My grandmother always said that Argentines are lousy filmmakers and unfortunately it turns out to be true, since many of the films in Argentine cinema are lousy or mediocre and only a few manage to stand out well. "Bad" (that's the name of this movie in Spanish) is another proof of this and trying to offer a fascinating story about "gender violence" that is usually something very recurring in Argentina, but the film fails to convey that. Interestingly, the movie opened on Valentine's Day as if trying to say through the premise that the love between a man and a woman is totally irrelevant and illusory. Of course, violence against the female sex is something completely natural in Argentina, but the film also tries to touch the issue of justice into its own hands, which is already controversial in Latin America due to the different standards of society. The film shows us the whole story through the mercenary Rosario, who, because she is a victim of "gender violence", begins to kill men who hurt women, taking it as an act of justice. Everything changes when her new client offers to hurt the man who hurt her feelings and this new target is someone happy who already has a growing family. It is already from here that women are not always the victims as one always thinks, so the concept of "gender violence" is too ambiguous to be something real. The plot of the film has something fascinating to offer in the way of a novel, but it is very poorly realized in this film. The movie feels too generic and flat without much to build excitement or tension and ends up being boring much of the time. He even tries to appeal to a psychological side by casting 4 actresses for Rosario's character so that each of them represents the different facets of Rosario, but it becomes too implausible and useless. The film doesn't even know how to focus on Rosario's psychology and ends up losing meaning in various aspects. Even the masturbation scene of her is unnecessary and forced no matter how surreal it was made. The scenes of violence are somewhat salvageable, as are a part of the production and photography. The chase scene at the beginning was even well done for then. Even so, it is not saved from being an empty product. In conclusion, Bad is bad. A bad movie that serves as another proof that Argentine cinema will never be as big as Hollywood cinema, which apparently is the only one that knows how to produce the best movies in the world. My final rating for this movie is 3/10.
