“What is horror?” That was the question asked by Mary Lambert, the special guest speaker and Inspiration Award recipient of the annual Viscera Film Festival. Viscera is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about the roles and rising opportunities for women in the film industry. Set on the belief that the only ones responsible for female success are themselves, the organization essentially helps women help each other by opening doors and promoting the creativity of competent female filmmakers. This year the ladies of Viscera, Stacy “Pippi” Hammon, Heidi Honeycutt and founder Shannon Lark, kicked off the festival with a sneak peak screening of Danielle Harris’ directorial debut Among Friends. The screening was followed by a red carpet ceremony, a collection of trailers for upcoming, female-driven films and a presentation of thirteen short films written, directed and produced by women. After the screenings, a Q&A was conducted with the festival award winners,...

Bloodtraffick Short Film Trailer. Jennifer Thym‘s Bloodtraffick (2011) short film trailer stars Grace Huang and Kirt Kishita. Bloodtraffick‘s plot synopsis: “In a world torn by a war between vampires and angels, a human vigilante on the hunt for her missing sisters is lured into the den of a vampire.”
This reminds me of Blade: The Series, which had incredibly bloddy fight scenes for a television show. From the looks of this short film teaser trailer, this may contain similar fight scenes…hopefully. There also seems like there is some of the posing from Versus mixed in here as well.
More about Bloodtraffick:
Jennifer Thym, director of the acclaimed webseries Lumina is back with a new fantasy action film called Bloodtraffick.

“Lumina” director Jennifer Thym returns with the action/vampire thriller “Bloodtraffick”, a 12-minute short film that, if all goes well, Thym is hoping will translate into a feature-length film. But if that doesn’t happen, it’s supposed to also work as a standalone story. The short is set to make its premiere at the Gen Con Indy Film Festival on August 5, 2011, so keep an eye out for it if you’re attending or in the neighborhood. Who knows, this may end up being a prequel to something bigger as Thym and company envisioned. These stills of lead actress Grace Huang certainly looks tantalizing enough, but maybe it’s just that whole mad crush on cute girls with guns getting the best of me again. Set in a world torn apart by a war between vampires and angels, the short pits a human vigilante Ava (Grace Huang, soon to be...

Jennifer Thym's Hong Kong action short Bloodtraffick is set in a world torn by a war between vampires and angels.
Bloodtraffick features the human vigilante Ava, played by Grace Huang, (who stars in the upcoming Eli Roth-produced action film The Man With The Irson Fists), pitted against the vampire Finn, played by Kirt Kishita.
Jennifer Thym, director of the Hong Kong-based fantasy series Lumina, wanted to do this project because she's a lifelong fan of roleplaying and video games, and apparently also fantasy, action, and gritty Hong Kong flicks. The official description reads, "In a world torn by a war between vampires and angels, a human vigilante on the hunt for her missing sisters is lured into the den of a vampire."
It looks amazing. Check out these gorgous stills from the film and get an impression for how polished, awesome, and beautiful it is. I wish we...

Writer and director Jennifer Thym who did the Lumina web series returns with her first featured, and I have to say based on the stills, it looks pretty good. Still no trailer and not much info available but we're looking into it.
A sexy Asian female vigilante and a has-been American cop stand at the crux of a holy war between angels and vampires.
Gallery after the break.
Head to Quiet Earth to see the stills.

The nominees for the 2010 Streamys were announced today. The Streamys celebrate online television programming and this year they have a fantastic line up of nominees. Last year was the Streamys debut year and the winners included high profile shows such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the exceptional Battlestar Galactica web series The Face of the Enemy.
This year there is even more competition with some really interesting content now being released on the web rather than through more traditional media routes. Two of my favourites from this year’s nominee list are the excellent Interview Project which is presented by davidlynch.com and the slightly flawed but thoroughly enjoyable Angel of Death, created by Ed Brubaker and starring Zoe Bell, which also received a DVD release last year.
The awards ceremony takes place on April 11th 2010 and the full list of nominees is listed below with handy links...
