"Frank Whyte" has been a long-used alter-ego of writer/producer/star Franklin Correa.
Franklin Correa gained several pounds for the role.
The character Donny was originally written as "Darnell," however the name was changed after actor Aron Brisken was cast. His full name appears in a newspaper as "Donald Jacobs," a name chosen by writer/director/producer Brian Jude because he liked the name Jacob and even planned on using the name for his first-born son. Little did he realize at the time of that decision that his son was conceived during pre-production, and his wife gave birth to a son, which they did, in fact, name Jacob.
Despite the city of Elizabeth, New Jersey's assertion that a shooting permit was not required to shoot exteriors on private property, local police shut down production following the production of a death scene, after local residents believed actor Chiko Mendez was actually shot and killed in the front courtyard of an apartment building and called 911. A later scene scheduled to be shot behind the building was moved to the basement, which, much to the pleasure of the filmmakers, turned out to be a much better location for the scene.
The film was shot in two days - June 13 (exteriors) and June 26 (interiors), 2004.
