Joel Miller : [Joel hesitates, before:] I swear.
Ellie Williams : [Ellie stares at Joel in a long silence before glancing away, thoughts racing through her mind as she takes in his response. Finally, she nods and makes direct eye contact:] Okay.

Ellie Williams : I'm not.

[Again, Joel quickly turns to nervously clarify]
Joel Miller : Again, not sayin' that you don't. But you know why I think she'd like you?
Ellie Williams : Why?
Joel Miller : 'Cause you're funny.

Joel Miller : I think you would've made her laugh. Anyway, I bet you would've liked her back.
