The Golden Cobb Awards are another fan-nominated, online-voting, totally meaningless conglomeration of random people's input.
Much like The Rondos (which arguably are just as random and lacking in quality control), The Golden Cobb Awards were created by the people at The B-Movie Celebration to give horror and sci-fi fans a way to honor their favorite low-budget genre people and movies. Putting aside the fact that these awards are arbitrary and virtually meaningless, I take issue with the way nominations for awards like these are conducted. People are allowed to email the creators of the awards and nominate their favorite actors, movies, and filmmakers, and most people are not only idiots, they're nominating their friends or people with whom they'd like to have sex. I mean, that's what we'd all do. That's how nominations from the public work. I also take issue with the way this year's awards, in particular, are laid out.

Brian S- First off, Jim, how'd you get into acting?
Jim O'Rear- It was by accident, actually. Many, many years ago (when I was about 11 years old) I was performing across the country as “The Youngest Professional Magician,” appearing with people like Harry Blackstone Jr. and The Great Tomsoni. After a performance, one night, a television producer approached me and asked if I’d like to act in a television commercial. I told him that I wasn’t interested and that I didn’t know anything about acting. He tried to tell me that what...
