The entirety of the short 'Name that Show' was originally just an opening sketch to an online review of the television series "Cobra Kia", however while the review was scratched, the skit was further developed, and became it's own thing.
Flynn the robot often quotes lines from the movie "War Games".
The ending of the short was changed 4 times, the original script had Xander killing Bill Handtowel, burying Bill's body into the ground, and then had Xander getting hit by a car. In the first re-write, Ribberto was killed by Xander, and in the second re-write Ribberto was killed by Fylnn, and in the third and final re-writes, the final ending was made, in which Fylnn is killed by Bill Handtowel, and as Xander and Ribberto bury Fylnn's body and walk home, while Big Lots makes a return.
The opening scene is a parody of the opening scene of the TV show "Dispatches from Elsewhere".
The first short film in the movie; "Flynn the Crappy Robot", was the first full length short film Xander Hall ever made; with each "A Silly Slasher" being his third full-length short, and "Name that Show" and "Enter Ribberto" being is 4th and 5th full-length shorts, respectively. His second ever full length short, "A Very Merry Grinchmas" (2020) was cut from the film, due to its holiday theme, and as Xander put it; it being "unsalvageable trash".
