- We pick up right where we left off, with Erica interrogating Jeffrey Barnes in a basement. He says the Vs told him they'd kill his wife and daughter if he didn't kill who they wanted. She asks who else was on their hit list. She wants to know who knows about Fifth Column. They don't believe him when he says he doesn't know.
Val and Ryan race through the streets outside the healing center. She wants to know why he attacked the doctor. Standing on the street he confesses that he's a visitor. She doesn't believe him at first, but he tells her the visitors want their baby.
On board the New York mothership, Anna welcomes the humans for the live aboard program. She's interrupted by Marcus telling her about Val's half-human, half-V baby.
Anna tells Marcus finding Val and Ryan is his top priority.
At their house, Val doesn't want to go along with Ryan, but he tells her the Vs have infiltrated everywhere and they can't trust anyone. He says they'll kill them if they find them. Just then two Vs break into their house. Ryan fends them off, killing them. She sees one of them cut through to their V-skin and suddenly realizes that's what her baby might look like.
Anna convenes with the top Vs from all 29 ships, pissed that it turns out Vs and humans can mate. She says it puts the species at risk and the Fifth Column could breed a species of hybrids to fight them. She wants them to speed up the live aboard program and commence extraction of their human residents immediately.
She wants the mother and father dissected and the baby destroyed.
Ryan takes Val to see Dr. Leah Pearlman, the V doctor. Val guesses that she's a visitor and Leah admits it. Val's mad at Ryan for lying to her. Val says the Vs gave her a vitamin shot at the healing center. Turns out it was R6 - a way for the Vs to track her. Leah has a shot that can mask the tracking, but it takes 24 hours to take effect. Val takes the shot.
Leah tells Ryan there's nothing more important than the baby.
Ryan calls Erica to update her. He says he's going to stay with the Thompsons, some old friends in the country, and won't be back. Leah goes with them. He urges her to tell Ty the truth about the visitors.
Chad gives his report on his brain aneurysm and the Vs plan for surgery.
Erica comes home to talk to Ty and finds him watching something about the church of V. She tries to talk to him, but he runs off to meet Lisa.
Anna tells Lisa she needs Tyler to be part of the live aboard program and remain on the ship until he's no longer needed. And then.... (she doesn't answer, ominously).
Anna is briefed that their doctors are already experimenting on the humans. Marcus tells her about the two visitors Ryan killed. She orders him to release a soldier, even though none has ever set foot on earth. Marcus is to follow him every step of the way.
In the basement, Kyle breaks out the heretic's fork, a medieval torture device, and is about to use it on Barnes when Father Jack returns and tells him that until they know for sure he's lying, they'll treat him with decency.
Joshua's call from the mothership comes through.
Lisa greets Tyler with Anna. He's psyched about the program, but knows his mom won't like it. Anna suggests Lisa stop by later and reassure her.
Father Jack relays Joshua's news, about the soldier after Ryan and Val. But they have no way to contact them. Erica says the prints are back on the sniper, he's ex-military like Hobbes thought. She's heading to his house, hoping for a Fifth Column list to help them contact Ryan and Val.
Ryan gets reacquainted with the Thompsons, who have a cabin in the Adirondacks they can use.
Marcus finds their R6 signal wasn't working, but the soldier has found them.
We see a bad-looking V outside the country home.
On the mothership, Chad undergoes his procedure as the cameras roll. He's not cut open, instead lasers whip around his head and his brain is accessed on a computer screen.
He wakes up to Anna telling him his surgery was a success. He thanks her. She says she wishes all humans shared his sentiment, which of course gets him to ask if there's a problem. She tells him about Fifth Column and he offers to run a story on them.
Erica visits Barnes' wife. She says their daughter was paralyzed from the neck down -- but just then a girl walks into the kitchen, fine. She says the Visitors healed her.
Erica asks to use the bathroom but instead goes poking around upstairs. In an office she finds an external hard drive and takes it.
Back in the basement with Barnes still hung up, they get a few names and partial addresses from it, including Thompson. Barnes says he won't help terrorists and the Vs didn't have to ask him to kill for them. Erica tells him he has innocent blood on his hands. He says they don't believe in fighting, so people like him have to do it for them.
Erica asks again where the Thompsons live. She says either he'll tell her, or eventually he'll tell Hobbes. Hobbes suggests Father Jack leave the room.
Later, Hobbes joins Erica and Father Jack in the car announcing that he knows where the Thompson's farm is.
In the farm house, they're getting ready to leave when the lights go out. Mr. Thompson passes out shotguns.
Mr. Thompson is working his way through the house when the soldier drops from the ceiling and snaps his neck. Mrs. Thompson goes down next.
The soldier uses his special V Soldier hearing and listens for heartbeats in the house.
Ryan leads Val and Leah down the upstairs hallway when suddenly the soldier busts through the ceiling onto Val. She gets free and Ryan takes the soldier on. The soldier gets in a few good licks and knocks Ryan down when Erica and Father Jack bust in the door and shoot it. It runs off.
They run for the car, where Val and the doctor are waiting, and the soldier follows. As it runs around the corner of the house, Hobbes sticks an ax in its chest. The soldier is knocked down, but seems unfazed by what should be a mortal wound.
They drive off, leaving the soldier there.
At a train station, Ryan explains that soldiers are bred to fight from eggs Anna laid. They say their good byes to Ryan.
Hobbes says he knows some people who can disappear Barnes into a secret prison overseas. Erica doesn't object.
Ryan joins Val and Leah to get on the train. Val doesn't want him to come with them. She doesn't want to see him again. She doesn't forgive him and says he was only protecting himself. She says good-bye.
Chad visits Father Jack. He tells him he thinks Anna is keeping secrets from them. He mentions the Fifth Column. Father Jack says he hasn't heard of them. Chad says he's worried about the visitors and wants to know he's not alone. Father Jack says he'll let him know if he hears anything.
Marcus tells Anna they lost the hybrid baby. She tells him to keep looking. Chad comes to see her. He says he might have something for her on the Fifth Column and will let her know. She's pleased.
Erica has a stiff drink at home alone. The doorbell rings. It's Lisa. She says looking for Tyler and asks to come in and wait.
Erica makes her tea. Lisa says Tyler has learned a lot from the Vs. She casually mentions the live aboard program and Erica tries to contain her rage and fear. She says she feels like Tyler is slipping away from her and she wants him to be happy. Tyler comes home.
He has flowers for Lisa. She asks to talk to him. She tells him she doesn't think he should do the live aboard program because his mom really needs him. He says he doesn't want to stay there. Erica can hear him. Lisa says she should leave and goes.
Tyler confronts his mom, asking what she said to Lisa. He doesn't believe her when she says nothing. He tells her he's moving up to the ship and there's nothing she can do about it.
Lisa tells Anna that Tyler won't be doing live aboard because his mom needs him. She tells Anna she can be more effective if she has Erica's cooperation. Anna flinches, but says she trusts Lisa's judgment.
Kyle Hobbes marches Barnes deep into the woods. "First you're going to tell me everything you know about the Vs," Hobbes says, "then you're going to beg me to kill you."
