In the late 90s/early 2000′s there was a distinct new trend in the horror genre: that of “urban horror”. A genre that brought urban black cinema, and all-black casts, together with the horror genre in much the same way as it did in the 70s during the blaxploitation era. Whilst films like Bones and Vampire in Brooklyn (despite being something of a critical failure) had iconic stars such as Snoop Dogg and Eddie Murphy respectively, it was smaller movies such as Rusty Cundieff’s Tales From the Hood that had all the ideas (if you haven’t seen Tales… you should really track it down).

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Full Moon Features. Director/writer: John Lechago. Cast: Trent Haaga, Victoria De Mare, Al Burke, Tai Chan Ngo, John Karyus, Aqueela Zoll, Jason R. Moore, Cecil Burroughs, Randy Mermell, Stephen F. Cardwell, Lisa Goodman, Ian Roberts, and Jessica Whitaker. Killjoy the killer clown returns for a third sequel in Killjoy Goes to Hell. Actor Trent Haaga returns as Killjoy and John Lechago pulls double duty as writer and director. Killjoy Goes to Hell blends campiness with sex appeal and a little bit of violence to create a visually stunning film. Very funny, this latest edition to the series is a truly enjoyable time. This title directly follows the events of the previous film, Killjoy 3. In the previous film, four college students were harassed by an insane demon. Unfortunately for Killjoy, one of his non-studious victims, Sandie (Jessica Whitaker), survived.

Killjoy 3 must have been a modest hit for Full Moon despite the near decade long lay-off between sequels. You won’t have to wait nearly ten more years for the next installment since Killjoy Goes to Hell is about to begin filming.
I didn’t see Killjoy 3 but have heard it was supposed to be pretty decent, certainly the best in the franchise, which, admittedly, is not saying much. Killjoy 3 writer/director John Lechago and Killjoy performer Trent Haaga are set to return for Killjoy Goes to Hell which Full Moon is promising will be “the most insane Killjoy movie of all time.”
Also returning from Killjoy 3 will be his killer clown posse (Punchy, Freakshow, and Batty Boop) played by Al Burke, Tai Chan Ngo, and Victoria De Mare.
No actual plot details have been announced yet but given the title I’m going to go...

Director: C. M. Downs.
Writer: Trent Haaga.
Cast: Aaron Champion, Amanda Culbertson, Ashlynn Yennie, Jason Curtis Miller, and John Redmond.
American Maniacs was previously titled Fetch and this film has had a recent release through Phase 4 Films on Video-on-demand (Comcast, Insight). This title was completed in 2010 and this is C. M. Downs first feature as director. From a script by Trent Haaga (Killjoy 3), American Maniacs blends all kinds of messed up characters together in what is essentially a heist or robbery thriller. However, the people eating dogs add in much horror while all the double-dealing creates some drama. Overall, this is "a dark film" as described by director C. M. Downs and this means that there is no light at the end of this dark cinematic tunnel.

This is a sequel to a 1999 film titled Killer Eye and if you have not seen the original, you get a second chance here. The rest of the filler is more of the erotic kind as Killer Eye: Halloween Haunt skips the story in favour of a soft core pornography weak plotline. Director/writer: John Lechago.

This reviewer knows John Lechago mostly from his excellent directing work on Killjoy 3. This was a film with a lot of imagination, putting characters in a hellish, but fun world. This film starred Victoria De Mare and Al Burke. Both of these actors also star in Lechago's latest called Bio-Slime. Previously called Contagion, Bio-Slime has been referred to as a blob movie: "a decent blob movie" (Monster). This reviewer would simply call it a B-movie, or a film likely to see a DVD release and made for under a million. Bio-Slime's budget was much lower than this with much of the finances dedicated to special effects artist Tom Devlin's creations. A few weeks back we brought you the mind-blowing trailer for the zero budget superhero spoof The Amazing Bulk. While that film still seeks distribution, the filmmaker's next b-movie bonanza already has a trailer. It's not an April Fools Day prank. It's Aliens vs. Avatars, folks!
Director Lewis Schoenbrun was kind enough to pass along a lengthy four-page summary of the Aliens vs. Avatars plot that I narrowed down a bit. A clique of college age friends vacationing in a cabin in the woods become prey for an alien monster called the "Necrosis" that is capable of invisibility and shape-shifting into the form of anything it has clawed or consumed. Ava (Cassie Fliegel), a tall extraterrestrial female with blue skin from a civilization nearly wiped out by the "Necrosis", arrives to kill the space monster once and for all. Director: Trent Haaga.
Writer: Adam Minarovich.
Director Trent Haaga (Killjoy 3) has a strong relationship with horror films as an actor. Now, he directs his first film with Chop, a comedic initial entry. Writer Adam Minarovich is also familiar with the genres of horror and comedy, with an appearance on the first season of The Walking Dead and a showing in Wiseguys vs. Zombies. Together, they have found a way to tickle viewer's funny bones in Chop, despite a screen full of blood and gore. Actor Will Keenan incites much of the laughter, as his character Lance digs his own grave with stories of accidental murder and mayhem. However, actors Timothy Muskatell and Ricardo Grey also bring some chuckles, as weirdly dressed characters.

So, welcome the bloodily violent marketing campaign for Chop, by watching the first mature rated trailer below!

Title: Killjoy 3 Directed by: John Lechago Starring: Trent Haaga, Victoria De Mare and Al Burke The appeal of horror movies to many fans is that they provide an adrenaline rush of terror from things people fear. With the help of the 1990 mini-series ‘It,’ based on the successful Stephen King novel, clowns have reached the top of the list of things people dread, based on their ease of getting joy of playing tricks on others. B-movie production company Full Moon Features hopes to further capitalize on people’s panic of clowns with its newest straight-to-dvd film ‘Killjoy 3.’ But with its light-hearted, comedic take on the insane killer clown genre made famous by [...]...

Each year horror sites, newspapers, magazines and other forms of media like to compile these silly "Best of," or "Worst of" lists. Here at 28Dla, we like to follow the crowds, but in a different way. This year's lists will consist of various categories including "Top Five Indie Horror Films," "Top Five Major Horror Release," "Top Five Foreign Horror," "Worst Horror Films of 2010," and "Most Anticipated Horror Films of 2011." These lists will be a little more focused. So, let us start with this first list titled "Top Five Indie Horror Films."
Now, this is a year where close to fifty independent films were reviewed on this site. There was the pain of Danny Dyer's Basement from Revolver Entertainment to highlights like Die-Ner, Get It? and the over-the-top and disturbing Harpoon: Whale Watching Massacre. This list will give you the "Best of" in this competitive genre, as this reviewer has seen the gamut.

Full Moon Entertainment is the company behind such horror films as Puppet Master, Demonic Toys, Arcade, Shrunken Heads, Shadowzone, Evil Bong, Voodoo Academy, etc. This past year with the release of Puppet Master: Axis of Evil, Demonic Toys 2, and director John Lechago's Killjoy 3, Full Moon Entertainment has gotten back to what made them a success to begin with. With the recent announcement of Evil Bong 3-D, Full Moon Entertainment seems due for a resurrgence after years of struggling. So what does this all have to do with one Mr. John Lechago? Well you see, like Full Moon Entertainment, Mr. Lechago seems to have his career back on track like the company that he has worked for. Killjoy 3 cemented that Full Moon Entertainment is moving in the right direction and so it appears that Mr. Lechago is heading in the right direction as well. Killjoy 3 was...

The demonic clown, Killjoy, who takes murderous revenge on whomever his summoner wishes uses a group of college students as bait to lure in a college professor who summoned him, but didn't name an actual victim for him to kill.
Watching a film like Killjoy 3 viewers should admittedly know that they are not getting into a film on par with something like The Exorcist. It's just supposed to be a fun way to kill eighty minutes, to have some laughs and to enjoy a few cheap thrills. With that in mind, Killjoy 3 is easily the most successful entry in this franchise. With this, Puppet Master: Axis of Evil and Demonic Toys 2, which were all released this year, Full Moon Entertainment is on a definite comeback trail.

This week is the lightest in recent memory with only four (barely) notable horror releases. Synapse Films' 100th release, Robert Young’s classic Vampire Circus, will be gracing our screens and so will Dear Mr. Gacy, the adaptation of The Last Victim, the memoirs of Jason Moss, who corresponded with serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Read on to see what the other two are.
Vampire Circus (1972)
Directed by Robert Young
Starring David Prowse, Robert Tayman, Anthony Higgins, Thorley Walters
A little girl is brutally slain by a vampire in a tiny 19th century Austrian village. Seeking revenge, the townspeople invade the foreboding castle of Count Mitterhaus and kill him for the crime. As the Count falls, he curses the villagers and vows that their children will all die so that he may someday return to life. 15 years later, as the village is ravaged by the plague, a traveling circus...

If you haven't caught up on the year's best documentaries in time to fill out your top 10 list, three of them will be hitting DVD shelves this week, beginning with Josh Fox's Sundance award-winning "Gasland," an exploration of the "hydraulic fracturing" going on in own backyard, a type of drilling that has spread to 34 states in the U.S. and has left a host of reservoirs of toxic waste and frequent gas explosions along the way. For something less serious, but equally compelling, there is also Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg's "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work," which follows the...

Although I am, at times, overly critical of the horror genre, one of my favorite “scary” movies is Craig Ross Jr.’s 2000 impossibly enjoyable slasher “Killjoy”. Simply put, it’s the “Ice Cream Man” of killer clown movies. It’s one of those films that you’re afraid to admit that you like around people who has discerning taste in cinema, particularly those who think they’re above watching a cheesy horror flick. And while it might sound arrogant to say as much, you have to see the damned thing for yourself to really understand what I’m rambling about. However, if you’re curious to see what all the fuss is about, check out the trailer for the Charles Band-produced “Killjoy 3″, which looks to be the snazziest installment in the franchise thus far. Full Moo will release the sequel on digital video discs across the United States on December 14th.

Killjoy 3 Concept ArtThere is something disturbing about clowns turned murderous. Clowns are designed to entertain children, but when you give them sharp teeth and lines like: "your ass is mine!" all sorts of difficult emotions emerge. Killjoy the clown is central to the story of Killjoy 3, which was filmed in China (Dread) and now preparing to horrify North American audiences December 14th. Apparently there were two other films in this series and they were totally missed by this reviewer; however this second sequel is sure to keep you away from the circus for quite some time. Try to enjoy the trailer for this project, which is full of great one-liners from actor Trent Haaga!
The synopsis for Killjoy 3 is here:
"Four college students on spring break cross paths with the demon clown Killjoy. And Killjoy is not going it alone this time - he has raised three other demon clowns: Punchy,...

Charles Band's evil clown flick Killjoy came out in 2000. A sequel followed in 2002. I was under the impression that these films were not exactly warmly received, certainly not enough to warrant a third installment eight years later. However, if you are a fan and have been clamoring impatiently for more evil urban clown antics, then the arrival of the trailer for Killjoy 3 should make your day.
There's not only a trailer for Killjoy 3, but also a December 14th DVD release date has been announced. Full Moon Direct will even have Killjoy box sets available for Halloween.
John Lechago (Blood Gnome, Bioslime) handles the writing and directing duties on behalf of Charles Band for this Full Moon offering. The exact plot remains unknown other than the below summary from YouTube. What is known is that it was apparently filmed in China and Trent Haaga returns as the titular killer clown,...
