• Leah Franklin-Dupont : Ladies, welcome to Bid Week, where our perspectives have one final opportunity to show us why they're deserving of our storied and exclusive membership at our "Pastry and Pedigree" charity event tomorrow. Each perspective will bring something sweet to share at the event. Now, know that your desserts will be judged on more than just flavor, but flavor is very important. We are looking for family recipes that tell the story of our perspective's heritage and pride and lineage. You will each tell your story during a Q&A, and your answers will factor into the voting at the end of the event, where only five women will be awarded the bid to become a part of the Graceties. • Leah Franklin-Dupont : Okay, so, let's go ahead and break into our event committees, shall we? I put Olivia on snack duty.

  Angela Vaughn : It must be fun to be President sometimes.

  Leah Franklin-Dupont : Oh, you have no idea. And at least we don't have to worry about her getting in the way of your bid now that I've censured her.

  Angela Vaughn : You sure about that?

  Leah Franklin-Dupont : Oh, I heard about how you impressed Giselle Hilgard.

  Angela Vaughn : Oh, yeah.

  Leah Franklin-Dupont : She told me. You're not only on track to get a bid, Angela You're on track to get an investor. And you're so close, and everything that you want for your business, it can be yours as long as you focus.

• Leah Franklin-Dupont : It seems as if your mother was just as driven to succeed for you. I mean, for her to have made it to Graceties "Hell Week" in the Alpha Chapter, she must have been on track to launch herself into success.

• Raymond Dupont : People are reacting to me as if I should feel torn up that my oldest friend died, but I don't. I can actually breathe now. I feel guilty about that.

  Leah Franklin-Dupont : Babe, your feelings are valid, and you shouldn't feel guilty about having any of them.

  Raymond Dupont : Well, truth is, he wouldn't even allow me my guilt. Even in death, Jack is still a problem. Tyrique was sent to retrieve the shares transfer from Jack to Teddy. For some reason, Tyrique is still loyal to Teddy, and I-I wish I could warn him. I gotta get out ahead of your father. 'Cause that man will hurt anyone in his path just to protect his own interest.

  Leah Franklin-Dupont : You know, I am not blind to what my father's done. I mean, even Angela has gone back to not trusting him. But I can't just stop trusting him. I mean, it's me. He wouldn't hurt his family. He wouldn't hurt you?

  Raymond Dupont : Really? You might want to ask your mother about that, babe.

• Leah Franklin-Dupont : I asked him about the night your mother was arrested.

  Angela Vaughn : What? W-What did he say?

  Leah Franklin-Dupont : Um, he said that he paid for the best lawyer in Boston. So there's no logic to him setting her up for possession and intent to distribute. I mean, why would he have her arrested?

  Angela Vaughn : Well, um, she was pregnant with me, his illegitimate child. To stop her from going to the press or destroy her reputation, ruin her credibility, shut down any hope of a paternity suit or child support

  Leah Franklin-Dupont : No, that that just seems really extreme. Okay, look sometimes, to feel free from the past, we have to face a cost of an uncomfortable history. I mean, the only reason I even took the risk of asking this was to settle the past, you know? To bring our family together, to move our family forward.

  Angela Vaughn : There's no moving forward if we're not stepping out on the good foot. That means truth, Leah. My mother was hurt.

  Leah Franklin-Dupont : So was mine, in case you forgot. I mean, and she's still hurting. Okay, let's just let's just leave this alone for now, okay?

  Angela Vaughn : Leah. Until I find out exactly what happened to Mama Eve, I am looking under every rock. I will turn this island over and shake it out if I have to.
