- Ryan: Ten years ago back in '96, I moved here to LA to find my way in the blossoming karaoke scene. I heard it was the best in the country, so I thought I'd test my luck.
- Jen DeArtola: The first time I saw Ryan, I was absolutely floored. It's not his voice that's so amazing, it's his stage presence.
- Andy Richard: Well, my brother Ryan had been into the whole singing and karaoke thing for a really long time. I guess it was really the only thing he was good at.
- Ryan: Within three months, I was on top. I was winning every single contest. First place, every single time. I was bringing home check, after check, after check. Life was good.
- Jeremy: Subtlety was not his gift. The kind of money he was making, and the way he was spending it. He definitely brought some attention to himself.
- Andy Richard: We asked him to come home, but he wouldn't come home. Even though he was homeless, he still thought he could make it.
- Ryan: I'm the first person to take karaoke to a professional level, and I think people just can't accept that.
