There have been rumors that Sony Pictures might be developing a live-action Miles Morales movie since the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film swung into theatres in 2019, and last year, former studio head Amy Pascal appeared to confirm that tentative plans were in place.
“You’ll see all of it,” Pascal said when asked about the prospect of Miles making the jump to live-action during a red-carpet interview. “It’s all happening.”
Nothing particularly concrete, but rumors have persisted, and Sony was said to be interested in fast-tracking a Morales feature after the massive success of Into the Spider-Verse sequel, Across the Spider-Verse. Now, it seems we finally have some movement on the project.
According to reliable insider Jeff Sneider on this week's episode of The Hot Mic, the studio is in the process of casting an actor to play Miles in live action. He doesn't mention any potential contenders for the role,...

Tom Hardy has made his name as one of the most intense actors that people love watching on screen. The actor’s method approach to his roles and his insistence on going deep into the skin of a character has led to some high-brow performances in Bronson, The Dark Knight Rises, The Revenant, and Capone where he became almost unrecognizable.

Hardy is also infamous for his uncanny and weird accent choices in some of his films that people have found to be hard to understand. He did the same for his upcoming film The Bikeriders, attempting a Midwestern accent. In addition to wanting to play against expectations with his character, he was also not really concerned about authentically replicating a certain dialect.

It’s already been a great year for sci-fi, thanks to blockbusters such as Dune: Part Two and Civil War, as well as goofball flicks like Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and any other movies with the word “empire” in the title. Sure, it’s not all perfect. Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson, has been pulled from the release schedule and there’s no way that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will release this year. But overall, 2024 has been a strong start for sci-fi movies.
Even better, 2024 isn’t even halfway done. Per tradition, Den of Geek has put together a list of the big sci-fi movies heading your way for the rest of the year. This list doesn’t include upcoming sci-fi movies without firm release dates, but it will when they are announced. It will also be updated regularly to add any movies we may have missed,...

To celebrate the anticipated release of The Bikeriders, which opens in cinemas this week, we sat down and got our leather jackets on to chat to one of the film’s stars and its writer/director.
The Bikeriders follows the rise of a midwestern motorcycle club, the Vandals. Seen through the lives of its members, the club evolves over the course of a decade from a gathering place for local outsiders into a more sinister gang, threatening the original group’s unique way of life. The film stars Tom Hardy (Venom: The Last Dance), Jodie Comer (The End We Start From), Austin Butler (Dune Part Two), Boyd Holbrook (The Predator), Mike Faist (Challengers) and Michael Shannon (Midnight Special).
Chatting to Nichols and Hardy, we talk motorbikes and riding some classic feats of engineering, why they wanted to work together, their love of Michael Shannon and why he is Nichols’ “Michael Caine” lucky charm,...

If you remember, we on Fiction Horizon have written a lot about Furiosa and its results at the box office. We have reported that George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga managed to win the Memorial Day weekend box office ahead of The Garfield Movie, but the overall result was disappointing and based on the current numbers, which we have also reported on, the movie is unlikely to break even, which is somewhat strange. Namely, as we have reported, everyone is praising Furiosa, and we know that the studio is proud of the project, it hasn’t drawn a lot of people to cinemas, which is why these disappointing box office results seem strange.
We have also reported that the future of the Mad Max franchise might depend on the financial success of Furiosa, but while it has not been confirmed, Tom Hardy, who played Max Rockatansky in Fury Road,...

George Miller’s Mad Max Saga has been a long-standing franchise, which he started back in 1979 with Mad Max. The movie starred Mel Gibson in the lead role, and continued for two more movies till 1985. Then Tom Hardy came into the picture with the Mad Max reboot in 2015, which became a box office hit worldwide. But instead of continuing on its success, Miller decided to do a prequel movie with Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiosa.

In Mad Max: Fury Road, Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron came together as Max and Furiosa to deliver a blockbuster. Unfortunately, Miller was unable to recreate the same magic with Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, starring Taylor-Joy in the lead. And with the mediocre response of the latest movie, things are not looking too good for the franchise, which had plans to continue after the prequel movie.

Over the weekend, we brought you the news that Venom: The Last Dance may have plans for Knull, God of the Symbiotes. Sony Pictures arguably hasn't done enough to build to his debut, though the Venom franchise and "logic" have never exactly gone hand-in-hand.
Today, we have a counter rumour from scooper @MyTimeToShineH. Apparently, Knull isn't in the Venom threequel and is instead the studio's "ultimate villain for the spinoff-verse so they're keeping him for a crossover event."
With Tom Hardy strongly hinting that his time as Eddie Brock is over, how likely this is remains to be seen. Not helping matters is the fact Morbius flopped after setting the stage for a team-up between the Living Vampire, The Vulture, and other villains in a widely ridiculed post-credits scene.
Madame Web, meanwhile, was standalone and it's too soon to say what will become of Kraven the Hunter.

Sony Pictures gave the first major studio presentation at the 2024 CineEurope trade show on Monday.
In a short but sweet show in Barcelona — which preceded the screening of Greg Berlanti’s rom-com “Fly Me to the Moon,” starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum — Sony’s president of international distribution Steven O’Dell gave a whistle-stop rundown of the studio’s upcoming titles, revealing an enviable list of filmmakers it’s working with.
Among the films referenced were Danny Boyle’s zombie sequel “28 Years Later,” starring Cillian Murphy, Jodie Comer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson; Taika Waititi’s “Klara and the Sun,” starring Jenna Ortega; and Sam Mendes’ upcoming films about the four members of the Beatles, which O’Dell said would be “distinct, but interconnected.”
Also mentioned were Jason Reitman’s “SNL 1975,” about the build up to the premiering of “Saturday Night Live,” the sequel to the Tom Holland-starring action-adventure “Uncharted,...

Over the past 24 hours, a rumour has surfaced on social media which suggests Venom: The Last Dance will feature the debut of Knull, one of Eddie Brock's greatest enemies on the page.
It's said that he'll be the one who sends the symbiote-eating Xenophage after the Lethal Protector because he needs him to "execute a secret master plan." As of now, there's no word on who would play Knull or how big of a role he'll likely play in the threequel.
However, other reliable social media scoopers have since chimed in, and it sounds like there's at least some truth to this.
Knull was introduced by writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman and first appeared in 2018's Venom #3. The villain is an ancient, malevolent deity and the creator of the symbiotes, including Venom and Carnage (he also has ties to Gorr the God Butcher).

Hollywood filmmakers had once found a magic recipe to create a superhero movie with a budget of $100 to $200 million and gain at least $500 million at the box office. While that may have been the case in the past, the February 14 premiere of Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson, told a different tale.
This reinforces the idea that having a superhero set alone is insufficient and that a strong story would make all the difference.
First look at Sydney Sweeney and Dakota Johnson from Madame Web
This disaster was a severe blow to Sony’s Spider-Man universe and raised concerns about what would happen to the company’s future projects, particularly the Tom Hardy film that is due for release later this year.
Juno Temple has high hopes for the Tom Hardy starrer Venom: The Last Dance
Sony’s Spider-Man universe started off the year with a rather lackluster performance with Madame Web.

2023 was an unmitigated disaster for the DC Extended Universe and even Marvel Studios struggled after The Marvels bombed at the box office.
For Sony Pictures' Marvel Universe, things haven't been good for a long time. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 went way over budget in 2014 and a combination of lower-than-expected profits and negative reviews left them with no other choice than to share the web-slinger with Marvel Studios.
Those movies have been a massive success, but Sony's own live-action efforts have been a mixed bag. Venom was a box office hit but ended up being eviscerated by critics. Venom: Let There Be Carnage was in a similar position, but Morbius and Madame Web are destined to go down as two of the biggest superhero flops ever made.

The highly anticipated trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, which is the concluding chapter to Tom Hardy’s Venom trilogy and the latest addition to Sony’s Spider-man Universe (Ssu), finally dropped on June 3, 2024. It has already hit 21M+ views on YouTube and 29M+ plays on Instagram. But, in classic Sony fashion, it’s got the internet buzzing for all the wrong reasons. The trailer starts fine enough, featuring Eddie Brock (Hardy) sporting the same clothes he wore during his brief trip to the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home’s mid-credits scene. As the trailer progresses we see a cool action...

Some viewers are unhappy that Marvel and Sony’s universes seem to be leaking into each other. But a strong franchise should be able to go everywhere all at once
What a pity Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock didn’t last very long in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One meagre end-credits scene at the tail end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Brock and his disgusting symbiotic buddy were wrenched back to Sony’s slightly pitiful Spider-Man Universe. In the grand scheme of things, this is a bit like joining the orchestra performing a symphony at Carnegie Hall only to discover yourself suddenly strumming a broken guitar in the bogs at Hmp Pentonville.
Even more strangely, there are weird echoes of Brock’s brief appearance in the MCU in the debut trailer for Hardy’s final appearance as the alien-assisted antihero in Venom: The Last Dance, which hit the interweb this week.

Sony’s Venom: The Last Dance, Everything You Need To Know (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Sony’s Spider-Man Universe will continue with Venom: The Last Dance as the last chapter in the trilogy is confirmed to follow up the 2021 sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The series is highly anticipated to follow the antihero Marvel Comics character, Eddie Brock, and the alien organism which bonds well with his symbiotic alter ego. Despite the character’s absence from standalone films, Venom has made a memorable appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline following a brief crossover in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
After Sony’s villainverse was brought to the MCU in Let There Be Carnage, Marvel fans are eagerly waiting to see what’s next for Venom. Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait much longer as The Last Dance is already underway with a new storyline, a new writer, and a new director.

To some, releasing a trailer for Venom: The Last Dance during Pride month might just be a happy coincidence. But for queer fans of the Tom Hardy-led film series, the timing of this release was everything. While the previous entries in this film series, Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, have been generally panned (including by some of our staff), there is a subset of fans who celebrate the films for the queer subtext lying beneath that flashy blockbuster facade. And a lot of this has to do with Tom Hardy’s portrayal of both Venom and Eddie Brock.

Tom Hardy is one such actor who has surprised audiences with his choices of films and the intensity delivers with every role he plays. In compelling character-driven dramas like Warrior. Locke, Bronson, and The Revenant the actor played some complex characters that are morally layered. Hardy has also played two significant characters in both Marvel and DC films.

A couple days ago, Sony Pictures unveiled a trailer for their Marvel Comics adaptation Venom: The Last Dance, giving us our first look at the film that’s meant to wrap up the Venom series and is aiming for an October 25th theatrical release. Now Forbes has published an interview with star Tom Hardy in which he talks about ending the series with a bang – and teased that this movie might have an R rating. (The previous two Venom movies were rated PG-13.)
Hardy told Forbes, “This one – I’m so, so excited about because we’ve gone much bigger. With a trip down memory lane, and numerous Easter eggs in the film, it was an experience to behold for fans across the world. And it wouldn’t have been the same without the return of Garfield and Maguire’s Spider-Man. And this induction was made possible only because of how Disney Studios acquired the rights to Spider-Man. But Tom Hardy might have dropped a major update on a future Spider-Man movie.

The first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released yesterday and...well, it was quite something. It's a Venom movie, alright, and while it looks like an "epic" conclusion to the trilogy, there are signs of the same old problems.
Sony Pictures has never quite managed to grasp this character, but Venom was a hit in 2018 and Venom: Let There Be Carnage also performed well despite being released in the final months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
That's given the studio a false sense of confidence and a belief that, no matter what fans and critics say, the goofy direction they've taken this franchise in is the right one. In this feature, we single out moments in the trailer which highlight the mistakes Sony has already made with Venom: The Last Dance.

Following the release of the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, star Tom Hardy took part in an interview with Forbes, and the actor had some interesting things to say about Sony Pictures' "Ssu" and the fact that Spider-Man has yet to show up in the franchise.
Hardy began by sharing his excitement for what is being marketed as the final solo Venom movie.
“This one - I’m so, so excited about because we’ve gone much bigger. Kelly [Marcel] and I have been working with Tom Rothman and Sanford [Panitch] and their Sony team for 7-8 years now. We started off - like, initially, [Venom] was just Eddie Brock and nobody knew what we were going to do. Then the second [film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage] - we wrote the second one, we pitched it, got to direct it, put the team together on that - that was huge!

The MCU is at it again, as they have made their fandom go nuts with the release of the new trailer of Venom: The Last Dance. The fans are baffled by the fact that Chiwetel Ejiofor portrays different roles in the superhero franchise. But what has left them confused is how a small part of the symbiote was left behind in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The segment is now a part of the MCU, leaving fans dazed. Even though it might sound surprising to some fans, this is not the first time when the franchise has massacred its holy timeline. Back in 2022, the fans were left equally bewildered because in the post-credits scene of Morbius an old face from Ssu was featured.

The first trailer for the final instalment in Sony Pictures' Venom trilogy, The Last Dance, was released yesterday, and while the footage didn't feature many major reveals, we did get confirmation that a villainous Symbiote teased in the previous movie will appear.
Towards the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, it was heavily implied that corrupt detective Pat Mulligan (Stephen Graham) had merged with a piece of the Carnage Symbiote. Mulligan returns in the trailer for The Last Dance, but the closed captions for the character's dialogue label him as Toxin.
"As long as Venom lives, everything, everyone will end," he says as the teaser cuts to shots of Venom in action.
It remains to be seen if Toxin is actually unleashed in this movie, but it would seem like an odd move to use the name in the subtitles if we weren't going to see Mulligan transform at least once.

House of the Dragon has a highly decorated cast, often making appearances in other famous franchises. As the release date for the Game of Thrones prequel draws closer, fans are excited to see what the second season holds. The cast is currently busy with promotional tours, and the show’s alum Rhys Ifans (Otto Hightower) paid a visit to the Venom-verse somewhere in between.

The third installment of Sony’s Venom series is also supposedly its last. The trailer picks up right after MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Rhys Ifans appeared as his The Amazing Spider-Man character, Kurt Conners/the Lizard. Venom appears in the post-credit scene of that movie, and it seems like he just managed to hop back to his universe. However, things are worse here as Venom reveals his kind has launched an attack on Earth.

A few hours down the line, Sony dropped the much-anticipated trailer for Venom: The Last Dance. The third iteration of the franchise helmed by Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock previewed some of the most iconic scenes that it had in store and took fans over by storm. Additionally, it also highlighted a sense of tension and brought forward the fact that it could indeed be the last time that the symbiotic relationship rolls on the screens, at least for the British actor.

Yesterday, the first trailer for ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ was released, featuring Eddie Brock and Venom on the run after defeating Carnage. From what we saw, Eddie and Venom are being hunted not only by humans but also by other symbiotes.
Recently, leaked merchandise hinted that the villain in the upcoming movie could be Toxin or Lasher. The newly released trailer has confirmed that the antagonist will indeed be Toxin.
The confirmation came from the trailer subtitles when Stephen Graham’s character, who looks like he’s been captured and held in a cell, spoke.
Toxin is the child of the Carnage symbiote, making him the “grandchild” of the original Venom symbiote. Toxin is considered one of the strongest symbiotes. Based on how ‘Let There Be Carnage’ ended, Toxin has plenty of reasons to go after Eddie and Venom. Toxin’s main host, and the one in the movie, is Patrick Mulligan.

For Tony Todd, his voice role as Venom in in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the latest in a career that has been full of heroes and villains.
The actor is known for his work ranging from Candyman, where he played the titular urban legend, to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, in which he voiced the titular Decepticon known as The Fallen.
With Spider-Man 2, he steps into the suit of one of Spider-Man’s chief villains for the game that stands as PlayStation Studios’ fastest selling game, and which this this spring unveiled an update featuring new suits and the ability to replay at a harder difficulty. Since the inception of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, excluding Spider-Man, the only thing that has gone their way till now is the Venom franchise. Even though the first movie failed to win over critics and was panned critically, it made enough splash at the box office to warrant a sequel and keep Sony’s strive for an interconnected universe alive.
However, apart from Venom, Sony’s attempt at a villain-centric universe hasn’t worked out well, as two of their last releases were both critical and box-office failures. But with the threequel on the way, whose first trailer has been released, it seems this might not be the last of the Symbiote.

Have rumors of the superhero movie demise been greatly exaggerated? At a time when even the vaunted Marvel Cinematic Universe has gone through some rough patches and the entire live-action DC Universe undergoes a total creative reboot, the luster seems to have finally worn off the industry's golden goose. Too bad nobody appears to have delivered that memo to the wackiest odd-couple pairing in the entire genre ... or to the legions of fans looking forward to turning their latest antics into more viral memes.
After first worming their way into everyone's goo-filled hearts in 2018's "Venom" and serving up a second heaping of chaotic energy in "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" three years later, Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock and the violent, head-chomping symbiote joined to him at the hip (literally) are making their grand return in the trilogy-capping "Venom: The Last Dance." Although mostly content to reside in its...

“Eddie… my home has found me,” the symbiote Venom warns his host Eddie Brock in the first trailer for the third Venom movie, Venom: The Last Dance. For the longest time, that statement wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.
After all, Venom’s “home” was Battleworld, the planet where the Beyonder took a cadre of heroes and villains in the 1984 Marvel Comics crossover Secret Wars. When Spider-Man’s costume was ruined, a machine on Battleworld created a new one for him, which later revealed itself to be a malevolent symbiote. When Peter abandoned the suit, it bonded with the equally aggrieved photographer Eddie Brock and became Venom.
Simple, right? So simple that the origin stayed pretty much the same over the years, even as guys like Carnage showed up. Alternate versions of the Venom story, such as Spider-Man 3 or the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 video game, found...

In Venom: Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene, Eddie Brock was teleported from his reality to Earth-616 (a.k.a. the Marvel Cinematic Universe).
His beaten-up Mexico hotel was replaced by what looked like a 5* resort, with the Venom Symbiote taking great interest in a TV news report about the wall-crawler. The stage was then set for a meeting between the two characters, only for Spider-Man: No Way Home to end with the reveal that Eddie never left his resort.
However, Venom did leave a piece of himself behind on Earth-616 in a scene clearly meant to open the door to Tom Holland's Peter Parker getting his own alien suit.
With Eddie sent back to where he came from, only a bartender - played by Ted Lasso's Cristo Fernández - was left to comment on the fact his sole customer vanished without paying his tab.

The first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released earlier today and offered fans a first look at the threequel. For those of you who enjoyed Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, this movie certainly promises to be...more of the same.
However, it seems the plan is to up the ante and have Eddie Brock facing threats from Earth and Klyntar; that's evident from a newly released synopsis.
"In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance."
You'll notice that this is now being billed as the "final film in the trilogy,...
