When Ted describes Barney's super-date, he mentions dinner at Le Tombeau des Culottes, or: "the fall of the panties".
During her interview with Anita, Robin starts off by saying, "but um", the phrase Ted's students listen for her to say in a drinking game in a previous episode.
Each character in the series has had their own musical number, except Lily (Alyson Hannigan). Ted (Josh Radnor) has his own musical number called "Super Date" in this episode, Of Course (2010). Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) has his own musical number, "Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit" in the episode Girls vs. Suits (2010). Robin (Cobie Smulders) has her own musical number (and many others) called "Lets Go To The Mall", starting in the episode Slap Bet (2006), and Marshall (Jason Segel) has his own musical number called "Marshall vs. the Machines". Lily doesn't have her own musical number, due to actress Alyson Hannigan's (Lily) dislike of singing.
When Robin interviews Anita (Jennifer Lopez), the cameraman asks if either woman would like a coffee. In the background, there's a yellow sign that says, "NO FOOD OR DRINK ON SET".
Ted's super-date is 17 dates in one. This show is the 17th episode of the season.
