Ajay Devgn’s Fee For His South Debut Is The Highest Amongst The Bollywood Actors ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
It has been raining South Indian films in Bollywood for the last few years. After Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films ruled the Hindi film industry with their Hindi versions, it is time for Bollywood stars to sign South Indian Films, and their paychecks might surprise anyone.
However, it is a balance of sorts; even the South Indian stars are being hatched by Bollywood producers for their films. Jr Ntr is already the parallel lead in War 2 with Hrithik Roshan. Rashmika Mandanna was the female lead in Animal, while Jawan starred Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara.
So, while the producers in North and South are looking out for the North-South balance, being the new hit in both industries, they are making the films from both North and South Indian industries a Pan-India attempt.

Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan & Aamir Khan’s Debut As Hosts Was A Very Costly Affair. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan, the trio, have always been clubbed together. Be it for rivalries or some other discussion; you together call them the Khans of Bollywood. Much later, even Saif Ali Khan joined the group as the fourth Khan, but much more hesitatingly. The Khan means the trio.
Interestingly, while all three of them turned superstars with their debut films, they all belong to the same number as far as their ages are concerned. While they have seen highs and lows and fought with each other in their young days, the good part is they have stuck around each other and today share a very mature and healthy relationship.

Ukrainian filmmaker Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi wrote and will direct the feature adaptation of John Valliant’s book The Tiger, in which Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award-winner Alexander Skarsgard will star alongside Oppenheimer actor Dane DeHaan.
Set in snowy far east Russia in the late 90s, the feature follows a group of men — referred to as the Tiger Team — who work to protect endangered tigers from poachers and logging operations. The story follows Vanzin (Skarsgard), the Team’s leader whose sense of duty is tested when he’s charged with hunting down and exterminating a tiger that killed a poacher in self-defense. DeHaan would portray Kanchuga, a young environmental scientist and newest member of the Team.
Darren Aronofsky and Protozoa are producing, along with Plan B and Wild Bunch International. The Veterans will launch sales on the project at the Cannes Film Festival. CAA Media Finance is co-representing domestic rights.

Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi has come on to direct “Tiger” for Focus, sources tell Variety.
Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa and Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner’s Plan B are producing.
The pic, based on the 2010 non-fiction book by John Vaillant, takes place on the Siberian plain, where human development is encroaching on the tigers’ habitat — and one tiger turns on the intruders. With townspeople being tracked and hunted with an almost supernatural power, a conservationist game warden must face down the tiger. It is a fight that only one of them can win.
Focus acquired the book in 2010 and at one point the project was eyed as a potential acting vehicle for Pitt and directing job for Aronofsky. In the end the two have decided to stay on as producers and allow Slaboshpystskyi step in to direct.

London - On a chilly October day, four Sherman tanks rumble through the mud of the English countryside. They are battle worn and weary, their crews resolute, but they carry scars of a long campaign. For a brief moment the visage makes you believe you've stepped back in time: to April 1945 and the last days of World War II. You haven't, of course; it's just an impressive set for the new period thriller "Fury." Written and directed by David Ayer ("End of Watch"), "Fury" follows members of one heroic tank crew as they embark on a dangerous mission into the heart of Nazi Germany. The tank is lead by Wardaddy (Brad Pitt), who has his loyal soldiers Boyd (Shia Labeouf), Trini (Michael Peña) and Grady (Jon Bernthal) at his back. He also has a young newbie, Norman (Logan Lerman), who will no doubt learn some major life lessons under Wardaddy's watch.

1.) Brad touched on this next bit of news in a Star Wars: Episode VII-related article on Saturday, but I thought I'd mention it here in case you missed it: George Clooney has entered talks to star in Disney's sci-fi tentpole 1952 for director Brad Bird (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol). Not a lot is known about the plot right now, but it is said to be a Close Encounters of the Third Kind-esque story about a man making contact with aliens on Earth. The script was penned by Damon Lindelof (Prometheus) and Jeff Jensen. Variety 2.) Bullhead helmer Michael Roskam is looking to team with Tom Hardy on Animal Rescue. Don't worry, there's no actual stealing involved here, it's all in order. If you remember, we covered a few news stories on a project called The Tiger that Darren Aronofsky was developing to direct. The story is indeed about a man-eating tiger attacking the inhabitants of a remote Siberian village. Well, since Aronofsky has gone on to build Noah's Ark instead, the project has found a new director - Michael R. Roskam. Roskam is the Belgian filmmaker who made the Oscar nominated film Bullhead last year, which rocked me to my core and launched the career of actor Matthias Schoenaerts. He's a hell of a good filmmaker to watch. The report confirms that Brad Pitt, who was attached to star, is still involved. Pitt is still producing with Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner at Plan B, and Aronofsky is producing with Protozoa's Mark Heyman & Ari Handel. Must be an outstanding...

1.) Ron Howard has been taking a break from Rush to work on a documentary with Jay-z. The film will follow the rapper/producer as he curates the inaugural "Made in America" music festival. The two-day event takes place September 1-2 in Philidelphia and features 20 acts, including Pearl Jam, Run-dmc and Jay-z himself. Producer Brian Grazer says the film is "going to be born through Jay-z's perspective." This could be a really interesting spin on the traditional concert documentary if done right and given enough depth. As someone who attends festivals like Lollapalooza every year, I've always had a lot of curiosities about the ins and outs of these events. [New York Post] 2.) Originally a Darren Aronofsky vehicle before he moved his focus to Noah, The Tiger will now mark the Hollywood feature debut of Bullhead director Michael R. Roskam. The subtitle of John Vaillant‘s book “The Tiger” proclaims it as “a true story of vengeance and survival.” In the current state of filmmaking, there are a handful of directors that would be perfect for the bill, and Bullhead director Michael Roskam is most definitely on the short list. His Best Foreign Film nominated flick about the illegal bovine growth market in Belgian was an aggressive and stunning portrayal of personal retribution and loneliness. According to Deadline Hollywood, Roskam is taking over the job vacated by Darren Aronofsky, and that’s undoubtedly good news. Not that it wouldn’t have been interesting to see Aronofsky’s take, but this way we get him shooting Noah and Roskam has another potential-filled project lined up to shine for. Based on the novel by John Vaillant, the fact-based story is set around a remote village in Siberia where a man-eating tiger is deliberately attacking the inhabitants.

The novel recounts the struggles of a village in the Russian province of Primorye, who came face to face with a human-killing Amur tiger in the late 1990′s. Welcome to Hollywood Michael Roskam. The director made waves with his Oscar-nominated "Bullhead" last year, and is now seeing the buzz turn into some palpable projects. Last week HBO ordered up a pilot of "Buda Bridge," a futuristic crime series he'll direct, with Michael Mann producing, and now he's stepping into his first bonafide Hollywood film, with some more big names backing him up. Roskam will direct "The Tiger," a project previously linked to director Darren Aronofsky that had Angelina Jolie rumored to star. And while that latter incarnation didn't happen, Aronofsky is still on board to produce, while Jolie's partner Brad Pitt is lending his skills in that department as well. Not too shabby. Based on the book by John Valliant, the story takes place in 1997 and follows an animal activist who must protect the small Siberian town he is in when a tiger begins attacking its inhabitants. And speaking of.

After dropping The Wolverine and coming off his mega-hit Black Swan, we’ve been eagerly awaiting for what the Oscar-nominated Darren Aronofsky will do next. Vulture brings news that Darren Aronofsky, after backing out of The Wolverine, is now eyeing a new project called Human Nature. The fifteen-year-old original spec script from Jeff Welch tells of a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species. George Clooney has attached himself for the lead role. Warner Bros.-based Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend) is currently budgeting the project, but given Clooney's attachment and the Warner's possible involvement, it sounds like the film could be a larger production than we're accustomed to seeing from Aronofsky. I suppose that was bound to happen after the breakthrough success of Black Swan. Human Nature could be his next project if things progress as planned, though I have no idea what that means for his other proposed projects (Machine Men, Jackie and The Tiger). Stay tuned.

Even after dropping out of high first foray into mainstream blockbusters with The Wolverine, Darren Aronofsky is piling up potential projects left and right. The latest to add to the stack is a sci-fi film titled Human Nature, Vulture reports. A big star has also attached his name, in the form of George Clooney.
Coming from a 15-year-old spec script by Jeff Welch, the film stars “a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species.” I Am Legend producer Akiva Goldsman who is also prepping The Dark Tower and Logan’s Run is currently planning the budget and if all goes well, this “will likely” be the next project for the Black Swan director.
Aronofsky dabbled in sci-fi with his modern masterpiece The Fountain, but I can’t wait to see how he creates his own futuristic world.

Ever since Darren Aronofsky opted out of directing The Wolverine, there have been questions about what film he would make instead. The filmmaker has talked about a movie based on Noah's Ark, a movie called Machine Man, and has long been attached to The Tiger along with Brad Pitt, but nothing has been made official. Now, according to Vulture, yet another project has captured Aronofsky's interest. According to the site, the Black Swan helmer has taken an interest in Human Nature, a fifteen year old spec script about a cryogenically frozen man. What's more, George Clooney is interested in starring. In the story, a frozen man wakes up in a world where humans are no longer the dominant species on Earth and have, instead, become pets of another species. Unnamed sources say that producer Akiva Goldsman "is currently budgeting the movie." The article doesn't make mention of the project's tone,...

After garnering a coveted Best Director nomination for his work on Black Swan, Darren Aronofsky was decidedly committed to direct 20th Century Fox’s The Wolverine. It comes with a surprise that he has dropped out of the directing chair for the blockbuster. [THR]
The reason lies simply that he would be out of the country and away from his family for too long. The stand-alone film scripted by Christopher McQuarrie had plans to shoot in Japan, which would account for a nearly year-long overseas shoot. Fox stated that Hugh Jackman is still attached and they are “fully committed to making Wolverine and will move aggressively to find a new director.” We don’t know who that new director will be, but before Aronofsky was attached, Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) and Tony Scott (Man on Fire, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3) were both considered. As the film award circus continues, Darren Aronofsky is beginning to develop The Wolverine, a Japan-set story based on the Marvel Comics X-Men character. But what we didn't know is, this isn't the only comic book movie Aronofsky is currently developing. In a recent interview, Darren revealed that he is "doing a comic book of a script that’s really hard to make and we’re going to do a comic version first and see what happens." It seems like Darren is trying to use the world of graphic novels as a backdoor into getting the movie made. And this wouldn't be the first time that Aronofsky has turned to the world of comics. His initial version of The Fountain was released in graphic novel form by Vertigo Comics in 2005 after Brad Pitt left the project high and dry. Which project could this possibly be for? We try to figure it out,...

[1] Almost three years ago [2], MGM announced they were going to remake RoboCop. They even made a poster [3] touting the then 2010 release and, eventually, Darren Aronofsky came on board as a director [4]. However, MGM soon encountered some famous financial troubles [5] and Aronofsky moved on to make Black Swan, which opens Friday. RoboCop seemed all but dead, especially since Aronofsky's Black Swan follow-up will be another big budget superhero movie [6], The Wolverine, and then possibly another machine/man movie [7] called Machine Man. But in a recent interview, Aronofsky left a glimmer of hope open for anyone who would still like to see his take on the revered 1987 Paul Verhoeven film. Talking to The Playlist [8], Aronofsky had this to say about RoboCop. Well, ‘RoboCop’ may still happen one day, who knows? It’s MGM and hopefully they’ll clear their stuff up and I’m still interested. David Self wrote a great script,...

Books: They’re just like movies, only without CGI.
So it’s no wonder that over the past century, Hollywood has consistently turned to books to provide the basis for some of its best works. “To Kill a Mockingbird,” for instance, was based on a book, while “Gigli” wasn’t. See how that works?
With that in mind, then, we decided to put together a sneak peak of all the coolest books currently being turned into major motion pictures (like “The Help,” left). Because these days, the best library you can go to is your local Cineplex.

Deadline exclusively announced yesterday that Brad Pitt is in "negotiations" to star in the comedic crime saga Cogan's Trade, reteaming him with Andrew Dominik, who directed The Assassination of Jesse James. "Pitt will play Jackie Cogan, a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that takes place during a high stakes poker game held under the protection of the mob." Deadline also hears that Pitt is interested in next making a movie out of a Mark Greaney novel, The Gray Man, a drama about a CIA operative-turned-hired-killer, who is targeted for death by a team assigned to rescue him.
By this morning, there were at least 94 links sourcing the Deadline post. Per yesterday's post on the bullshittery of Nikki Finke, once again, what is the real value of this trade story? Let's look at 16 other projects Brad Pitt has in the works. Will Cogan's Trade be next? Will The Gray Man be next?...

Well this is an interesting bit of news, Variety reports Darren Aronofsky is preparing to direct Machine Men for Mandalay Pictures, a thriller based on Max Barry's serialized, page-per-day online story and upcoming novel to be published by Vintage Books in Spring 2011.
What is described as a "pop thriller" by the trade, Machine Men centers on a gadget geek and engineer working at a forward-thinking tech firm who decides to systematically replace his weaker fleshy parts with high-end titanium performance upgrades of his own design. But he isn't the only one with plans for his superior parts. Aronofsky's Black Swan co-writer, Mark Heyman, is penning the adaptation.
What makes the story even more interesting is the fact it makes absolutely no mention of X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 which is speculated to be Aronofsky's next film once he's done promoting the upcoming December 3 release of Black Swan. Of course, with...

Aronofsky, Rachel Weisz and Jackman on the set of The FountainWhile there were continuing reports that Darren Aronofsky was close to a deal to direct X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2, none of them said he outright had the gig so I didn't want to jump the gun only to have to retract the news. As it turns out, speaking with Vulture, Wolverine star Hugh Jackman confirms he's reuniting with his The Fountain helmer and is already bulking up for the role. "I'm starting; I'm having my six meals a day," he told Vulture.

Aronofsky is doing Superman! No, he’s not. He’s up for Gangster Squad! Actually, no. He’ll do Preacher and Wolverine 2! Maybe. Jeepers, this is getting confusing. Whether Aronofsky signs on the dotted line for Wolverine 2 is, as we reported here, still to be decided. In the meantime, The Playlist are reporting that he is still looking at an adaptation of John Vaillant’s non-fiction book, The Tiger.
The Tiger is about an animal rights activist who must defend a Siberian town when its inhabitants are attacked by a tiger. Brad Pitt is in line to star, with Guillermo Arriaga (Babel, Amores Perros) working on the script. Arriaga says he is travelling to New York to clarify some details and then to Siberia to check on locations. It’s nice when there is an ongoing story to talk about, but over the past weeks, Darren Aronofsky has been a major ongoing story throughout tinsel town, having his name attached to the likes of Superman, Preacher, The Tiger, and more recently, both Tales from the Gangster Squad and Wolverine 2.
It seems that the director is bowing out of the Gangster Tales project and the reason is that he might be closer to directing Wolverine 2 for 20th Century Fox. Deadline is reporting that the studio is offering him a $5 million dollar paycheck against 5% of the film’s gross to helm the movie. 20th Century Fox hasn’t closed a deal with Darren Aronofsky, but an official announcement is expected at any moment.
The project, which would reunite the director with his The Fountain co-star, Hugh Jackman, is gearing up for production soon.

Ever since he lost out on Superman to Zack Snyder, rumors have been swirling around suggesting Darren Aronofsky had multiple offers to direct Wolverine 2, Gangster Squad and couple days ago an unconfirmed report that he decided on The Tiger with Pitt and Jolie. I didn't believe it and rightfully so.
Today, Deadline reports that Aronofsky is close to a deal on Wolverine 2 and I believe with 99% certainty he will direct the film. Why? Well after making Black Swan for nothing upfront and the home video success of The Wrestler, I'm sure Aronofsky is looking for a big time payday to cash in and cash in he will.

After his latest film, Black Swan, garnered acclaim from the various critics who saw it at festivals such as Venice and Toronto, Darren Aronofsky has been offered many projects. The movie he seemed to be the most likely to direct next was Wolverine 2, starring his lead in The Fountain, Hugh Jackman. But now it seems as though he’ll be taking on something else, an adaptation of the non-fiction book The Tiger, written by John Vaillant. What’s even more interesting is that it may star real life couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the first film they will have starred in since Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005.
As we first reported back in May, the plot is described as being about a game warden that has to protect a Siberian town being terrorized by a tiger that has escaped. Guillermo Arriaga, who is adapting the book for a screenplay, said...

That’s the word from The Playlist, who got the word from “The Tiger” writer Guillermo Arriaga, who blabbed the news during an interview. Besides indicating that Jolie will be co-starring in the true story alongside her house buddy Brad Pitt, the writer also says that location scoutings by Aronofsky and Pitt are set for later this year, which would seem to indicate that Aronofsky may make “The Tiger” his next directing gig post-”Black Swan”. Or not. At this point, does anyone know what the hell Aronofsky is going to do, or even wants to do? The guy’s name has been slapped around every project in Hollywood at the moment, including a couple of big-time superhero projects. In any case, “The Tiger” is a true story set in 1997, and follows an animal activist (Pitt) who must protect the small Siberian town he is in when a tiger begins attacking its inhabitants.
