"Die Tochter des Mörders" or "The Killer's daughter" is a 90-minute television film from 5 years ago. A woman whose father committed suicide digs deeper into her family's history as she finds out if her father was really her mother's killer years ago or innocent as he claimed till his final days. The movie's director has some experience in the business, the writer not so much.

Sophie von Kessel plays the lead character and is in pretty much every scene of this one here. A big part of the movie is about hypnosis and it's all closely connected to finding the truth. A sub-plot includes the central characters struggles in her profession and worries about how these may be related to either burnout syndrome or even Alzheimer's as her father was suffering from it as well. So yeah, the whole thing is about memory recovery and I would have actually liked a bold approach where they do not manage to find out who did it (well.. they sort of don't) and the woman has to live with not knowing the truth, but knowing her father is innocent, especially as her hypnotist said knowing the killer will not be a solution to her struggles. Instead, they go for the standard movie solution of the killer attacking the woman in the final scenes of the film. All in all, I hoped for more. Not recommended.
