Throw the books away, this 'Alex Rider' show has been playing fast and loose with them from the start. If you want a largely faithful adaptation then perhaps the 2006 film (certainly not as bad as people, and indeed Anthony Horrowitz make it out to be) is more your thing.
This episode is a step up from the last, and indeed this second series in general seems to have realised that this isn't some great political drama, we need a bit of action, it's 'Alex Rider' after all. It delivers on this here and it all makes for very entertaining stuff.
I think when this show gets the tone right, and puts the right actors together it's a good one indeed.
