- Max visits Dr. Hatteras - as does Alice, without Tara knowing - telling him he has an obligation to continue his work with Tara. He agrees, but Alice tells him that one of the alters has disappeared. Needing a break, Charmaine asks Tara to take care of the baby for the day. It goes well until Tara comes out of an altered state in the middle of nowhere. She not only doesn't know where she is but has no idea which of her alters had emerged and set off with the baby. Max and Marshall fly off to New York City but Max's extreme fear of flying makes it a less than pleasant experience. In St. Louis, Kate introduces them to Evan and they all get to meet his young son, who proves to be a little terror.—garykmcd
- Open with Tara in the bathroom examining the cut on her arm. Marshall rushes in with news that his film was one of only 20 to be selected for the film festival in New York City. Max walks in complaining about their having to go to a pumpkin harvest that day. Tara has midterms coming up so Max is the next option to take Marshall. He's clearly concerned about the flying aspect of the trip.
While the family is lost in the corn maze, Noah tells Marshall his parents will never let him go with him to New York for the festival. He asks Marshall if he called Lionel and Marshall says he hasn't. Charmaine tells Tara she's been getting lonely at home with the baby. A person in a monster costume jumps out and scares Tara, who immediately transitions to Chicken and runs off. Noah ends up being the one to find Chicken, who is rubbing her back and saying "Stop, it hurts." Noah touches her arm and she transitions back to Tara.
On a pseudo-date at the airport Kate tells Evan about her history of online cake-sitter. They seem to be getting along very well during these brief visits. She tells him about meeting Max and Marshall on their way to New York and they decide for him to meet her family.
Tara thinks Max doesn't need to worry about her transitioning in the corn maze. Tara doesn't love Marshall's artistic side and Max hates the fact he has to fly.
Cut to Max and Marshall on what appears to be a bumpy flight. Max isn't doing very well and tells Kate to tell the pilot "to quit hot-dogging it." Max takes some of Tara's "wacky pills" they brought from home. Marshall tells Max about the prime placement of his film on Sunday. Max responds with "don't get your hopes up." Marshall doesn't like the comment.
Alice goes to see Hattarras. He reminds her that he's stopped seeing Tara and Alice says Tara doesn't know she's there. Alice says they are in the middle of an emergency, telling him that Chicken hasn't been seen since the corn maze. Hattarras isn't impressed, but perks up when Alice shows him the cut on Tara's arm. "Tara needs you," Alice says. "We all need you." Alice refuses to say who cut Tara. He goes to get an audio tape to play for her but Alice has left.
Kate lays down some ground rules for a now-stoned Max before they meet Evan. Marshall takes Kate aside and complains about once again having to take care of their parents. Evan didn't know how old Marshall was so he bought him a toy. Marshall isn't all that cool about it.
Charmaine wakes up Tara in the afternoon and ask if she'll watch Wheels while she takes time to get some stuff done.
Due to a mix-up with his ex Evan is there with his hyperactive son Monty.
Hattarras shows up at Tara's door and sees her holding Wheels. He says there's been a "slight turning of the screw" and asks to come inside. He tells her about Alice's visit and Chicken going missing. He says he knows she's been cutting herself and wants them to talk. She leaves to put the baby down.
We see Tara in the other room about to lay the baby in her bassinette. But her face changes to a devilish grin and she stands up with Wheels still in her arms. Hattarras calls out for Tara. He walks in the next room and sees the back door is wide-open.
Charmaine is sipping a cocktail telling her problems to the Asian woman doing her nails. She tries to rationalize getting out of the house for a few hours but then appear to talk herself into leaving and going back to Wheels. A mother of three in the salon named Abby overhears this. She tells Charmaine that the only way to stay sane is to take care of yourself as well. Charmaine gets weepy and tells her about being alone. Abby tells her to sit back down and have herself another drink.
Tara "wakes up" on a bus with Wheels still safe in her arms. She gets off and calls Hattarras, having no clue where she is. He tells her to figure out where she is.
Monty is all over the place in the terminal. He whispers "I hate you" to Kate.
Once they leave Kate tells Max she's not sure if she can handle Monty.
Charmaine comes home to find Hattarras at home. She initially freaks out until Tara walks in. The baby is asleep and fine, but Tara doesn't mention what happened. Charmaine hints at an affair and Tara notices Charmaine appears to have had her hair done.
In the other room Tara tells Hattarras she has no idea why or who took the baby. Tara says the contract appears to be no more and she can no longer feel Chicken. Hattarras wonders if maybe the person who took the baby was the one who hurt Chicken. She last felt Chicken in the corn maze and he wants her to take him there.
One the flight to New York Marshall asks for an apology for the "don't get your hopes up" line. He says flying doesn't get him the excuse like a dick and doesn't think it's his job to take care of him. Max says he's fried and apologizes. "You have no idea how proud I am of you."
Tara and Hattarras wander around the cornfield in the dark. Alice told him Chicken suffered "unspeakable things" there. Tara senses earth, sweat and games and starts to hear a noise. She hears screaming and rushes to where Noah found Chicken earlier. Tara is crying saying "she's dead. Chicken is dead." Hattarras asks who killed Chicken and Tara's face changes to that evil grin. She stands up, turns to face Hattarras and says "I killed her." Hattarras asks who this alter is. The response is "Oh you know me. I'm Bryce Craine." He asks why Bryce killed Chicken and the response is "clearly you haven't spent much time with Chicken." Bryce asks Hattarras if he has a car. Bryce says they need to find Tara because he's going to kill her.
