One of the biggest complaints about the MCU is its size and the number of projects it includes. For a while now, people have criticized the vast cinematic universe because you need to watch a lot of movies and shows to understand references or post-credit scenes in other projects.
This has been called homework since many casual fans don’t like having to watch Disney+ shows that tie into movies. For example, to understand ‘The Marvels,’ you needed to watch ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘WandaVision’ to know how Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan got their powers.
Now that James Gunn is creating his own cinematic universe known as the “Dcu,” fans are curious if they’ll need to do the same amount of catching up before each new project. Gunn clarified on Threads that while all projects will be connected in theory across animation, TV, movies, and video games, each one...

One of the most criticized aspects of the MCU is its sheer size and amount of projects that it, at this point, encompasses. For quite a while now the massive cinematic universe has been criticized because you have to watch tons of movies & shows to perhaps understand a reference or a post-credit scene of a seemingly unrelated project.
This was referred to as homework, since plenty of casual fans don’t appreciate watching Disney+ shows that wrap their stories up in a feature film, like was the case recently with ‘The Marvels,’ in which you had to watch ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘WandaVision’ to understand some aspects of the movie, including how Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan got their powers.
Since James Gunn is now also building his own cinematic universe, newly dubbed “Dcu” and since he recently made some comments on how all projects across animation, television, movies, and video games will be connected,...

Robert Downey Jr.’s biggest comeback was also the savior of Marvel Studios. The actor made his MCU debut with Iron Man and it was a hammer on the nail gaining widespread attention from the global audience. Downey’s Iron Man gave the studio an absolute boost propelling it to the road of success.

While the studio lacked faith in the movie and the actor, director Jon Favreau could somehow convince the producer to move forward with the narrative with Downey. Following the success of the movie, there was room for more sequels and Downey’s Iron Man movies came to be one of the most remarkable franchises in the MCU.

Superhero films have a knack for doing well when they blend with genres that suit them well. Be it the adventures of the Guardians of the Galaxy masquerading as a Space Opera or Captain America working his superhero magic in a political thriller, the genre seems to be fast-evolving into tropes and ideas that are commonplace enough to be classified as a setting rather than a genre.
Marvel Zombies
Marvel Studios has already announced Marvel Zombies is something that they are actively developing as an animated series. However, given that the multiverse is in play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel could bring back some of its biggest stars who have retired from the franchise after Avengers: Endgame, and allow them to take their respective characters for a brand new spin, especially after a concept trailer that has been making the rounds on the internet

We all remember Vision, right? He was created after Tony Stark almost doomed the world to be destroyed by a robot, then killed by Thanos and kind of, sort of brought back to life by his wife Wanda in "WandaVision," where he went through a whole identity crisis. He was everyone's favorite Marvel character for about five minutes when he said the whole "What is grief, if not love persevering" thing.
Well, now Vision is back, whether we want it or not. According to Variety, Marvel just ordered a Vision TV series for 2026, with Paul Bettany returning to star as the titular character. Additionally, "Star Trek: Picard" executive producer Terry Matalas will serve as a showrunner of the "Vision" show.

With the release of ‘Echo,’ the MCU underwent significant changes. It became the first TV-ma-rated show in the MCU and the inaugural series under the ‘Marvel Spotlight’ banner, emphasizing character-driven stories that don’t require prior knowledge of previous projects.
During the recent Disney Upfronts presentation, it was revealed that Marvel Studios has segmented its development into several divisions: Marvel Animation, Marvel Television, and Marvel Spotlight. This new strategy aims to simplify the MCU for new fans, making it easier to understand and engage with the universe.
We have long known that more Marvel Spotlight shows are in the works, such as ‘Marvel Zombies,’ which will also be TV-ma rated. There has been speculation that ‘Wonder Man’ could be released under the same banner.
This was recently confirmed by Variety in an interview with Brad Winderbaum. ‘Wonder Man’ will indeed be part of Marvel Spotlight. Since the character has not previously appeared in the MCU,...

Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel was only recently introduced to the MCU but she is already the star of her own standalone show and was a vital part of the ‘The Marvels.’ It seems that Ms. Marvel will be a massive part of the MCU going forward.
Kamala Khan will be one of the main characters of the upcoming ‘Marvel Zombies,’ she will also be a star of the ‘Young Avengers’ project, an initiative that she started back in ‘The Marvels.’
Now Daniel Richtman, popular leaker and scooper with a solid track record, published on his private Patreon that ‘Ms. Marvel’ might be getting a second season. The show hasn’t been approved yet and it’s currently being discussed, the decision is expected to be made soon according to the leaker.

One of the intriguing upcoming MCU projects is ‘Marvel Zombies.’ While details about the plot are scarce, it’s not expected to directly adapt the famous comic storyline. However, fans can anticipate plenty of gore and action. ‘Marvel Zombies’ serves as the first spinoff of the ‘What If…?’ animated TV Show, extending the universe introduced in the episode ‘What If… Zombies!?’
According to a popular leaker CanWeGetSomeToast, fans can anticipate Scarlet Witch not only appearing in the show but also being portrayed as the main villain. Zombie Scarlet Witch made an appearance in the finale of ‘What If..?’ Season 2, where Captain Carter and Kahhori had to defeat her along with other enemies to reach demonic Doctor Strange. The upcoming animated series is expected to delve deeper into Scarlet Witch’s character and explore her backstory, including how she became trapped by Doctor Strange.

The Marvel Zombies are coming to the MCU. The animated alternate timeline will see the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe facing a plaque that turns all metahumans into the walking dead. However, is Disney willing to go for gore and a mature rating?
Possibly! According to Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, horror fans may rest easy knowing that the blood and guts of the comics could be represented on Disney+.
While speaking with IGN, Winderbaum did not precisely confirm that the show would be intended for mature audiences, but he is pretty sure that Marvel Zombies isn’t going to fly with a TV-Y7(-Fv) or TV-14 rating:
“In terms of more mature animation, yeah, we’re making a Marvel Zombies show right now that is pretty intense that’s for sure a TV-ma show.“
The show has no official release date yet, but it is said to premiere this year.

Chris Evans’s portrayal of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was simply perfect and to the point. The thing about everyone’s favorite superhero is that he is the noblest of the most noble out there. The man is the literal personification of bravery, honor, loyalty, and honesty. Following the faceplant and failure of “The Marvels” last November—Marvel’s lowest-grossing film of all time and their first big bomb—pundits were seemingly writing an early epitaph for Marvel Studios. But three Marvel cycles later, the super-well-received “What If…?” season two in December, the much-better-than-anticipated reception to the live-action “Echo” series in January, and the glowing reviews of “X-Men ’97, things definitely appear to be on the upswing for Marvel.

In 2023, Marvel Studios faced challenges. The Multiverse Saga debut received a lukewarm response, and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ fell short of expectations. ‘Secret Invasion,’ a highly anticipated live-action series about Skrulls, received poor reviews despite loosely adapting a beloved comic storyline. The lone success was ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3,’ overshadowed by the disappointing performance of ‘The Marvels,’ Marvel Studios’ lowest-grossing film to date.
Acknowledging ‘The Marvels’ failure, Bob Iger admitted to its shortcomings, emphasizing a shift toward quality over quantity. Despite occasional announcements of new projects, ranging from street-level heroes to cosmic tales, most upcoming endeavors are animated.
This shift isn’t accidental. According to Daniel Richtman’s sources within Marvel Studios, the future will prioritize animated content, with live-action productions taking a back seat, focusing on more grounded narratives, and becoming less frequent.

Rumors of a ‘Blade’ franchise reboot and its integration into the MCU surfaced as early as 2016, following the studio’s reclamation of the character rights in 2011. Kevin Feige was among the first to acknowledge the potential for a project centered around the vampire slayer, whether in the form of a live-action TV series or a film.
Mahershala Ali’s interest in portraying Blade became evident when he approached the studio with a ready script. Despite the project being greenlit, it entered a prolonged development phase, spanning nine years. Details regarding the plot and production remained scarce, with recent speculation suggesting a rewrite, spearheaded by writer Michael Green.
Originally slated for a 2023 release, the movie faced numerous delays, pushing its debut to November 2025. Reports indicate that Ali nearly withdrew from the project due to the extensive effort required to properly bring the iconic character into the MCU fold.

The rumors that ‘Blade’ franchise will be rebooted and the titular vampire slayer will be introduced to the MCU started back in 2016. Despite the studio regaining rights to the character in 2011, Feige was the first one to point out that there is some interest in developing a project around him, be it a live-action TV series or a movie.
Then we learned that Mahershala Ali approached the studio, he wanted to play Blade and he had the script ready. The project was greenlit but this is when the development hell began and for the last 9 years little is known about the plot of the movie and its details, however recent rumors point in the direction of it being rewritten once again, with Michael Green hired as a writer.

Over the span of ten years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) meticulously built up the Infinity Saga, culminating in the emergence of the formidable Thanos. Introduced in the post-credit scene of ‘The Avengers’ in 2012, Thanos evolved into the central antagonist across various films, notably in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ where Josh Brolin delivered a remarkable performance. Despite a fitting conclusion, Brolin’s character resurfaced in alternate versions across different projects, meeting his demise each time.

A “Black Panther” animated series is in the works at Marvel Studios.
Titled “Eyes of Wakanda,” the new project was teased on Monday night by Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum at an event to promote the second season of the studio’s inaugural animated series, “What If…?”.
“Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story,” reads the official logline, per Marvel. The studio has been developing multiple series set in Wakanda with “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, and a source tells Variety Coogler will also be involved in the forthcoming animated project. Coogler is currently under a multi-year overall TV deal with the Walt Disney Company through his Proximity Media banner.

Back in 2005, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman put a superhero twist on the idea of zombie outbreaks with the five issue limited series Marvel Zombies. That series became incredibly popular and has gotten a ton of sequels and spin-offs over the years. There was a nod to it in one of the illusions on display in Spider-Man: Far from Home, and then the Marvel Zombies concept got an entire episode of Marvel’s animated Disney+ series What If…? devoted to it. That episode is leading to a full Marvel Zombies animated series, which will be rated TV-ma and is set to reach Disney+ sometime in the near future. During an interview with The Direct, Iman Vellani revealed that not only does she vocally reprise the role of her Ms. Marvel and The Marvels character Kamala Khan in Marvel Zombies, but her character also happens to be “kind of the...

The Marvels star Iman Vellani commented on her time recording as Kamala Khan for the upcoming animated series Marvel Zombies.
The spinoff of What If…?’s fifth episode was first announced back in November 2021. The project will not only be one of Marvel Studios' first few Ma-tv/R-Rated projects, but it’ll also debut with a notably low episode count: four episodes for its first season.
The show promises to expand upon what audiences saw in What If…? with many classic and new heroes joining the mix. This will include zombified versions of Captain America, Carol Danvers, Ikaris, and the Abomination.

The first Marvel / Disney+ series WandaVision is getting a collector’s edition Blu-ray release tomorrow (you can order a copy Here) – and apparently a featurette that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the spin-off / follow-up Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (which was formerly known as Agatha: House of Harkness and then Agatha: Coven of Chaos) is included in the extras! Agatha isn’t expected to start streaming on the Disney+ service until the early fall of 2024 – possibly on September 19, 2024 – so this featurette gets the marketing started quite early.
Some fans have already received their WandaVision Blu-rays and decided to share the featurette on X:

As I drag the latest massive box (or boxes) of Zombicide through my door, I often wonder whether it will simply be more or the same. The last time out, when I reviewed Zombicide: Undead or Alive, I was pleasantly surprised by new mechanics and features. However, the newest Zombicide game – Marvel Zombies: X-Men Resistance offers something else entirely. Gone is the endless list of unknown characters, and in their place, an impressive roster of X-Men heroes that almost anyone would recognise.
Typically, Zombicide has up to six characters working their way through zombie infested streets and buildings, collecting powerful items and dispatching the undead in their hundreds. This series is a classic dungeon crawler, and objectives might include collecting a few things, opening some doors, maybe even escorting someone from to A to B, but no matter what, the focus is on action above all else.

As shared by the folks at ComicBookMovie.com, the first episode of Agatha: Darkhold Diaries has the following synopsis, which was apparently found in a U.S. Copyright Office listing: In the first episode, we see Agatha finally break out of a spell she has been trapped in. She can’t wait to go back to her old murderous ways only to find that she is powerless. The only way forward for her is to embark on a perilous quest to get her powers back with the help of an unlikely friend or two.

Following the successful crowdfunding for the "Star Wars Rebels" ship the Ghost, Hasbro's crowdfunding initiative HasLab is digging back into Marvel Comics territory for their latest collectible effort. Even though the most recent Marvel Legends HasLab project failed to garner enough funds for fans to get their hands on the Engine of Vengeance for the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider, Hasbro is back with another comic book-inspired figure, and it's a big one.

Following the successful funding of the ginormous action figures for the Sentinel robot and Galactus, HasLab has collected enough Pym Particles to give us the larger-than-life Avenger known as Giant-Man.

Well, the newest look at "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" certainly has some very interesting footage for fans to dissect. Seriously, those shots of all the Spidersonas together in what appears to be some sort of middle ground between multiverses look incredible, and we are certain that the actual animation to bring these characters to life will be stunning.
This multiverse middle ground doesn't just have the potential to look cool. "Into the Spider-Verse" proved that it was possible to travel between dimensions, with a couple of previously-obscure characters ushering in this important, multi-franchise-spanning plot point. With the waters now properly tested, it looks like "Across the Spider-Verse" will be taking advantage of all the creative opportunities involved in a multiverse concept, including just how many crazy characters can get their big-screen debut.
We have already known some of the "new" Spidersonas that will be appearing in the film -- Jessica Drew,...

Marvel isn't necessarily a name you associate with horror. Sure, the recently-released "Werewolf By Night" on Disney+ and various comic specials like "Marvel Zombies" have dabbled in the genre. However, none of these are particularly scary. It's likely because the brand's bigwigs want to ensure that a specific image is being presented of its vast library of stories and heroes, which isn't unreasonable.
But maybe it's because they allowed that image to be played with once, only to realize that perhaps those responsible for playing around with it took things a bit too far. Maybe you can trace back the squeaky clean nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to 2002's "Maximum Carnage," a haunted maze attraction at Universal Orlando Resort's Halloween Horror Nights, which was held at the then-brand-new Islands of Adventure theme park. If that rings a bell for you, it's probably because the attraction shares the name...

This review contains She-Hulk episode 2 spoilers
Our She-Hulk: Attorney at Law reviews will be adopting a different format than the one we use for MCU shows with longer episodes; more of a breakdown that we hope will still satisfy regular readers but also help those less familiar with the MCU keep up.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at episode two, “Superhuman Law”.
The Case: What Happened?
In the aftermath of Jennifer Walters’ rather literal court battle with Titania in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode one, the media label her “She-Hulk”, a nickname she is very much not fond of. But as Bruce Banner warned her, these superhero names have a way of sticking around.

Robert Kirkman is one of the people who helped bring us the modern age of zombies in pop culture with "The Walking Dead," first as a best-selling comic and then as a series of hit shows on AMC. But Kirkman also touched the Marvel Comics universe with his take on the undead with "Marvel Zombies," a beloved storyline that takes place in an alternate reality and, as the name implies, shows us the heroes and villains of Marvel as zombies. Now, following the success of the "What If...?" season 1 episode that tackled the material, we're getting a full-on "Marvel Zombies'' animated series on...

Nearly 30 years after “X-Men: The Animated Series” debuted, many of the beloved characters are returning for Marvel Studios’ upcoming show “X-Men ’97,” coming to Disney+ in fall 2023 with a second season already confirmed.
“X-Men ’97” will continue the story of the original “Animated Series,” which ran from 1992 to 1997 on Fox Kids Network. “X-Men: The Animated Series” helped usher in the popularity of the mutant superheroes before Fox made the first live-action take on the team in 2000.
The new series will include Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Storm, Jubilee and Cyclops. Magneto, now with long hair and a purple suit, will lead the X-Men. The animation, revealed at Comic Con on Friday, stays true to the original animated series, but looks more modern, updated and sleek.
Cable, Bishop, Forge, Morph and Nightcrawler will also join the X-Men onscreen. Battling them will be the (non-“Stranger Things”) Hellfire Club with Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw,...

“M.O.D.O.K,” the gleefully bizarre Marvel animated series that debuted on Hulu last May, won’t be returning for a sophomore season, TheWrap has learned.
While this might seem like a surprise to some that the show is coming to a close after only 10 episodes, it was more or less a foregone conclusion. “M.O.D.O.K” was ordered as part of a suite of animated shows, by former Marvel Television executive Jeph Loeb. These shows, which also included “Hit Monkey,” “Howard the Duck” and “Tigra and Dazzler,” were meant to eventually come together for a miniseries called “The Offenders.” (This echoed the strategy Loeb employed with the Netflix series like “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones.” Those combined for a miniseries called “The Defenders.”)

Spider-Man reaches the end of a trilogy, which in its way now feels like the culmination of a trilogy of Spider-Man sagas. In what we can best describe as the end of the “Son of Stark” era of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, our hero goes big. Thanks to an ill-advised team-up with a wizard, heroes and villains from other continuities and past movie franchises show up, including a bizarre cameo from a drunken wild card trying to make sense of this madness.
Here are the many, many references and easter eggs sprinkled throughout Peter’s crazy, magical adventure into the multiverse, which leaves him with No Way Home.
