J. Scott Campbell's Danger Girl was one of my favorite comic books to read when I was a teen. I loved the concept of badass female super spies! I've been wanting to see this comic adapted into a feature film or TV series for years and it's finally going to happen!
According to Deadline, Constantin Film acquired rights to the comic book series and they are teaming up with Jeremy Bolt’s Bolt Pictures and Adrian Askarieh’s Prime Universe Films to produce a film and develop a TV show based on the property.
The creators of the comic, J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell, are set to executive produce the series. The studio is currently on the hunt a writer and director to develop the film.

Development continues on a feature film adaptation of the comic book series "Danger Girl", with Todd Lincoln ("The Apparition") directing for producers Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter.
The "Danger Girl" comic book series, a spoof on "James Bond", was created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell, following a group of female secret agents led by their mentor 'Deuce', a former 'British Secret Service' Agent lured away from retirement by the United Nations to fashion and oversee the world’s first all-female espionage network, adopting the code name 'Danger Girl'.
A "Danger Girl" video game was released for Sony PlayStation in 2000.
Four "Danger Girl" figures were created by Canada's McFarlane Toys, depicting the characters 'Abbey Chase', 'Sydney Savage', 'Natalia Kassle' and the villain 'Major Maxim'.

When I moved back to Los Angeles many years ago, Todd Lincoln was one of the first directors I interviewed. At the time, he was in line to helm a screen adaptation of Hack/Slash. That film never worked out for him, so he moved on to a few other projects, including The Apparition which is seeing its release this Friday (August 24th).
For our 48th episode of Choice Cuts, we pulled in Lincoln to discuss his supernatural thriller, his time on Hack/Slash, the fate of his Danger Girl adaptation and the two projects he is currently at work on: Joe Hill's Twittering from the Circus of the Dead and The Nye Incidents.

Book: Danger Girl: Revolver #4
Written By: Andy Hartnell
Pencils By: Chris Madden
Publisher: Idw
Release Date: Out Now In Stores & Digital Download (Via Comixology)
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
So we’ve come to the end of another Danger Girl mini series and with an opening page extremely reminiscent of classic Danger Girl with Donovin Conrad held over a pit of Alligators, we’re off to a great start. So far this series has been a mixed bag, starting strong but by issue three it felt a bit drab and rushed. Issue #4 certainly improves from the previous issue but it’s not exactly classic Danger Girl.
With Abbey joining Donovin for the big bad guy auction in order to retrieve the sacred medallion we’re in territory that Danger Girl can thrive in. Abbey is in a pretty dress, Sydney watches from afar and new girl Sonya is waiting in the wings to strike.

Well this is not the issue I expected it to be. At the end of issue #2 we were introduced to our new Danger Girl Sonya Savage, so presumably this issue, the penultimate issue in the four issue run would be letting us get to know our new red headed archer and welcome her into the team but no this is not the case at all. Instead we are thrown forward to after the events of the last issue’s cliffhanger and have the bad guys (one of which is very Samuel L. Jackson in design) recount what had happened with the Danger Girls and then all hell breaks loose aboard the train they are travelling on in a madcap action bonanza that moves a...

Writer Elliott Serrano (from the previous AoD releases) and artist Marat Mychaels ("Youngblood" and "Demonslayer") will provide an ongoing saga that promises to be a new chapter. As the evil of the Necronomicon spreads across the cosmos, a new ally in the war against the Deadites emerges. There is a woman going by the name of "Ash," and readers may very well ask what her relation is with the real "Chosen One?" Is Ashley J. Williams going to have competition? They will be answered in due time, as our accidental hero travels deep into a pyramid of Ancient Egypt in a parallel dimension in the first tale.

We Begin today's round-up with a warning: Don't get your hopes up just yet for a movie based on the Danger Girl comic.
Created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell, the series follows three very curvaceous secret agents who take on assignments like those in Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible while drawing the obvious Charlie's Angels comparisons.
Pegged some years ago as a surefire bet for a film, and with Todd Lincoln attached as a director last year, the project returned to obscurity until this week when Latino Review reported that Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) and Sofia Vergara (TV's Family Matters) would be filling the lead roles.
Though no writer or script have been mentioned, this latest update indicated progress was being made behind the scenes. But if you think the casting sounded too good to be true, you'd be right.

Back in April of last year, we brought you the news that director Todd Lincoln (The Apparition) was set to helm the big-screen adaptation of the WildStorm comic book Danger Girl, created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell, the comic centers on a group of scantily clad female secret agents battling villains across the globe.
Now, according to TrackingBoard, Kate Beckinsale (Underworld: Awakening), Milla Jovovich (Faces in the Crowd), and Sofía Vergara (New Year’s Eve, Modern Family) are reportedly attached to star in the big-screen adaptation.
Chris Bender and Jc Spink of the production company Benderspink have reportedly been shopping the project to studios with the three actresses attached to star, presumably as the three main characters in the comic, Abbey Chase, Natalia Kassle, and Sydney Savage.

What do lovely ladies Milla Jovoich (Resident Evil, The 5th Element), Kate Beckinsale (Underworld, Van Helsing) and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family, Madea Goes to Jail) have in common? What do you get when you take a bunch of Bond Girls and make the secret agents? The answers to these two questions are the same; Danger Girl.
Danger Girl is a Wildstorm comic book series created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell. It follows Abbey Chase (the team leader), Sydney Savage (the wild card) and Silicon Valerie (the young upstart) as they are recruited by Deuce, a former British Secret Service Agent interested in starting up an all-female espionage network (though Deuce himself is male and very Sean Connery-like).
Now Latino Review explains Jovovich, Beckinsale and Vergara are in contention for the three starring roles. Interesting. Is Beckinsale the youngest of the three? I suppose that would make her Valerie.

Updated: The Playlist have kindly just forwarded their twitter feed where the Wme agency representing Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale & Sofia Vergara have denied the story;
But…. isn’t it an interesting idea?
Someone should make this….
Bleeding Cool report that various tracking boards are spreading the rumour today that Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale and Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara are wanted for a proposed movie adaptation of J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell‘s comic book series Danger Girl.
First published in 1998, the series is like James Bond meets Charlie’s Angels and focuses on a group of female secret agents mentored by Deuce (who is basically Bond). This means that there could be as many as four major female heroines in the film adaptation and it’s likely that all three women are wanted for separate roles in what could be a female version of The Expendables, especially if...

In what seems like a fanboy's glorious dream, quite a sexy cast might be coming together for an adaptation of the J. Scott Campbell comic book series Danger Girl. Keep in mind that this should only be taken as rumor for the time being, but Latino Review has early word from the tracking boards that Benderspink is currently shopping around the rights to an adaptation of the comic with Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) and Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family") all attached to star in a project described as Kill Bill meets Raiders of the Lost Ark with the ensemble team element of Mission Impossible. The Danger Girl comic series is about a group of sexy lady spies lead by a Sean Connery lookalike who search the globe for sacred relics. Think of it as Charlie’s Angels meets Indiana Jones meets Kill Bill, only with more revealing clothing. In short, there’s a movie to be made here.
According to Latino Review, that movie is on the way, with Kate Beckinsale, Milla Jovovich, and Sofia Vergara attached to play the three lead characters. Review cites only “tracking boards” in its news break, but we can dream, can’t we?
Cinema Blend assumes the actresses are up for the roles of Natalia Kassle (the double agent), Sydney Savage (the sassy Aussie) and Abbey Chase (the leader), but there’s no word on who will play which Danger Girl if this story ends up being more than just a rumor.

Latino Review report that actresses Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale and Sofia Vergara are all in the running to star in Danger Girl, an adaptation of the J. Scott Campbell/Andy Hartnell comic book series. The site add that the log line for the project is, "A beautiful adventuress joins forces with an all-female spy agency as they race around the world to recover a trio of powerful relics." With Benderspink reportedly putting the package together and shopping the rights around to major studios, we may not have long to wait until we see the three hotties on the big screen together playing the sexy trio of spies. The comic book series, which debuted in 1998, was an action-adventure spy series revolving around a group of highly intelligent and deadly buxom babes, all of whom had special skills in weaponry, demolitions and treasure-hunting as part of the top-secret organization 'Danger Girl'.

Update: The Playlist has contacted the actresses' representatives and they have debunked this story as rumor, saying that none of them are attached to the project. Guess someone's pipe dreams accidentally started leaking. It's funny that both Kate Beckinsale and Milla Jovovich have built very similar careers. Both are married to action directors (Len Wiseman and Paul W.S. Anderson, respectively) and both have worked with their hubby filmmakers to create franchises with at least four films starring the actresses as strong, ass-kicking protagonists (Underworld and Resident Evil). The two have never starred in a film together, but according to Latino Review that may soon change. Back in April 2010, it was announced that a big-screen adaptation of the Wildstorm comic book series Danger Girl was in the works with Todd Lincoln at the helm and Adrian Askarieh producing.
Apparently, three big name actresses -- two of whom are kick-ass action stars -- are now attached to star in the film as the three Danger Girls from the series.
Latino Review is reporting that Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale, and Sofia Vergara will be taking on these roles.

After reading that headline, fans of J. Scott Campbell’s comic books series “Danger Girl” might have had their heads explode. And even people who don’t know what “Danger Girl” is are most likely now intrigued. Say what you will about the Underworld and Resident Evil series; they’re not great, but they managed to cast leading ladies so appealing that they just keep making money and getting more sequels produced anyways. And now this new action adventure tale looks to take both of those leads, Kate Beckinsale and Milla Jovovich, and have them running around in skin tight outfits together. Plus they’re going to throw in Modern Family’s buxom and charismatic Sofia Vergara for good measure. I’ve maybe never heard better news in my entire life. Does that sound misogynistic? Who cares… hot ladies shooting guns and doing high kicks! Yeah! For the uninitiated, Danger Girl takes the James Bond concept and...

You don’t have to be a comic book nerd (or live in your mom’s basement, though that probably helps) to think that the idea of Kate Beckinsale (of “Underworld” fame), Milla Jovovich (of “Resident Evil”) fame, and Sofia Vergara (of hot Spanish curves fame) all in the same movie is just too much for even the lecherous of comic book geeks. But according to Latino Review, that’s the going rumor about an upcoming live-action movie based on the “Danger Girl” comic book. Created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell, “Danger Girl” follows a “group of female secret agents led by a mentor named Deuce. Last year is was announced that the J. Scott Campbell comic book Danger Girl was going to gloriously get a big screen adaptation. I freakin' loved this comic book, as a teenage boy how could you go wrong with three beautiful woman kicking ass? I even own the action figures.
The comic book series was created by Campbell and Andy Hartnell. The story features a group of busty, scantily-clad secret agents led by a mentor named Deuce. The comic is a spoof of James Bond-style spy/action stories, with the Danger Girls being a send-up of the Bond girls. Unlike the Bond girls, however, the Danger Girls are the stars of the series.
Latino Review reports that "According to tracking boards, Benderspink is out this morning to the town with the rights to Danger Girl." They also reveal that three actresses are attached to the film project, and those actresses are.

So here are the classic Image Comics titles that I think should be the next super TV series (All of you big movie studios types need to take note!).

DC may have two of the superhero genre’s heaviest hitters in Superman and Batman, but without Wonder Woman—whose projects have had a hard time taking off as of late—the publisher’s film presence remains one gal short of The Big Three, the foundation of all Justice League dreams.
As it turns out, though, in this climate of seemingly endless superhero marketability, such circumstances may not stand in the way of DC and production counterpart Warner Bros shopping around a certain winged character who's spent time on the ever-changing Justice League roster.
Rumor has it a “Hawkman” movie is being shepherded by producers Adrian Askarieh, Gregory Novack and production executive Will Hackner. The info comes courtesy of It’sOnTheGrid (via The Playlist), a members-only site for tracking Hollywood project seedlings.
You can read the prospective log-line for the potential film below, and it's interesting, to say the least:...

Too often, when famous and successful franchises are mixed together for a crossover, you end up with a total disaster. Danger Girl and Army of Darkness manages, though not as well as the respective source materials, to be a fun, fast-paced, action-packed read!
Danger Girl, created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell in 1998, had a mind-blowing spectacular first mini-series. A large part of its appeal, apart from the Indiana Jones meets James Bond meets Playboy bunnies mash-up, was Campbell’s distinctive style of illustration.
Subsequent volumes, while employing skilled creators like Phil Noto, have seen a decline in art. While not bad in and of itself, the pages just don’t match with the curvy, eye-popping work of J. Scott Campbell. This latest series suffers from the same problem. Written by co-creator Andy Hartnell, with good art by Chris Bolson; it is a worth reading, but falls short of matching its source-piration.

In non-Sheen-related posting, Mark Millar's been looking at the screenplay for "Nemesis" by Matt Carnahan, and he sounds pleased. His impressions and a "Blade Runner"-oriented photo that will make you wish you were at Emerald City Comicon await after the jump.

Apple's second-generation iPad announcement proved to be no match for trending champion Charlie Sheen this morning, at least in the Twitter Report feed. When he speaks of "winning," I can only assume that this is part of his master plan.
Channing Tatum's plans to do a Peter Pan origin movie and spelling confusion caused by Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's name did show up as well, though. Find out why, along who compared Charlie Sheen to some famous faces in comics and some advice to film critics from Edgar Wright, after the jump.

Charlie Sheen pt. 1: @JScottCampbell Kinda surprised that with his millions of $$$, that @CharlieSheen 's home looks just like any other generic track home! Winning...?!?
-J. Scott Campbell, Artist ("Gen¹³," "Danger Girl")
Charlie Sheen pt. 2: @pauljholden Charlie Sheen only looks bonkers to people who've never read an Alan Moore interview.

Sir Patrick Stewart, formerly of the Starship Enterprise, got himself knighted by Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday at Buckingham Palace. A few voices in the Twitter Report feed congratulated him, but Jeff Parker believes he knows what Stewart's first knightly duty should entail.
Much of the comics world was too busy to concern themselves with such news, however, since Heroes Con is scheduled for this weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina. Bernie Wrightson, R. Stevens, Rob Liefeld and a number of other have been packing to head out to the show, as well as tweeting the booth numbers you'll find them at. A few of those are retweeted after the jump where you can also find reactions to Ken Griffey Jr.'s retirement and some hot "Losers" artwork from Jock.
It's all in the Twitter Report for June 3, 2010.
