitably fall in love with, this is the show for you. Unfortunately, the sole main female character was a little flat, and I wished she was a little more capable and independent. Although she was revealed to be a devil/ demon halfway through the first season, she didn't gain any powers other than healing, nor was she able to protect herself. However, in general, I quite liked this anime. if you want an endearing cast that, not one, not two, but all of them are brutally killed within the second season; this is the one. However, in all seriousness, this is a great anime to cry your eyes out over, as well as love the dramatic action.

It's a Masterpiece! Absolutely LOVE Hakuouki:)

I have fallen in love with this amazing anime! The storyline captures your emotions and you fall in love with the Characters:) Hakuouki is so beautifully made! I'm always rewatching it:) It's an absolute favourite! <3 I love it!!

Great to learn japanese history even if just a bit

Very good reverse harem anime example. I give to ten points this series because its accually a series. Ovas movies more ovas more specials. Its very hard to consume. Also Contains so much efford and very good story and also I found my the dream anime boy in this show -So far- There is the girl -chizuru- and many cute boys around her:) fun to watched very much. But I should point that the attention, love etc to her, Reflected realistically. There is no so much open feelings. It is a history show afterall but also contains fantastic elemants. Anyways I miss S. H already. He is so something.
