The Walking Dead No. 126
When we last left our friends at the end of the world, Rick made a major move against the despicable Negan and his Saviors. A tense stand-off ensues, with Negan using every last bit of strength he's got to take Rick down. After a great little scuffle and some shots fired, we're left with a clean-up that everyone can feel good about. Rick makes an inspiring speech, Carl's upset, and the future remains as open as a blank slate at the end of the All Out War story arc.

B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth No. 118
Hellboy's old pals in the B.P.R.D. are in a heap of trouble (and he's no help). The world has, effectively, ended. Giant monsters pour from the center of the world. The Black Flame is a near-deific powerhouse of fire and muscle watching over ruined Manhattan. The key members of the group are scattered across the nation. And everyone's about to be eaten by some sort of monster. A blow-for-blow battle between Liz Sherman and the Flame ensues, and chaos is the law.

Now it's time for something a little more sinister. Welcome to Bagged and Boarded: comic reviews of the sick, spooky, twisted and terrifying! Creepy Comics No. 16 Dark Horse continues the tradition! Every month a new issue of Creepy Comics crawls from its crypt, breathes in the dusty air, and attempts to scare the pants off you! This issue we see a few great mini-comics about an evil website link, a clockmaker's obsession, nefarious cats, and a paradox of murder. Sounds pretty good, doesn't it? Bag it or board it up? I am a real sucker for these anthology revivals. It's crazy to think that in their heyday comics like this were read by just about everyone who read comics.

Monster and Madman No. 2
The wonderful monster mash-up from Steve Niles continues with issue two (of three). In the last issue, Frankenstein's Monster was found roaming the great frozen wastes immediately following the events of 'Frankenstein'. Now, he's met up with a very helpful doctor in London who goes by the nickname Jack. Seems suspicious, don't you think?
Bag it or board it up? There are so many ways that this comic could end up seeming corny. Oh, Frankenstein's Monster really bumps into Jack the Ripper? Yeah right! But it all works. Maybe it's the hypnotic artwork.

The ever-vile Negan and his followers have been putting pressure on the beleaguered "good guys." In this issue Negan's going for the final push, but the survivors hit back. Bag it or board it up? Saturday March 22nd marks a very special day in comics. Hellboy Day. It's crazy to think that the comic about the big red lug and his paranormal friends has been going strong for two decades. But time marches on, and Hellboy: The First 20 Years is a lush and wonderful commemoration of the comic. Monster & Madman No. 1
Although the cover of this awesome new comic screams "The Secret History of Jack the Ripper and Frankenstein's Monster" we only really spend time with the Monster in this first issue. The story takes place right after the events of Mary Shelley's famous novella, and we see the Monster roaming the frozen wastes of Antarctica searching for a life to live after his creator dies. One year after the events of the original film, in a plot line unrelated to the characters therein, a new Terminator zaps into the past. He's a bulky dude, a T-800 to be sure, and he's after a scientist who's discoveries could destroy Skynet. Okay, here's the plot to The Other Dead. Just stay with me on this one. I don't want to lose you right off the bat. All animals in the world have turned to zombies. Now, it's up to a rag-tag team of survivors, including President Obama, to get themselves out of danger. Yes, President Obama, in this issue, hacks at a zombie wolf with an axe. The Massive No. 19
The world has crashed. Everything is beyond repair and most places live in chaos and anarchy. There are no monsters, no zombies, just a ruined world. Our heroes, Israel Callum and his crew, sail along in a ship called The Kapital looking for their lost sister ship, The Massive. Now they find themselves in post-crash Europe, getting pulled deeper into a world they tried to leave behind.

Rick and his crew led a major assault on the villainous Negan. After dealing such a direct blow (with the help of hordes of zombies), our heroes retreated back to their camp. New comic book Wednesday has come and gone. The dust at your local comic shop has settled. An eerie silence descends as you finish reading your last superhero book of the week. Now it's time for something a little more sinister. Welcome to Bagged and Boarded: comic reviews of the sick, spooky, twisted and terrifying!
The Raven and the Red Death
The last time I reviewed a Richard Corben adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe it was the two-part Fall of the House of Usher. This time the comic luminary tackles "The Raven" and "The Masque of the Red Death." The two tales, told in lush detail, play out to their frightful conclusions in this wonderful one-shot.
Bag it or board it up? Corben draws people like a madman dreaming. Everyone is gnawing, gnashing, struggling and straining. It's wonderful, full-bodied, contorted, and perfectly suits stories from the master of the macabre,...

Kiss Me, Satan No. 2
The battle for good and evil continues in issue two of this break-neck action/horror comic from Victor Gischler and Juan Ferreyra. In New Orleans the leader of a werewolf pack puts a hit out on an old, blind witch and her followers. Now it's up to Barnabas Black, a fallen angel, to protect the witch and make good with God. He may be quick, but can he escape the chill grasp of the Bone Wrangler?
Bag it or board it up? What a vivid, frenetic comic. Sure, this may look...

Hell on Earth No. 112 This issue we get more background and story on the psychic named Fenix. She was once able to control fire, and may be able to still or may have lost that power forever. We see her struggle with the loss of her abilities while Johann Krauss makes plans and gets leads on this whole end of the world business. In the end, this is just another few small steps towards a long, wild story. Bag it or board it up? I love this series, but this issue is definitely "for fans only.

Afterlife With Archie No. 1 Comic fans haven't been scratching their heads this hard over an Archie series in a long time. The last time things got this weird in Riverdale was when Frank Castle, The Punisher, made an appearance. But it says it all in the title: Archie and the gang go up against zombies. When Jughead's loyal dog Hot Dog gets killed by a speeding car, Jughead gets help from Sabrina (the Teenage Witch) to resurrect him. But when Hot Dog comes back, he's definitely not the same dog... and it's one small step towards a whole new Riverdale.

Grindhouse: Doors Open at Midnight No. 1
In a world were comics strive to be a higher form of literature, one comic dares to be pulp. Grindhouse: Doors Open at Midnight unabashedly revels in the B-Movie, late night, junked up genre. Each mini-arc will feature stories fit for flicks from the seventies, and they're starting it off with "Bee Vixens from Mars." The story follows a small town sheriff investigating a string of murders linked to bees. Is it the honey everyone seems to be enjoying so much? And why is everyone so sexed up lately?...

When the big man upstairs kicked the devil and his other angels out of heaven, Barnabus was the only angel that wanted to go back. Now he spends his time in a werewolf-infested New Orleans keeping witches safe and running from the devil's personal assistants. When the kingpin of the werewolf mafia (yep, you heard me) finds out his unborn son won't be born a lycanthrope, he freaks out and attempts to kill all who know too much. In this issue they track down a man who suddenly turned very evil and ended up in prison. Now they have to bust him out, find out if the book turned him bad, and then kill him. Bag it or board it up? Itty Bitty Hellboy No. 1 Yes, you read that title correctly! Hellboy and the gang (Abe Sapien, Karl Kroenen, Johann, etc.) are all imagined as kids in this all-ages romp. In six short stories, the kids go swimming, fight over cardboard box forts, and fill Johann's suit up with chicken soup and crackers (because he has a cold and keeps sneezing himself out of his suit). These stories, told in a Peanuts style, loosely connect and follow each other, but it's really all about the fun and jokes. Bag it or board it up? Yes. Yes...

Morbius: The Living Vampire No. 8
Morbius has been tricked. He's been lied to, he's hurt people, and now Brownsville's about to pay for his mistakes. Or so it seems. A villain in a full face mask named The Rose has an Ultimate Nullifier, a sort of pocket device of great power, force, and destruction. He's just blown up part of Brownsville, and now Morbius has to overcome his own self-loathing and fight back.
Bag it or board it up? I'm from the generation, now not as young as we wish we were, that grew up watching the Spider-Man animated series.

He's a bloody mess (actually bloody, I'm not affecting his accent here) and his friend Lloyd is running out of time and options. Zatanna's not answering the phone (remember, this is Constantine from DC Comics, not Hellblazer by Dark Horse) and Constantine's metaphysical umbilical chord is about to snap. He’s clad in leather, capped with an awesome pilot’s cap and goggles, stalks around in the night, and shoots the shit out of bad guys. He’s a tough, rough and tumble hero and in this mini-series he’s on a quest to figure out who’s killing all the couriers of a gang in Chinatown. Bag it or board it up? Think 30 Days of Night and not Nosferatu. They also have huge, pointed tongues that they use to gouge their enemies and drink their blood.
