The Bennetts are largely absent this week, save for a Mags appearance early on (the liking she's taken to Loretta is sick; the boys just finished tossing her father's body down a mine shaft!). Boyd's also little-seen, relegated to a low-level mining job and renting a room in Ava's house.
'The Life Inside' sees Deputy Marshals Gutterson and Givens transporting a pregnant inmate to her doctor appointment - the transfer of which naturally goes south, leaving our lawmen in pursuit. For a crime-of-the-week, it's great for eliciting sympathy for the woman's plight, as well as the rough nature of Raylan's chosen profession. The first season gets a bad rap for having a few by-the-book procedural episodes, and even though this is (mostly) another one, it still maintains the show's newfound swagger and it's still forwarding the major plot threads.
