A Big Disappointment
I was really disappointed by this episode, and since it was the first of the four that make up this mini-series it left me with an attitude for the remaining episodes. I have come to be suspicious of things put out by BBC. The BBC has been losing it's ability to present and objective look at almost anything for the last twenty years. And it been accelerating since 9/11. About a quarter of the way into this episode they start driving home the importance of Islam in general, and muslims in particular were to the early understanding of light. And while this is an historical fact. The emphasis on the religion of these scientists and not on where they come from is unmistakable as propaganda being turned out by the BBC. Further they go on to demonize the Christians. We all know the Crusades were a horrible period in history. And there is plenty of blame to go around As an American it is very difficult for me to watch something that while trying to educate is also trying to convince me that the muslims were just poor scientists put upon by savage Christians. We go through the whole episode only knowing the religion of these muslims. Why were they only known by religion when all other non- muslims mentioned are identified by where they come from. More BBC revisionism. This particular episode is garbage.
