Jackie Powers, a hit man with a soft heart, bungles an assignment to collect debt from a cunning debtor and ends up taking Lola, a disenchanted waitress, hostage. In a twist of fate, Lola comes up with a plan to help Jackie pay for his son's legal fees by tapping into her wealthy mother's fortune. However, Lola's mother, known as 'the black widow' for her numerous deceased husbands, will only part with her wealth if Lola marries. Jackie agrees to play the part of Lola's husband, unaware that the gangsters who sent him to collect the debt are hot on their trail. As they attempt to pull off the scheme, tensions rise and secrets are uncovered, putting their lives in danger.
