Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched (or at least plan to watch) all six episodes of “Behind Her Eyes,” now streaming on Netflix.
Pressing play on the first episode of “Behind Her Eyes,” all I knew was that there was going to be a capital-t Twist that may or may not cause me to lose what’s left of my mind. In fact, the ending of the Sarah Pinborough novel that the Netflix series is based on was originally marketed to readers with ominous subway ads warning people “Don’T Trust This Book” and the performatively astonished hashtag, “#WTFThatEnding.” Short of Googling it, though, I could never have guessed just how ridiculous That Ending was until I got to see it with my own two bewildered eyes.

Behind Her Eyes, a bestselling thriller written by Sarah Pinborough, was marketed with its own hashtag, #WTFThatEnding, that can be interpreted two ways: as a lure convincing potential readers that they’ll be delighted by an unexpected conclusion, or as a warning that they’ll want to hurl the book across the room upon finishing. I have not read Pinborough’s novel, and only learned of the hashtag after watching all six episodes of the new Netflix limited series version of Behind Her Eyes. And I’m sorry to report...

*full disclosure: an online screening of this film was provided by Osiris Entertainment. Director/writer: Christian Grillo. Cast: Christopher Mann, Laura L. Cottrel, Doug Bradley, Ernie Hudson and K.J. Linhein. Osiris Entertainment is one of this film fan's favourite distributors. They are based in Chatsworth, California and they tend to pick indie productions for their markets. Some of their films have been excellent such as: Ashes, Monsters in the Woods and Night Drive. But, every so often they will back a dismal project like Behind Your Eyes. Deer Crossing falls in this second less thrilling category. Deer Crossing is an indie film production that was likely made for under 15K. The film notably stars: Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), Ernie Hudson (The Crow) and Christopher Mann. These actors are under utilized in a film that has no sense of pacing. There is no tension here, in what is supposed to be a thriller.

Director: Clint Lien.
Writer: Daniel Fanaberia.
Cast: Frida Farrell, Tom Sandoval and Daniel Fanaberia.
The Hollywood mediocrity machine seems to be influencing indie films as well. This is the case with Behind Your Eyes, an average indie thriller. Cliches abound. This titled was released on DVD by Osiris Entertainment March 20th and Behind Your Eyes has won the "Special Jury Prize" at the Las Vegas film Festival and "Best Feature" at the Canadian International Film Festival. However, the film failed to impress one reviewer here at 28Dla. Clint Lien's thriller struggles through the first thirty minutes. Mystery cannot really be created from lack of dialogue. Only in the finale does the picture show any legs; but, by this time, an opportunity to develop characters or to move the plot forward has been lost.

It is my pleasure, and honor to tell you… the Wamg family… that Behind Your Eyes has been officially selected to be featured at the 2011 Canada International Film Festival. Not only is is an official selection, but this will be the first public screening of the film.
You may be asking yourself why it is my pleasure to share this with you. Well, two of the films stars, who have worked very hard on this project happen to be friends of mine. This is not a Melissa “bragging” moment. Instead, this is a “Melissa is very proud of Tom Sandoval and Kristen Doute for all of your hard work, and I want to shout it from the rooftops… or this internet page!” kind of post.

This writer got a sneak peek during a private screening held earlier this week at the ‘W’ Hotel in Hollywood, CA, of director Clint Lien's psycho-thriller Behind Your Eyes, and while this won't be a full-fledged review as the film is in the final stages of color correction and editing, we have been covering the production from the beginning (see our set report from this past January here) so here’s a brief tease.
Vesuvio Entertainment's Behind Your Eyes is full of red herrings, and while donning the outfit of a slasher film, it reveals itself by minute twenty-one to be something much more. Writer and actor Daniel Fanaberia delivers not only a compelling script but also a commanding performance, and not unlike the lead in last year's The Collector (actor Josh Stewart), he paints a multi-layered cinematic canvas of a complicated man battling his own demons, who finds...

Vesuvio Entertainment CEO Greg Sims got in touch with Dread from the Cannes Film Market last night, where he unveiled and commenced foreign sales for his psycho-thriller feature Behind Your Eyes (see our exclusive set visit to that production from this last February here).
Starring Swedish actress Frida (Contract Killers) Farrell, Tom (Puppet Master: Axis of Evil) Sandoval, and Daniel Fanaberia (pictured below at Cannes with Sims), Behind Your Eyes marks Vesuvio’s first collaboration with director Clint Lien and Fanaberia, who also scripted the flick, and stands as the Century City, CA-based company’s first feature in a multi-picture slate.
“I would say that this is the best of a contemporary twist on Psycho,” Sims tells us of Behind Your Eyes. “It’s about people not being who you think they are, and it’s about an idyllic couple that go away to meet the parents, and everybody turns...

It’s January 15, 2010, when this scribe arrives to the snowy set of executive producer Greg. H Sims’ psycho-thriller Behind Your Eyes. Shooting for 14 days on location in Lake Arrowhead, CA (with additional days in and around the nearby environs of Los Angeles) and written by Daniel Fanaberia, the flick revolves around ‘A couple. A kidnapping. A secret. A weekend to meet the parents becomes a weekend of trying to stay alive for perfect Steven and Erika’ (according to the production’s PR).
The film stars Tom (Puppetmaster: Axis of Evil) Sandoval and Swedish actress Frida Farrell as the unlucky duo. Writer Fanaberia and actors Remy O’Neil, Lisa R. Segal, and Arthur Roberts round out the film’s cast.
