Usually here at Big Daddy Horror Reviews, we stick mainly to the business of spotlighting horror film features, both short and feature length. However, whenever we think a worthwhile endeavor comes along, we just got to spotlight it. From the creative mind of micro budget horror filmmaker Chris Lamartina (President's Day) comes The Lost Trailer Park: Never Coming Attractions.
So what is "Lost Trailer Park: Never Coming Attractions"?
Chris Lamartina It's the pet project of Chris Lamartina and writer Jimmy George (frequent co-writer and co-producer). Once a month, Chris Lamartina will be producing a trailer (movie preview) for a non-existent feature-length movie. Most of the time for campy tongue-in-cheek horror flicks, but not always. If it falls into the category of exploitation or grind house flicks, then it's definitely fair game.
The trailers are just that, exercises in short form content. Chris Lamartina takes the best parts of a proposed...

Indie horror is alive and well and 2010 proved just that. President's Day from director Chris Lamartina had a unique premise involving a serial killer dressed in an Abe Lincoln costume killing the particpants of a high school presidential election. Adam Green stepped up and did his best work to date with Frozen. Jen and Slyvia Soska turned in the one of a kind Dead Hooker in a Trunk. Joshua Grannell balanced nostalgia with a very modern story of a theater owner killing off patrons while filming it to display the deaths as the latest entries in a short film series. Outside of 2010, indie horror has brought as the Saw series, Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project. With Kenneyville, Brooks Hunter tells the story a young woman (Kelsey Olu) who goes missing. Two private detectives are hired to find her. With undercover aliases, Charlie (Dany Gehshan) and Kelly (Vanessa Broze...

"When they ran for student council... they didn't know... they'd be running for their lives!"
From no budget indie horror director Chris Lamartina (Book of Lore) and starring destined to be cult icon Shawn C. Phillips comes President's Day. The critically acclaimed slasher deals with a high school election that turns deadly when a homicidal maniac dressed like Abe Lincoln starts killing off candidates.
According to people close to the film's distribution, President's Day is heading for a early to mid July release on both the DVD and Blu-Ray formats with a director's commentary. How patriotic it would be to see some good old slashings and beheadings at the hands of one Mr. Abe Lincolin in time for the fourth of July!
President's Day, which played at various film festivals & in Maryland at various theaters was recently deemed one of the top ten horror films of 2010 by this very site.

The horror genre is known for being the genre in which plenty of up and coming talents have been discovered. Why don't we take a look: Margot Kidder and Bob Clark of Black Christmas, Cory Monteith in Killer Bash, Shannon Elizabeth in Jack Frost, Brandon Fehr in Final Destination, and so on and so on.
With this first annual edition, I wanted to bring some attention to slightly unknown talent that's been making waves or has the potential to do so in the horror community. Anybody in this talented lineup has the potential to become a breakthrough star in my opinion and I wanted to highlight that. I fully believe in the talent of each person that's here on this list. These are the ones you might not have heard of yet, but you should be keeping an eye out on them......

Michael Hoffman Jr. and wife Meghan Jones were looking to reinvent the classic "The Slumber Party Massacre" or "Sorority House Massacre" sub-genre of films. Well, looking at the behind the scenes pics from the film, so far to date, they have come up with at least one new cliche or invention for the horror genre-
The Shawn C. Phillips death scene
Shawn C. Horror was at its peak from 1973 - 1988 so much so that there was TV series based off of horror films, toys, shirts and merchandising all connected to the various films that came out around this time. So it goes without saying, that some of the most active genre fans out there are somewhere in the mid 20 to early 30's age bracket since they grew up watching the films released during this era which included the A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, The Exorcist, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Poltergeist, The Amityville Horror, An American Werewolf in London, Hellraiser, Dawn of the Dead, etc.
Now go back and think to what made you fall in love with the genre to begin with. Was it the sense of dread of a sluggishly paced zombie sneaking upon you to eat your brains? Was it the grindhouse kind of flavor that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre embodied?...

I recently saw a post on another website (http://evilontwolegs.com/) mentioning the various reasons as to why they prefer not going to the theater for the latest horror film. Reading over it, his reasons were obvious ones that I can fully understand would prevent one from heading out to the local multiplex. So in response, I wanted to state my reasons, as a loyal horror fan, for still heading out to see almost every horror movie that comes my way via the theater wreather that is Paranormal Activity 2 to Case 39 or even, dare I say it, My Soul To Take.
I guess I bleed horror films. I believe in supporting our fellow horror film makers. Imagine if Jen & Slyvia Soska (Dead Hooker In A Trunk) or Chris Lamartina (President's Day) or Brandon Slagle (Vivid) got carte blanche to make a big budget horror film. This could be...

"Girls Gone Dead"
The film which is set to start filming on November 13 is genre director Michael Hoffman Jr.'s (Spring Break Massacre) most ambitious undertaking with a five week shooting schedule and a budget of roughly around $500,000. Helping him with this endeavor is Aaron Wells (Rock and a Hard Place: Another Night at the Agora) who will share co-directing credit and Ryan Dee who is on board as the film's producer.
Girls Gone Dead features a cast including hottie Caley Hayes (who ironically played the hottie in "Sex Drive"), sizzling Penthouse Pet Ryan Keely (seen on this year's MTV movie awards in a fake commercial for "Devil" alongside M. Night Shyamalan) internet sensation Shawn C. Phillips (President's Day) and the hardest working man in indie horror,...

Chris Lamartina, the director behind the destined to be cult classic that is President's Day (due out on DVD in early spring of 2011 complete with audio commentary), has just unleashed the trailer to what appears to be another cult classic in the making - Witch's Brew. Shawn C. Phillips, also from President's Day and Sasquatch Attack (aka Attack of the Sasquatch), co-stars. This was Maryland based filmmaker Chris Lamartina's highest budgeted film to date at around $13,000 (it's hard to believe, but President's Day was made for around $5000) and it also promises to have a body count that exceeds all of his films (Book of Lore, Grave Mistakes, Dead Teenagers, President's Day, Faces of Schlock [segment director]) combined.
Witch's Brew deals with two micro-brewers who screw over the town witch. She curses their latest batch of beer. From that point on, everyone who drinks it suffers a gruesome ironic death.

Miguel Rodriguez talks about his Horrible Imaginings, Horrible Imaginings film festival that is.
I have been following Monster Island Resort podcast from the beginning. It is hosted by self-proclaimed, horror enthusiast Miguel Rodriguez. The podcast itself is great, well done and very smart. It is all across the board as far as horror goes, but don't worry, he is a zombie fan though and though. Miguel Rodriguez seems to not be complacent with just being a podcaster though, he has decided to host his very own movie festival called Horrible Imaginings. I have to say that I am impressed, so I talked to Miguel Rodriguez about his new endeavor and this is what he had to say,
Haz: Tell us a little about yourself, what was your drive to start the Horrible Imaginings film festival in San Diego? I'm sure you must be excited.

Nicolette Le Faye is a Maryland based actress whose out to make a name for herself in the indie horror film scene while staying true to her Maryland roots and doing things her way, even if isn't the most popular choice. She stole scenes in Chris Lamartina's President's Day, a gory fun little film in which a killer in an Abraham Lincoln costume kills off those running for student body president. Nicolette was so convincing as the school bi*ch, you would think she was one in real life! She is also featured in The Chainsaw Sally Show directed by Jimmyo Burril and co-starring the legendary Debbie Rochon. We hope that Nicolette continues to take risks, push boundaries and never confirms to someone else's vision of what they think she should be. We had the chance to ask her a few questions about her work. Here is what Nicolette Le Faye had to say.

Shawn C. Phillips is one of the hardest working indie actors out there racking up a number of film credits in the past few years. Comparsions to another hard working indie actor, Joel D. Wynkoop are unavoidable due to how frequently he works within the horror genre. You can catch Shawn in President's Day which is due for release on DVD/Blu-Ray in early 2011 and Assault of the Sasquatch which comes out in Oct. In the meantime, check out what Shawn had to say about his career.
So who is Shawn C. Phillips and what are you all about?
Well I'm 24 years old who is an avid movie collector and Actor. Ive been collecting films all my life and started acting in feature films in 2008. I also have a following on the YouTube channel Coolduder where I do DVD updates which are reviews of what films I have bought as...

America's 16th president Abraham Lincoln goes on the rampage in the independent horror film President's Day.
The film, which had an exclusive screening in Morgantown, West Virginia, last Friday, is described as "a gruesome horror-comedy that's inspired by a healthy mix of presidential politics and campy 80s slasher films, where a high school election turns deadly after a homicidal maniac dressed as Abraham Lincoln starts murdering the candidates."
The filmmakers say the result is an amalgam of Election and Sleepaway Camp Part 2. There is also social satire as all the characters have names that echo those of the last Us presidential election.
Featuring performances by George Stover (John Water's Desperate Living and Polyester), Ruby Larocca (Flesh for the Beast, Lord of the G-Strings), and Shawn C. Phillips (star of YouTube's The Don and Murph Show), President's Day made its debut at the Charles Theatre in Baltimore in February.
