It's been 21 years since 'Jurassic Park' burst onto the big screen and inspired a generation of kids to major in Archaeology only to be saddled with copious amounts of debt and few job prospects…thanks a lot Steven Spielberg. But we've been watching it wrong for years! This isn't the story of how human hubris and greed coalesced into a perfect storm of velociraptor vengeance! It was the story of one leader's quest to get off that island and exact revenge on the man who tortured her sisters. The elusive man who kept them in a cage and would not tell them why. Clever Girl was the original Jack Shephard. Artist Nekoama was able to see the writing on the wall, the story we all missed. From the Velociraptors' perspective, they were just trying to save these large, bumbling hairless mammals from their own stupidity. They were progressive...

Marc Roussel is the Canadian director behind various short films. One his latest efforts, Remote (starring: Ron Basch, Sarah Silverthorne, George Komorowski, Peter Racanelli, Julie McCarthy, Nadia Di Carlo, Chris Willis, Ruth Barrett and Don Tjart) is a horror / thriller in which a man communicates via his television set to one of the former tenants of his residency. However, as there conversation progresses, he discovers that she was murdered by a vengeful slasher and it's up to him to try and prevent what happened in the past while in the present. With Remote, Marc Roussel showed that he is capable of directing a competently acted short film with a sleek, professional look on a modest budget. Remote also showed an ability to build and craft suspense through dialogue and the actions that the characters take instead of through editing techniques or gratuitous violence. Perhaps Marc Roussel will carry over these abilities into a feature film?...

Sweet Tooth Movie PosterDirector: Marc Roussel.
Writers: Marc Roussel, Ben Wilkinson, and Mark Thibodeau.
Sweet Tooth is a horror short of five minutes from director Marc Roussel based on the writing of Roussel, Ben Wilkinson and Mark Thibodeau. This film was part of the 24 Hour Toronto Film Challenge for 2006. In this competition, filmmakers have one day to make a short film based on certain elements. The essentials for Sweet Tooth were the use of the word Legend, the prop poison and the theme or plotline of Ghost Story. All three of these subjects are incorporated in this little film, which is both darkly comedic and effective in the film's delivery of the conclusion.
This movie obviously clips by at a quick pace, but essentially the film is a myth builder on this reviewer's favourite holiday, Halloween. In the film, a dejected adult trick or treater takes out his frustrations on...

The Elusive Man PosterDirectors/writers: Marc Roussel and Mark Sanders.
The Elusive Man is a co-creation from Marc Roussel (Remote) and Mark Sanders (40 Years Younger), which will have run at the Action on Film Int' Film Festival Sunday, July 25th. The film is more comedy than anything else as larger than life characters return from the '40s for wild bemusement (confusion). The result is a hit and miss short of sixteen minutes, with "the culturally devoid" Toronto, likely, the film's backdrop (Elusive).
The film starts off with a loveless marriage involving a mature man, of wealth, with a more beautiful, scheming vixen. A continuity error occurs quickly with the wife's position on the bed changing. However, the action moves ahead quickly with character Blaine (George Komorowski), the husband, getting mugged in his own office. Soon, ears are chopped off, a wife announces her cheating ways, and Blaine is threatened...
