- Zero wakes up in a vast wasteland and discovers that she has lost her voice. She encounters a duplicate of herself, One, who tells her it is time for their journey. The pair travel together across bush lands and into foggy forests, but before long, the path in front of them is cut off, and a mysterious lifeless man called the Sword-holder appears. He warns the girls of great danger ahead, leads them to his house in a town nearby, and asks them to wait there for the path to go back to normal. Life in the house follows a strange routine and soon the girls lose track of time. Eager to recover her voice, Zero attempts to get out, only to find that all the houses and streets look exactly the same here and she always returns to the same place whichever door she pushes open. It seems there is no way out. As Zero resists, she gradually notices that One and the Sword-holder are actually conspiring together to make her succumb to the rules of this world and prevent her from continuing her journey. One night, Zero finally realizes the truth of this place after an unexpected finding. But for her to escape, now Zero has to make a difficult choice in this life-defining moment.
